WASHING THE MOTOR HOME ROOF

DSC_8330

OUR DIGS AS SEEN FROM ATOP THE MOTOR HOME...big roof at right is our 2 vehicle carport.

It was one of those perfect September weather days with sunny sky’s & temps in the low 60’s.  Just the kind of day that energizes us older fellas, so with energy levels peaking I was able to get the rigs roof scrubbed today.  I had gone up on the roof to WD40 the working parts of the rig’s Winegard TV antennae when I noticed how dirty the roof had become over the summer.

DISCOVERED A PRETTY DIRTY ROOF ONCE I GOT UP HERE

Our Motor Home sits in the shade of tall pine trees & a green/black mold had set in.  It took me a couple hours of scrubbing & hosing down the roof & then hosing down the whole Motor Home.  I even had enough energy left over to get a little waxing done on the rig’s front end too.  These sure are different days from just a short month ago when I was fighting a daily battle against a miserable virus bug.

HERE YOU CAN SEE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CLEAN & DIRTY

AND DON'T FORGET TO CLEAN UNDER THE SOLAR PANELS!!

After reading Jedsmom's comment in our Shout Box this morning I realized just how far behind the times I have slipped.  I thought that cell phone thing in classrooms was a new problem here in Ontario but if you read Jedsmom’s comment you will see it seems to be common place in schools now.  Even 5th graders are packing cell phones into school rooms.  Well, there is a lot more I could say about all this but what’s the point.  I might just as well join the masses & go bury my head in the sand & give my head a break.  Nothing I can do about the decline & decay of our society anyway........it’s already to late!!

VIEWS OF OUR PLACE FROM ATOP THE MOTOR HOME

Someone asked if the picture of me sitting on the ground working on some outside speakers a few days ago was taken by Kelly.  No, I usually take those pics myself using the camera’s self timer.  Most of my photos do not have people in them & since I don’t care to have a lot of people hanging around in my world I sometimes use myself to give photos perspective.

I’m trying very hard to get along with Windows 7 but we sure are having our differences.  Got myself into a real schmozzle with that magnifier thingy this morning.  I much prefer the simplicity of XP’s CTR+ for enlarging things but hey, I'm the kid who failed grade one so what do I know!!

SHARING:))

GROANER'S CORNER:(( A college class was told they had to write a short story in as few words as possible.  The instructions were:  The short story had to contain the following 3 things.  Religion, Sexuality & Mystery.  Only one short story received an A+ in the entire class.  It read........"Good God, I'm pregnant; I wonder who did it."

  1. Nice job on the MH roof clean-up. You sure can see the difference with the clean-dirty pic. I love your woodsy location for your stix and brix. Really lovely.

Your pups look cute sharing the sofa for a little snooze!

  2. GREAT job on the rooftop cleanup!

Saw your endcap seam... have you ever thought to seal it up with a 4" wide strip of Eternabond? Most motorhome folks are turning to it and if applied properly, it is stuck FOREVER. Just thinking.....

  4. I sure am glad you are feeling so much better. I tell ya, it's the idea that you are planning for your winter trip southwest that did it.

The groaner was the best in a long time!

  5. CTRL + and - work on my version of Windows 7 but maybe you are just to far from Seattle for that functionality to tranfer. Good to see you are getting things cleaned up for the big departure.

  6. Hey Al, I'm using Windows 7 and CTRL + works just fine to increase the display size.

The MH's roof looks nice and clean now. Do you hire yourself out?

I haven't tried the self-timer on my camera yet, I just usually get Molly or Rylie to take my picture to add some perspective.

  7. What the heck? You're cleaning the rig? I thought you told me you never did that unless under gun point! Those meds you were on must have really had quite an effect! :)

  8. Great post! Love the puppy pics.
And I, too, use the Control + and - and it works for me with Windows 7. It should work for you, too. I use the + and - on the row above letters, not the number pad. Don't know if that matters.
The Groaner's Corner is too funny! :)

  9. Good job on the roof Al, I am always afraid that at 250 I am to heavy for the roof so I try to get my son or some skinny neighbor kid up there that only weighs 150. Looks like you are on the downhill slope now, with new tires and a clean roof. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

  10. Looks like the roof needed it. We washed ours last week too. I hate getting up there but it needs to be done. Be careful! I always tell myself.

Your rig will be in tip top shape before you head out in a few weeks. Nice!!

  11. You remember that old song, Al...

"When this old world starts getting me down
And people are just too much for me to face
I climb way up to the top of the stairs
And all my cares just drift right into space"..."UP ON THE ROOF"!!!
I like the dogs idea of a good time much better!

  12. You had to mention cell phones didn't you! Do you realize that in California they are trying to pass a law to ban TEXTING while DRIVING! Can you image the idiots out there that would do that? Constant cell phone talking is bad enough, but texting? You need your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road, for heaven's sake -- and for he sake of other travelers, pedestrians, dogs and trees as well! Since you wouldn't rant about that, I picked it up for you and did the rant!

  13. You have a beautiful piece of property. It does seem like a very peaceful place.

    Be safe on that roof!
