JUST MY 'FACEBOOK' OPINION OF COURSE!!

DSC_7219 A FROSTY MORNING THISTLE

Second half of our two part first aid course tonight so blog will be short.  Of course I said that a couple days ago about Tuesday's blog & then it just seemed to trudge on forever.

Kelly headed off to Cambridge this morning to see some of her Grandkids that she hadn't seen before we headed west last October.

Same old, same old, here today with the continuing clean up & that was about it.

I THINK THIS LITTLE FELLOW IN OUR YARD THIS MORNING WAS AN EASTERN TOWHEE

Was saddend this morning to read about fellow RV Blogger RANDY & PAM'S young daughter-in-law Meghan passing away from cancer.  This was Meghan's blogsite....THE BEE'S KNEES.  I remember Randy sending out something about Meghan on Facebook a few times recently but I unfortunately never took the time to read it.

I have had Facebook for a bunch of years now & have become very resistant to all it's games, add on's, & numerous requests for this, that, & the other thing.  I don't join any groups, sign any petitions, buy any farms or cattle or whatever they do on all those silly Farmsville or Yoville, or Hooterville places, or whatever Ville lands on my desktop.  I'm not into joining political or religious groups or save the Alaskan Hippos groups.  I don't care if Rhinosaucerouses can't lay eggs & I don't have to have bouquets of flowers sent to me because it was my sister's uncle's great grandfather's birthday 6 weeks ago.  No, I am not an instant winner of anything & yes, I do believe I am from the planet Cyberschnozz.  So ,when any of this stuff pops up on my Facebook page I quickly dispatch it.  Sometimes something comes along that is real & of importance but out of habit I send it on it's way with barely a look see & that is how I probably missed the message Randy was sending out about his daughter-in-law recently.

DSC_0097I think Facebook is a great communication tool & if used maturely & responsibly it is a definite plus for friends & families to stay in touch.  Notice I used the word, 'maturely.'  In my opinion it's too bad it is so chalked full of, & stuffed with, soooo much silly stuff but I guess Facebook's prime target market is all the teeny boppers out there so it is to be expected.  Guess that's where the maturity issue comes in.  Just my opinion of course & besides......I don't call myself an old Cursmudgeon just for nothing you know!!

  1. I agree with your take on Facebook. I joined but hardly ever look at it. I rather read Blogs, they make more sense to me.

  2. Actually, there are more 50+ on FB than "tenny's". I am 60 and have close to 300 friends, most of which are 60+. I don't play any games, send any flowers, hearts...whatever.
But have really enjoyed the interaction with my HS friends. We have put together several multi-year, mini-reunions in Dallas. I am a retired chef and post many delish recipes. So if you have "hidden" me you're missin' out :)I also keep up with many RV blogs, including yours, on FB. We are RV wannabee's...have to sell the house first. You can style FB to fit your own preferences and enjoy the friendships. p.s. Love Canada!!

  3. AMEN to your FB comments!! If I joined every game, cause, religous or political appeal, or anything in between, I'd be at my desk full-time, and that's something in retirement I don't do anymore!

  4. Al,
Take the word "spotted" out, and you have the correct name of your bird, the Eastern towhee. :) The spotted towhee is found in the western half of the US and southwestern Canada. You may have seen the spotted towhee last winter in your travels.

I agree with the farm business on Facebook. :(

  5. Great pic of the tulips!! I find FB way too intrusive to use regularly. The more you do on it, the more requests you get for friends. How do you nicely refuse to "add a friend" after they make a request? I have about 10 pending now, some are family members, but I still don't want them on my "Wall". I've pretty much stopped using it except for once and a while just out of curiosity.

  6. Total agreement about the FB games and nonsense. I have a few friends (around 40) and about 35 of them are older than 50. They all seem to jump on that silly stuff. Not for me, thank you. I don't want to waste time with that stuff.

    Beautiful tulip photo.

  7. Amen to FB comments. The only thing I would like to learn how to do (and you do it, I know) is to automatically let Facebook tell my friends (all six of them)about our blog when it is published. Can you help?

  8. I agree with most of what you said about Facebook, except...old folks like us don't really see much of the teenyboppers' postings to each other. And most of the 'ville stuff is coming from folks in our approximate age group.

  9. I have to spend too much time at this puter already, so I don't know how people have the time to fiddle with all that FB stuff.
They need to be out and about, getting exercise and enjoying nature.
    Love your blog and pictures.
