A FEW PHOTOS FROM THE HULLETT PROVINCIAL WILDLIFE AREA

DID YOU SEE THE BEE??
Another mighty fine Sunday morning in the countryside as Pheebs and I wandered ourselves over to the Hullett Marsh.  A slight cooling breeze held the heat and humidity down long enough for us to get a walk in plus a few photos.  We were home shortly after ten and that was it for the day.  Stayed inside where it was cool except for a short walk with Pheebs around 2 p.m.
IT WAS A QUIET MORNING IN THE HULLETT MARSH
I'M THINKING THIS MIGHT BE AN 'EASTERN PONDHAWK' DRAGONFLY

DEFINITELY A THISTLE ABOUT READY TO BLOOM
I WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THIS TINY BUTTERLY

IT IS VERY RARE FOR ME TO MEET ANOTHER CAMERA GUY ON THE TRAIL BUT DID MEET THIS FELLOW AND SAW ANOTHER CHAP ABOUT A QUARTER MILE AWAY (BELOW)  BOTH WERE PACKING SOME  VERY SERIOUS CAMERA EQUIPMENT
MILKWEED BUDS ABOUT TO FLOWER
I'M THINKING THIS CHAP MAY BE A 'WIDOW SKIMMER' DRAGONFLY

You Know You're In California When...
- The fastest part of your commute is down your driveway.
- You were born somewhere else.
- You know how to eat an artichoke.
- The primary bugs that you worry about are electronic.
- Your car has bulletproof windows.
- Left is right and right is wrong.
- Your monthly house payments exceed your annual income.
- If you need a new TV, you can run down to the local riot and pick one up.
- You dive under a desk whenever a large truck goes by.
- You can't find your other earring because your son is wearing it.
- You drive to your neighborhood block party.
- Your family tree contains 'significant others'.
- Your cat has it's own psychiatrist.
- You don't exterminate your roaches, you smoke them. You see 25 lawyers chasing an ambulance.
- More than clothes come out of the closets.
- You go to a tanning salon before going to the beach.
- Your blind date turns out to be your ex-spouse.
-More money is spent on facelifts than on diapers.
- When you can't schedule a meeting because you must 'do lunch'.
- Your children learn to walk in Birkenstocks.
- Rainstorms or thunder are the lead story for the local news. You'll reluctantly miss yoga class to wait for the hot tub repairman.
- You consult your horoscope before planning your day.
- A glass has been reserved for you at your favorite winery. When all highways into the state say: 'no fruits'.
- All highways out of the state say: 'Go back'.
- You pack shorts and a T-shirt for skiing in the snow, and a sweater and a wetsuit for the beach.

VERY FRUSTRATED WITH BLOGGER'S NEW FORMAT

OUR SUNBURST LOCUST LEAVES ARE FINALLY FILLING OUT
It was as if we had boarded a plane in hot and humid Florida and flown a few hours to Alaska and stepped off the plane into much cooler crisp temperatures.  Well, we didn't fly anywhere of course and that temperature transition took place right here at home with us not even having to leave the ground.  I like weather changing cheap flights like that:))
BUSY MORNING AT THE PURPLE MARTIN'S HOUSE
Nice early morning warm breeze found Pheebs and I cruising around under cloudy skies south of Bayfield after a drive down around the beach area.  Out into the country we checked on the Eagle's nest but didn't see any activity.  The chicks may have already flown the coop.
THE BOYS ARE DOING THEIR PROPER DISTANCING
LOOKS LIKE THE CAPTAIN IS ON THE PHONE
'YES HONEY, I'M AT THE OFFICE'
THIS BOAT IS KIND OF A LITTLE 'CUTESY-PATOOTSIE'
BOAT SLIPS ARE FILLING UP

Our travels didn't take us too far afield again but we did manage to find us a few photos along the way.

ALL THE PRETTY WHITE APPLE BLOSSOMS ARE GONE FOR ANOTHER YEAR
Home again it turned into a mostly inside relaxing day.  Spent a fair bit of time in my sunroom recliner reading with an occasional shortened 'drift-off' to Dreamland's far away lands of mystery, madness, mayhem, and magical wonderments.  I patiently worked away at Blogger's new format this afternoon as well but came away totally frustrated.  I'll go back to their older format until they pull the plug on it and then I don't know where I will go........
NOT OFTEN WE SEE CHESTNUT TREES ANYMORE
Feeling physically better today than the last couple days.  Have been making even more rather drastic changes to my eating habits and food intake in an attempt to battle this Type 2 diabetes thing that is now upon me so we'll see what happens over this next little while.  Had an unexpected call from my Nurse Practitioner late this afternoon to go over a few more things.

SHEEP ON THE LEFT STILL HAS ITS WOOL BUT THE ONE ON THE RIGHT DOESN'T
Much needed rain finally arrived early this afternoon which I'm sure will really please area farmers with newly planted crops.  Pleases me with my newly planted grass.  We ended the day under clearing skies, cool temps, and sunshine.

NO FLOWER PICS TONIGHT....I PROMISE!!

DSC_0075

1956 FORD FAIRLANE

At the risk of totally OD'ing on flower photos I've decided to dig into the files & pull out some old memory photos from last summer's car show in Goderich.  You can see all the cars here......CRUISE DAY IN GODERICH

Another scorcher today & from what I read on other people's blogs it's a scorcher pretty much all over the place.  Hot summer weather like this can trap you inside just as easily as those cold winter days can but if I had a choice I would take the summer heat over the winter cold.  Don't have to shovel the results of hot weather.

Hadn't erased my brain software from the mobility van run Tuesday so when I plugged myself into the van this morning my brain computer programmed in my Tuesday run & headed me off in the wrong direction.  About half way to town A  the brain recalibrated itself & flashed me a message saying, "hey dummy, your supposed to be heading for Town B.

As I said in yesterday's blog I always head out on the early side & that served me well this morning as I was able to cut across country on some back roads & still arrive on time for my pick up.  Thursday morning I am heading for London Ontario which is totally in the opposite direction so hopefully I will have my brain software correctly re-programmed for that.  I don't ever recall heading for a wrong town before!!  But then again, I probably don't recall a whole lotta things:((

I've noticed a lot less bird activity these past few days with the hotter weather so I guess their appetites are down too.  That's OK because it will give us a financial break from having to buy so much birdseed.

1956 CHEVY BEL-AIR

In keeping with today's car theme pics I figured I'd throw in a link to a post I wrote a couple years ago.  It's about the days when you could buy & sell cars for just a few hundred bucks sometimes.  And, I sure had my share of cars back in those days.  Check them all out here at, LOTS OF OLD CLUNKERS.

GROANER'S CORNER:((   As we get older we sometimes begin to doubt our ability to "make a difference" in the world. It is at these times that our hopes are boosted by the remarkable achievements of other "Seniors" who have found the courage to take on challenges that would make many of us wither. Harold Schlumberg is such a person.
Q. "What do you old folks do now that you're retired Harold?"
A. "Well...I'm fortunate to have a chemical engineering background and one of the things I enjoy most is converting beer, wine and whiskey into urine. I do it everyday and I really enjoy it. "  Atta boy Harold, you go guy!!
