Due to medical appointments and circumstances in both our lives, my good buddy Richard and I had not made it out for one of our twice-monthly Thursday morning coffee runs for a month or more. However, the stars finally aligned again and I picked Richard up this morning. It didn't take us long to cruise through McDonalds in Goderich and grab a couple coffees and carrot muffins to go. We had a lot of catching up to do because there had already been a lot of water under the bridge since the last time we were out. However, not missing a beat we picked up right where we left off last time with our in-depth conversation. Our travels on this cloudy 34F winter's morn took us northeast of Goderich over around the Ben Miller area and northeast of Bayfield.
I was home again close to noon. With slightly milder temps upon us, I grabbed my snow shovel and headed out into our backyard to open up some paths to both sheds and the burning barrel. I sure needed the exercise and it took me close to an hour to get that heavy wet snow moved but at least now the pathways are finally shoveled in and it will be easier for me to keep them open unless we get another big overnight snow dump like we did in early December. DRIVING CONDITIONS WERE GOOD THIS MORNING WITH BARE DRY ROADS AND UNLIMITED VISIBILITY
I WISHED WE WOULD HAVE A BIG THAW TO MELT ALL THIS SNOW SO I COULD GET A JUMP START ON THE SPRING CLEANUP BY GATHERING UP ALL THESE BROKEN BRANCHES FROM THE BIG SNOWSTORM THREE WEEKS AGO |
Another sign from Kelly. We have a slightly elevated doggy stand that holds two metal dishes. One for food and one for water. I prefer a porcelain bowl for water so that sits beside the stand. I use one metal dish for Pheebs food and the other dish sits empty. At the kitchen counter yesterday I glanced back over to Pheebs dish stand between the kitchen and living room to see if she had eaten all her breakfast. She had. But I noticed immediately there was only one metal dish in the stand where moments before there had been two as per usual. What!! Where was the other dish?? Had I taken it to the sink to wash? No!! Had I set it on the kitchen counter or table? No!! Looking all around I could not locate the missing dish anywhere. I was convinced Kelly had something to do with this:)) Later in the afternoon, I went over to pick up the remaining dish to put Pheebs supper in and guess what. The missing bowl was sitting inside the other bowl and that is why I didn't see it and couldn't find it. I was convinced more than ever that it was a sign from Kelly because I would not have, and did not set that metal bowl inside the other bowl. I had absolutely no reason to do that. Zero, Zilch, no reason!! Like I said to Pheebs, "I think Mom's playing tricks on us guys again":))
THIS IS PHEEBS DISH STAND |
TWO METAL BOWLS 'ALWAYS' SIT SIDE BY SIDE |
AND, THIS IS WHAT I SAW.....THE MISSING BOWL IS SITTING INSIDE THE BOWL ON THE LEFT AND 'I DID NOT PUT IT THERE' AND I'M QUITE SURE PHEEBS DIDN'T EITHER |
GROANER'S CORNER:(( Tony had just finished reading a new book entitled, 'You Can Be The Man of Your House.' He stormed out to his wife in the kitchen and announced, 'From now on, you need to know that I am the man of this house and my word is Law. You will prepare me a gourmet meal tonight, and when I'm finished eating my meal, you will serve me a sumptuous dessert. After dinner, you are going to go upstairs with me and do as I say. Afterwards, you are going to draw me a bath so I can relax. You will wash my back and towel me dry and bring me my robe. Then, you will massage my feet and hands. Then tomorrow, guess who's going to dress me and comb my hair?' His Sicilian wife Gina replied, "The funeral director would be my first guess."----------------------------------------
"I hope you didn't take it personally, Reverend," an embarrassed woman said after a church service, "when my husband walked out during your sermon.""I did find it rather disconcerting," the preacher replied. "It's not a reflection on you," insisted the church goer. "Ralph has been been walking in his sleep since childhood."

My girlfriend asked me for something that goes 0 to 200 in 2 seconds for her birthday.
Apparently, she wasn’t asking for a bathroom scale.

ReplyDeleteHave you tried your senior center for your iPhone? Ours here in River side CA have classes. Hope you're hanging in there. You have lots of love around you.
ReplyDeleteI feel exactly the way you do about trying to figure out the new technology of an iPhone..... I have tried to learn without success..... and no longer can we find a simple flip phone with the ability to make and receive calls, or to leave a message.....can't some company make a simple to use phone ????
ReplyDeleteYes - Consumer Cellular - the Jitterbug Iris Flip 2. It is red, big numbers, very simple. Many seniors use it. Inexpensive plans - even recommended by AARP. Should easily find what you need for $ 20 month.
DeleteI dragged myself kicking into getting an iPhone about 5 years ago. I got an iPhone SE, which is a cheaper, simpler phone for people like me. Still has a home button for example. They still make them, because I got another one last year (long story). This is just FYI. If you hang in there, you can probably get the version you've got to work for you. Hanging in there is the problem for me, but maybe you shouldn't give up yet. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that Kelly is letting you know that she's watching over you and Pheebs. Maybe learn only one thing every few days on the iphone, like how to make a phone call and how to answer the phone. Then move on to whatever else is needed one step at a time. I don't use many of the applications on my iPhone because I don't need them.
ReplyDeleteI think you would most likely do better with an iPhone book for dummies that is what I got when I got my I phone and what a blessing. Goto Amazon and have a look see. Also… choline is a very good brain health vitamin taken once in the morning it will help sharpen your memory works for my 90 year old mother!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the above comment. Get the IPhone for Dummies book. Also, there's a neighborhood site countrywide for individual neighborhood. I see there's one for Bayfield, Ontario but since I belong to one in my area it doesn't let me copy the link for some reason.... it returns to my area. Here's the link: ca.nextdoor.com and then put in Bayfield. If you sign up for it just ask if there's someone in Bayfield willing to help you with your phone. If you're not comfortable with them coming to your house, you could meet the person at a coffee shop. The site is extremely helpful for things like this and your town neighbors would be happy to help you. That's what the site is for. Love the photos of Kelly. She was a beauty and fun-loving!
ReplyDeleteAl you've got a lot of things to learn now so don't get discouraged. I'm sure that you've mastered many cameras and I could not do that. Try to learn one small thing each day but do something with the phone each day. There are many things with the phone that you will never need. But just as with a computer once you master the things that add to your life you'll be amazed. It's getting very difficult to function in this world without a smart phone. You also might find some of the tips in the app on the phone helpful- you don't have to learn everything just what you want. Play with the camera on the phone if that's what you are most comfortable doing first. You have done things that are much more difficult. Don't give up and give yourself time- Mary Lou in TN
ReplyDeleteIt's good to know that
ReplyDeleteand Richard finally got back into your regular
routine together,Al.
When I first tried to get
used to using a smart
phone I was just as lost
as I had been when I
tried to learn how to use a computer..The trick with
any.new to us to kind of
technology is to realize ahead of time it's just learning a new tool that eventually will be as easy
driving a car is.Slow and steady leads to wow,I can do this,I hope you, Pheebs
(and Kelly) enjoy today,
Mary
Al,
ReplyDeleteI also had a flip phone for many years and when I finally got an Iphone it took me a long time to get the hang of it. Here is what I did, I found Rich Bowlin on YouTube as I told you earlier and then I watched the videos from 3 years ago, starting with Setting Up Your Iphone- Part 1, 7 minutes long and continuing through all 12 parts. I watched many of them a dozen times, taking notes for future reference when I was practicing on my Iphone. If I was still stumped about how to do something on my Iphone, on my computer I went to:apple.support.com/guide/iphone/iphone 15 from written instructions from Apple. I found it best to master one area-ie-How to set my Iphone, then move on to the next area. I would ignore all the bells and whistles until I felt I was ready to move on. Many of those bells and whistles you probably never need or have a use for. Hope this helps. Best Regards,
Ron from Franklin,TN
