LOOK UP MY FELLOW CANADIANS AND THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS

ROLLING HILLS AND DALES
For Pheebs and I on this overcast windy 50F morning our main destination was Goderich's Walmart Pharmacy.  Kelly's bladder infection has not cleared up.  Her Nurse Practitioner sent in a new and stronger prescription order to the Pharmacy late yesterday so Pheebs and I set off to pick that up.  Our usual coffee, quick swing down around the harbor, Walmart, and home.  I don't know how Kelly is dealing with so many health issues right now and still holding her own.  Some of those issues I do not put in the blog.

THE ROSAIRE A DESGAGNES  IN PORT THIS MORNING DOCKED AT THE GODERICH GRAIN TERMINAL

With trouble sleeping Thursday night, it was a tired day today and I got about the square root of nothing accomplished.  I had one of my 'just didn't feel like it' days and hunkered down in the sunroom and buried my nose in a book.  Due to the cold wind, it was a short walk for Pheebs and I this afternoon.

I calmly walked into our sunroom Wednesday morning, unplugged the television beside my computer desk, and removed it from the room.  I will bring it back Sunday night to watch Skinwalker Ranch and then remove it again until the next Sunday night.  I am completely done with following news channels and I have never felt more relieved than right now that we live in this wonderful country of Canada. I wonder how many Canadians fully understand and appreciate how truly fortunate we are at this moment in time to be living here where we do.  Look up my fellow Canadians and thank your lucky stars....

Al's Music Box:)) Sunshine Superman is a song written and recorded by Scottish singer-songwriter Donovan. It was released as a single in the United States through Epic Records in July 1966.  The single was backed with "The Trip".  It has been described as "[one of the] classics of the, and as "the quintessential bright summer sing along.  "Sunshine Superman" reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States (Donovan's only single to do so) and subsequently became the title track of his third album.  A different mix of "The Trip" (without harmonica) is also included in the album. The single version of "Sunshine Superman" was edited down from its original four-and-a-half minutes to just over three, and this version was also used on the album; the full-length version made its debut on the Donovan's Greatest Hits LP in 1969.  Recorded on 19 December 1965, the song "has a claim to be the first psychedelic rock record ever recorded" according to The Guardian.  It was arranged by two jazz musicians, pianist John Cameron and Spike Heatley, who played double bass. John Paul Jones, who would also act as an arranger on some Donovan sessions for producer Mickie Most, played electric bass. Session guitarist Jimmy Page (The Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin) played lead guitar, employing an innovative use of the volume control on his guitar for the repeating figure he played during the verses. Cameron played a two-tier Morley harpsichord on the record. After the success of the song, Cameron would arrange (and play on) many tracks for Donovan and Most.  Billboard described the single as a "rockin' production ballad with an exciting, commercial sound". Cash Box described the song as a "funky, medium-paced, blues-soaked romancer about a lad who is determined to snare the gal of his dreams", and called it "impressive". Record World said it "has an incessant and irresistible mid-shuffle beat." Following the release of the hit song, the name "Sunshine Superman" became widely associated with Donovan himself, and was used as the title or part of the title of about six of his album releases and reissues (including several compilations and a live album as well as being used as the title track of his 1966 studio album).GROANER'S CORNER:(( You are driving in a car at a constant speed.  On your left side is a drop-off and on your right side is a fire engine traveling at the same speed as you.  In front of you is a galloping pig which is the same size as your car and you cannot overtake it. Behind you is a helicopter flying at ground level.  Both the giant pig and the helicopter are also traveling at the same speed as you.  What must you do to safely get out of this highly dangerous situation?  Get off the children's merry-go-round, you're drunk.

Summer vacation was over and the teacher asked Little Johnny about his family trip. "We visited my grandmother in Minneapolis, Minnesota."  The teacher asked, "Good, can you tell the class how you spell that?"  Little Johnny thought for a few seconds and said, "Actually, we went to Ohio."

  3. Good plan with the tv business. I'm doing what I did the first time around we elected this person....severely pruning my news sources to Brit and CBC and AP on the internet. I never brought the talking heads back from the first time. At my age, I'm better off ignorant I decided. (haha I am as old as you) Wish I could send Kelly some energy....don't know where she gets her stamina except from love. Saw a cartoon speculating that Canadians are probably feeling like they live in the apartment above a meth lab.

  4. You honestly believe that Justin Castro is doing Canada & Canadians any favors? He's a globalist, one of Klaus Schwab's Young Global Leaders, along with Chrystia Freeland. You will own nothing and be happy.

  5. Not sure about all that. Your health care system doesn't work well, as poor Kelly is experiencing. Your cost of everything is higher, and a number of other differences. I don't understand someone, especially an outsider, saying that the majority of Americans are stupid. Live down here 24/7, 365 days a year, and you would more understand the frustration we feel.

  6. Pandora's box was partially opened on Nov. 8, 2016. Since then, we have desperately tried to contain some of its worse contents. However, on Nov 5th - Pandora's box was fully exploded.! - and now America & the rest of the world will suffer the consequences. My heart breaks for my children, grand-children, & great grand-children - not only for what they will have to endure, but also for what they will never know or experience. The only thing left in Pandora's box after all the evils were released was Hope. And, with that & Prayer I will slowly work my way thru the 7 stages of grief. I will never let them take my happiness or extinguish my light. No more news or political pundits - Ignorance is Bliss.

  8. Al, you remind me of the whinny liberals who need a safe place, coloring book, therapy, or Legos to play with to deal with an election loss. You obviously like to live in a country run by a wanna be dictator. BTW, I pray for Kelly nightly

  9. A lot of comments that I had to reply. I agree with the Justin Castro thought and I am glad I live in the country I do. What I don't understand are those here and other social media platforms are so negative. Our USA was headed for disaster if the "orange man" wasn't elected. TOTAL DISASTER!! I have no interest in living under the World Order BS and I will take Trumps administration any day of the week. Cheaper gas, groceries, a calmer world is already happening within 48 hours after the election. Don't know what I am talking about ... do some reading and research with an open mind. The USA avoided disaster by electing Trump. I guess from what I see here and what I feel my Sunday blog post will be long and rambling on why it was great to see Trump elected.

  10. I find it rather interesting that for the last 4 years, not a word was uttered in this blog about the US's out of control inflation, mutilating children, opening the border, increase in crime rate -- yet as soon as we elect someone who actually listens to ALL the citizens (as shown by the election results), immediately the fake outrage comes out. Why so quiet for 4 years? Were you just not paying attention because the "bad orange man" was out of the picture? And as for being lucky to be in Canada, I hear that an increasing number of Canadians aren't exactly thrilled with your PM. Smugness doesn't suit you.

I too continue to keep Kelly in my thoughts.

  11. Clearly we Americans can't let someone state a simple sincere opinion (on his own blog) about being happy to live where he lives without feeling compelled to "share" what is also clearly a divided position on recent events. Even in this small demographic we're grieving from the loss and somehow still angry in the win. Certainly we've proved to you that you're right to be glad you aren't here.
I love those do-nothing days when you can enjoy the peace of being at home with the little family. Hugs to you and Kelly and Pheebs.

    1. What an uncalled for pompous remark! Not surprising you’re a Trump supporter.

  15. Good grief! Well, I guess Americans got what they wanted. It’s hard to understand, but I guess the selfish frat boy mentality is desirable to many Americans. They got what they voted for and I do hope it somehow works out for all.
