IT WAS A 'TWO SOAKERS' MORNING

When our A/C kicked in at 8 a.m. this morning I knew it was going to be yet another hot and sticky day.  Skipped our walk because I didn't want to start the day off with my shirt sticking to me.  Little did I know I would end up with exactly that happening later but for a different reason.  Despite a few morning sun splashes, the sky quickly clouded up and it began to rain while Pheebs and I were on our way to Goderich.

'LOOKS LIKE A RAINY MORNING OUT THERE DAD'
Our usual routine with a stop at the gas bar, McDonalds for a coffee to go, down to the harbor for a Pheeber pit stop then off to Walmart and the Canadian Tire store.  Walking into Walmart there was a drizzly rain in the air but when I came out it was pouring.  By the time I made it back to the Jeep I was pretty wet.  Yes, and my shirt was sticking to me.  Needing a key cut I had one more stop at the Canadian Tire store beside Walmart.  Raining heavier now I nearly froze when I walked into the CT store.  They must have had their A/C set to -35 below zero.  Being soaking wet I nearly froze to the spot.  Made my way over to the automotive counter and with a new key in hand plus a box of coffee filters, I soon exited the store.  If I thought it was raining heavy before, I was mistaken.  Now it was coming down in buckets.  No point in running to the Jeep because I was already soaked so with two soakers already, I sloshed my way across the parking lot to the Jeep with Gene Kelly's song Singing In The Rain bouncing around in my head.  The first thing I did upon reaching the Jeep was to turn on some heat plus the defroster to get rid of all the fog on the windows.  With my windshield wipers in turbo-charged overdrive, I carefully made my way out of the parking lot and headed for home.  That downpour never let up until I was about two-thirds of the way to our Park when all of a sudden I drove right out of the torrential waterfall.  From there it was clear sailing the rest of the way home and I didn't even have to use my wipers again.

MY GPS SHOWS EXACTLY WHERE I WAS (BLUE TRIANGLE) AT 10:04 THIS MORNING AND THE BIG PATCH OF BLUE ON THE LEFT IS LAKE HURON
SLOWLY MAKING MY WAY OUT OF A VERY WET CANADIAN TIRE PARKING LOT
THIS FARMER WASN'T LETTING A SIMPLE DELUGE OF RAIN STOP HIM FROM HEADING OUT TO SPREAD MANURE ON HIS FIELD
 BRIGHTER SKIES AHEAD
IT TOOK ME A MINUTE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT KIND OF A BEDRAGGLED BIRD THIS WAS AT OUR FEEDER LATER THIS MORNING
I FINALLY FIGURED OUT IT WAS A VERY WET MALE CARDINAL
ALL DRIED OFF, THE CARDINAL RETURNED THIS AFTERNOON
EXIT STAGE RIGHT
Services were held at our burning barrel late last week for a pair of my well-used socks and one of my favorite old shirts.  The socks had holes in them the size of moon craters and the shirt was in tatters despite my trying to coax a few more miles out of it.  My shirt was at the stage where I was afraid some kind citizen might step up, gently tap me on the shoulder, and quietly say, "Sir, your armpits are showing."  That particular shirt is the very one I am wearing in a picture on our sidebar which was taken in Sarasota Florida a few years back.  It's a photo of Kelly, Pheebs, and I.  I do understand if you want to take a moment in remembrance of my old shirt and cratered socks.

YES IT WAS QUITE A WATERY MORNING
GROANER'S CORNER:(( A man died and arrived at the Pearly Gates. St. Peter greets him and says, "Welcome. Come walk with me and I'll show you where you'll be staying."As they're walking along the path he notices clocks on the Golden Fence of Heaven. He asks St. Peter, "What are all those clocks for?"St. Peter replies, "They’re clocks for every person in the world. They click once for each time you lie."By the time they reach where the man is staying, he asks out of curiosity, "I didn't see any politicians’ clocks. Where are they kept?"St. Peter calmly replies, "People here use them as fans."

A good exercise for beginners::  Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room on each side. With a 5-lb potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax. Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.  After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato sacks. Then try 50-lb potato sacks and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level.)  After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each of the sacks.

  2. That Cardinal probably resembled you sloshing to the Jeep. Humid and hot down here too.
