BIG WIND GUSTS AND TEMPERATURES NEAR 60F

 WHAT A LITTLE CUTSY PATOOTSY
It was already over 50F when Pheebs and I headed out the door around 9 a.m. this morning  Unbelievable for this time of year in these here parts.  We headed straightaway for our country road walking spot and despite huge wind gusts from the south we managed to take ourselves for a walk.  I suspect it will be the last walk of the year for us guys.  We didn't go anywhere after that except home again.  Our day's temperature topped out at about 57F.  Back in our Park, the tall pine trees were whipping around like a bunch of giant green noodles.  The wind roaring in the trees was constant, especially as the day wore on.  These winds had been predicted to be around sixty to seventy miles an hour plus.  But here's the odd thing.....at this point tonight at the time of publishing this post our power is still on.  It did wink out for a couple seconds about 6:30 but came right back on again.  However, it was just enough to knock out all our clocks and outside light timers.

ON OUR WALK I COULD SEE RAINS OVERNIGHT HAVE MADE FOR SOME VERY WET FARMLAND
THE FIELD ON THE EAST SIDE OF OUR WALKING ROAD HAS JUST BEEN PLOWED
FACING INTO THE GUSTING SOUTHERN WINDS PHEEBS KEEPS HERE EYES CLOSED
AND HERE'S GRUMPY GRAMPS HIMSELF PLOWING ALONG INTO THE HEADWINDS
Below is a short 15-second video showing the wind in our front yard.  Keep in mind, our front yard is very sheltered but notice the trees in the background swaying.  I would not like to be out in the open driving an RV in these winds.  If the video below works I might consider including more short videos in the future.  All my Nikon cameras are capable of video but it's something I just haven't thought too much about.  The above video was taken with my Nikon Coolpix P900.

GROANER'S CORNER:((   A wife was making a breakfast of fried eggs for her husband.  Suddenly, her husband burst into the kitchen.  "Careful," he said, "CAREFUL!
Put in some more butter! Oh my GOD!
You're cooking too many at once. TOO MANY! Turn them! TURN THEM NOW! We need more butter. Oh my GOD! WHERE are we going to get MORE BUTTER? They're going to STICK! Careful. CAREFUL! I said be CAREFUL! You NEVER listen to me when you're cooking! Never! Turn them! Hurry up! Are you CRAZY? Have you LOST your mind? Don't forget to salt them. You know you always forget to salt them.
Use the salt. USE THE SALT! THE SALT!"
The wife stared at him. "What in the world is wrong with you? You think I don't know how to fry a couple of eggs?"
The husband calmly replied, "I just wanted to show you what it feels like when I'm driving."

  1. You sure did have some serious winds! So did we, though the worst was over very quick.

  2. That video worked, and it reminded me of the wind yesterday down here in Texas, when it was 85 degrees for a high. Today it was 54. Ah well. You may be taking more walks than you think. The long range forecast for the lower 48 USA states is mostly warmer and drier. Including those that are very close to you!
