MAGIC WILL ONCE AGAIN SOON BE IN THE AIR

Having missed our Monday morning walk we made up for it Monday evening.  Headed off to our usual spot but couldn't park where we usually do at a flat spot on the shoulder of the road where the farmer has access for his farm machinery to his field.  The farmer was already there with his tractor and cutter cutting his clover field.  Pheebs and I parked a little further up the country road.  Another very fine evening for a walk but quite a contrast to the stormy night before.

YOU CAN SEE A TIRE TRACK IN THE GRASS AHEAD WHERE WE USUALLY PARK BUT THE FARMER WAS THERE CUTTING HIS CLOVER FIELD

WE HAD TO MOVE UP THE ROAD A WEE BIT TO THE CORNER OF A CORNFIELD
EVENING SKIES WERE SURE CLEARER THAN THEY WERE 24 HOURS PREVIOUSLY AT THE SAME EXACT TIME
BY THE TIME WE FINISHED OUR WALK THE SUN WAS NEARLY DOWN
Tuesday morning dawned clear and cool.  How nice to toss a long sleeve flannel shirt over my short sleeve shirt.  And how nice all day Monday it was to have our doors and windows open to the cool fresh air outside with no A/C running full blast all day.  Finally, my kind of weather:))

AS WE ROLLED UP TO OUR PARKING SPOT TUESDAY MORNING I COULD SEE THE FARMER HAD FINISHED CUTTING HIS CLOVER FIELD

With another fine summer morning walk behind us, it was a short Jeep ride around a few country roads to the north.  A few photos and we were back home well before 10 a.m.  I must have run some kind of hundred-mile marathon in my sleep again Monday night because this morning I woke up totally worn out.   Needless to say, it turned out to be a slow morning.  Spent an hour asleep in my sunroom recliner with Pheebs stretched out right beside me on her sunroom doggy bed.  I think she must have run that same overnight marathon with me.  Luckily, I later woke up feeling energized so I quickly took advantage of that and the cooler outside air to get the front lawn mowed as well as both sides of the road out front.  Managed to trim a few shrubs and overgrown tree branches before I felt the humidity creeping back in.  I was quickly back into the house but no need to crank up the A/C for the second day in a row.  I hope this cooling trend continues as well it should at this time of year.

Well here it is the last day of August as summer 2021 begins its slide into history and I for one am glad to see it go and take its hot, humid, and buggy days with it.  Walking the other morning I could feel the soft southern breeze rustling tall corn stalks and hear crickets chirping along both sides of the lone country road.  The early morning's cool air has now a hint of crispness to it while nights heavy dew on long bending blades of grass makes for wet shoes and soggy little doggy tummies.  Day's are noticeably shorter and I'm enjoying these earlier evening sunsets.  With declining heat and humidity, night skies will become increasingly stable making stars and planets more clearly visible to those of us who love to stand out under those black diamond-studded velvety ebony skies.  With my eyes inquisitively lifted upward and my mind deep in thought it is always a very special time for me.  Soon, the bright and brilliant Autumn colors will begin to make an appearance in our forests and trees.  Magic will once again be in the air as it descends silently across the land.  I look forward to this short period of time each year more than any other:))

GROANER'S CORNER:((   At the height of a political corruption trial, the prosecuting attorney asked a witness. "Isn't it true," he said loudly, "that you accepted five thousand dollars to compromise this case?"  The witness stared out the window, as though he hadn't heard the question.  "Isn't it true that you accepted five thousand dollars to compromise this case?" the lawyer loudly repeated. The witness still did not respond.  Finally, the judge leaned over and said, "Sir, please answer the question."  "Oh," the startled witness said, "I thought he was talking to you."

I’d like to order a pepperoni pizza, the man said. “Shall I ask them to cut it into six or twelve slices, the pizza shop owner asks.
“Six, please. I could never eat twelve pieces.

A small boy came running out of the bathroom in tears.
"What's the matter?" asked his father.
"I dropped my toothbrush in the toilet."
"Okay, don't worry, but we'd better throw it out."
So the father fished the toothbrush out of the toilet and put it in the garbage. When he returned, the boy was holding another toothbrush.
"Isn't that my toothbrush?" the father said.
"Yes," said the boy, "and we'd better throw this one out too, because it fell in the toilet four days ago."

  1. That must be a nice place to go for a quiet country walk. Great sunset pictures too. I'm glad the cooler weather has arrived for you. I used to feel the same but now that my thermometer has gone all wonky I will miss the heat.
