DRIVING MISS KELLY TO LONDON'S UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL AND BACK

A LUCKY DRIVE-BY SHOT ON OUR WAY TO LONDON THIS MORNING
With a light snowfall and an orangy pink sunrise on the horizon, we were out the driveway and on the road to London at 8 o'clock this morning.  Secondary roads were snow-covered and highways wet and bare.  Snow increased from light to moderate but we didn't have any problems or slow-downs.  The snow lightened up again about two thirds the way to London.  Pheebs and I dropped Kelly off at University Hospital at 9:05 and headed over to Masonville Mall's huge parking lot.

With all this Covid going on we seem to be living in a little protective bubble in Bayfield.  We really don't notice much of a change anywhere but I sure noticed the change once out on the highway to London and in London itself.  Not nearly as much traffic on the roads and to see the Masonville Mall parking with only a handful of vehicles in it was almost unbelievable.  There is parking at that big Mall complex for hundreds upon hundreds of cars but we only saw maybe half a dozen.  Can't help but feel sorry for all those business owners.

PHEEBS AND I HAD PARKED OVER THERE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THAT SNOW REMOVAL EQUIPMENT
Pheebs and I went for a walk in the parking lot.  Back to the Jeep I pulled out my Kindle to read but it wasn't long and my cell phone rang.  Kelly was ready to be picked up.  Only about 40 minutes had elapsed from when I dropped her off.  Before heading home we made our customary stop at McDonalds for a snack and coffee to go.  By 10:15 we had London in the rear view mirror and it was clear sailing under patches of blue sky and bouts of sunshine almost all the way home.

ONLY 3 MILES TO GO AND WE'RE HOME:))
Dropped Kelly and Pheebs off and headed down to Bayfield's harbor to see if there had been any changes to the fishing boat story.  Nope, all looked well there so I turned around and headed back home.  Ran the snow shovel over my paths and that was about it.  Sat down around 2 with my Kindle to do some reading and woke up at 5:15.  Guess that kinda sums up how my winter's going.

THE FISHING BOAT IS STABLE AND I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THE RIVER ICE BREAKING UP

GROANER'S CORNER:((  There were two elderly people living in Trailer Estates, a Florida mobile home park. He was a widower and she a widow. They had known one another for a number of years.  One evening there was a community supper in the big activity center. The two were at the same table, across from one another. As the meal went on, he made a few admiring glances at her and finally gathered his courage to ask her, "Will you marry me?"  After about six seconds of 'careful consideration', she answered. "Yes. Yes, I will." The meal ended and, with a few more pleasant exchanges, they went to their respective places.  Next morning, he was troubled. "Did she say 'yes' or did she say 'no'?" He couldn't remember. Try as he would, he just could not recall. Not even a faint memory. With trepidation, he went to the telephone and called her. First, he explained that he didn't remember as well as he used to. Then he reviewed the lovely evening past. As he gained a little more courage, he inquired, "When I asked if you would marry me, did you say 'Yes' or did you say 'No'?"  He was delighted to hear her say, "Why, I said, 'Yes, yes I will' and I meant it with all my heart." Then she continued, "I am so glad that you called because I couldn't remember who had asked me."

  1. Glad your trip went well, and thank you so much for the beautiful photos from today and yesterday! You're not the only one who hopes basket weaving will be on the schedule. Though now that I think about it, there are some beautiful baskets in this world. Just not likely to be made by me. Keep posting. It brings a lot of pleasure to others.

  4. Stunning first photo!! Don't you just love those lucky light moments?! Glad your trip was uneventful with pretty views and that energizing blue sky. Love that round porch on the new hill house. That shoreline sure looks cold!

  5. Your gratitude for the blue skies makes me think of David Lynch's daily weather report (for LA). Whenever he can (which is very often given it's LA), he gratefully includes "And it looks like we'll be having those blue skies and golden sunshine - all along the way."
