HOW MANY OF YOU FELLAS STILL HAVE YOUR TEDDY BEARS??

Turned out to be a laid back day.  With no Sun  to charge my batteries my energy levels tanked.  Pheebs and I did make it out for Jeep ride to Goderich and back though.  Can't ever miss Pheeb's Jeep rides.  Not too much going on in Goderich with so many things shut down.  Even all the Canadian Tire Stores are now closed as well.  Sure hope they finish the shoreline restoration soon and open up the road to the doggy walking area.  I miss that drive along Lake Huron.  Thought I'd check out a couple walking trails on the way home but one was closed and there was a car at the other one.  It was a simple country road stop for us to get out and stretch our legs.
FROM THE LOOKS OF THIS 'I'M GUESSING' GODERICH'S NEW BOARDWALK JUST MIGHT BE A CEMENT BOARDWALK
THE ALGOMA ENTERPRISE TAKING ON A LOAD OF SALT AND I THINK THIS IS THE FREIGHTER THAT SPENT IT'S WINTER MONTHS IN GODERICH'S HARBOR
BUILDING CONSTRUCTION GOING ON AT THE GODERICH ELEVATORS
GOOD SOCIAL DISTANCING GOING ON THERE BOYS
HEADING HOME WE STOPPED ALONGSIDE A LOCAL COUNTRY ROAD FOR A LEG STRETCH
AND THIS IS A GOOD EXAMPLE OF HOW COUNTRY FOLKS PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING
SEAGULLS DO EAT MORE THAN FISH AND HERE THEY CAN BE SEEN AT A LOCAL INLAND SALAD BAR
THIS IS ALL I GOT WITH MY FIRST QUICK SHOT OF THIS BIRD
NOW THAT'S A BETTER PHOTO OF A WILD TURKEY

GRAZING IN THE GRASS
Three large pine trees were taken down close to us Monday and the guys did a good job cleaning up so I slipped out with my wheelbarrow, lawn and garden rake and added a few finishing touches to their clean-up.  A drizzling rain started early afternoon but Pheebs and I slipped out for a short walk anyway.  A pair of Mallard ducks and a pair of Canada Geese still on the Park's pond.

PHEEBS ALWAYS WAITS SO PATIENTLY WHEN I OCCASIONALY  STEP OUT OF THE JEEP TO SNAP A FEW QUICK PHOTOS
::AL' MUSICAL FAVS:: I have a lot of emotionally mixed memories from many years ago when I lived a much different life than I live now.  One of my favorite musical groups from one of those lifestyle eras back in the late 60's and early 70's was Santana.  Here is Carlos Santana playing a favorite of mine live at the House of Blues In Las Vegas.....Samba Pa TiThe keyboardest in the video is Greg Rolie and he is the one who sang Santana's Black Magic Woman which is one of my all time favorite songs of ever.
Archive Memory written July 30th, 2014::   How many of you fellas still have your Teddy Bears?  I do:))  As a little boy I hung out with my 3 favorite Pals.....Nancy, Panda Bear, & Punkin Head.  Nancy was a small doll with a blue dress & Panda was a big pink & white bear.  Punkin was the head honcho.  Nancy & Panda are long gone now but I still have my Punkin Head.  Punkin stayed in my bedroom at my Mother's house long after I was gone out into the world.  At some point he was moved from the house out to an old two story green barn we had behind our place.  He stayed there for a countless number of years in quiet seclusion on the upper floor.  In 2004 the task of emptying my Mother's huge house became a big job set aside for Kelly & I.  The barn had to be cleaned out as well & that is where I found my old Pal Punkin Head.  He was a little worse for wear than I remembered him as a kid, but then again age hasn't really treated some of us too kindly anyway has it.  I brought him home that day & he has resided on the top shelf of my bedroom closet ever since, warm & safe.  Big change from the freezing cold winters in the barn & all the prowling cats.  Today, while rooting through some things to take south this Winter I spotted my little Pal just sitting back relaxing.  I brought him down from the shelf & as he sat beside me on the edge of my bed, just like we did about 65 years ago, old memories were shared between us.  We sure were the best of Pals those oh so many, many, years ago & we are still the best of Pals to this very day and I see him most every day…………………..:))

GROANER'S CORNER:((  A boss was determined not to hire an Irishman, so he decided to set a test for Murphy, hoping he wouldn't be able to answer the questions, and he'd be able to refuse him the job without getting into an argument. The first question was, 'Without using numbers, represent the number 9.'So Murphy say's, "Dat's easy" and proceeds to draw three trees. The boss says, "What the hell's that?"Murphy says, "Tree 'n tree 'n tree makes nine." "Fair enough," says the boss. "Second question, same rules, but represent 99."Murphy stares into space for a while, then makes a smudge on each tree. "Der ya go sir," he says.  The boss scratches his head and says, "How on earth do you get that to represent 99?"Murphy says, "Each trees dirty now! So it's dirty tree, 'n dirty tree, 'n dirty tree, dat's 99"The boss is getting worried he's' going to have to hire Murphy, so he says "All right, question three. Same rules again, but represent the Number 100."Murphy stares into space again, then he shouts, "Got it!" He makes a little mark at the base of each tree, and says, "There ya go sir, 100." The boss looks at Murphy's attempt and thinks, "Ha! Got him this time." "Go on Murphy, you must be mad if you think that represents a hundred!"  Murphy leans forward and points to the marks at the tree bases, and says, "A little dog comes along and poos by each tree, so now you've got dirty tree an' a turd, dirty tree an' a turd, dirty tree an' a turd, which makes one hundred. When do I start me job?"

  1. always enjoy your posts, Al. Are you in an area where it would make sense to add your Teddy to the Corona Bear Hunt? Great memories for you and fun for those who find him in your window.

  4. Have my Teddy bear given to me by my uncle when I was an infant. That was 76 years ago and my uncle is now 91.

  5. My 76 year old sister still has her teddy bear. We each got one for Christmas when we were little. I ripped the tongue off of mine, then proceeded to do the same to hers. What a brat I must have been. (I'm 3 years older).

  6. I found my childhood Teddy bear (a Panda) in my mother's cedar chest after she died. I had forgotten she had kept it. It's missing an eye and it is dirty, but otherwise it is intact. Today it sits in a curio cabinet along with other mementos.

  8. So glad you have your bear with you again. I also love Black Magic Woman. My cousin was married to Carlos Santana sister. When my cousin passed away I was sick and couldn't attend his memorial. But other cousins attended. At the dinner Carlos was the host for his sister. I was told he was very attentive to everyone. He was a very gracious host. He's one of the good guys.
