CAUGHT IN WINTER'S ICY GRIP:((

Caught up in the icy grip of Old Man Winter this past week my blogging enthusiasm waned.  Lost interest in taking photos and my writing interest dropped as well.  Even today despite feeling Okay and buoyed by a steady stream of sunshine my usual blogging enjoyment was hard to find.  Maybe it's still the biting cold freezing temperatures, maybe it's the time of year, or maybe it's just me trying to once again convince myself to do something else for a change.  Maybe it's none of the above and tomorrow morning I'll wake up feeling like a million bucks.  I did take a few photos today so guess that's a start and it does look like we have some warmer weather on our doorstep.  We'll see how things go tomorrow.
LOOKS LIKE IT'S GOING TO BE A NICE SUNNY DAY AT BAYFIELD'S BEACH....BRING YOUR SUNSCREEN
ICE MOUNTAIN IS GROWING ON THE NORTH PIER
EVEN FISHING BOATS APPEAR TO BE FROZEN IN
NOPE, LOOKS LIKE ONE OF THE BOATS HAS PLOWED IT'S WAY THROUGH THE ICE AND HEADED FOR THE LAKE
YES A DEFINATE PATHWAY THROUGH THE ICE
BAYFIELD'S TEMPORARY BAILEY BRIDGE IS BEGINNING TO STRETCH ACROSS THE RIVER
WORKMEN BOLT TOGETHER SECTIONS OF THE BRIDGE FOR THE CRANE TO LIFT INTO PLACE
NORTH PIER'S ICE MOUNTAIN FROM A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE
MAIN STREET BAYFIELD

SO NICE TO SEE SUNSHINE CASTING STRONG SHADOWS
OUR PAVILION ROAD STOPPING SPOT
AFTERNOON WALK
BLACK SQUIRRELS ARE LEAPING ONTO OUR BIRD STATION SO HERE I AM LOPING MORE BRANCHES OFF A NEARBY CEDAR TREE
THIS IS HOW AND WHERE I HAVE BEEN SPENDING MOST OF MY TIME THIS WINTER
SITTING IN MY MOTHER'S CHAIR TODAY  SOAKING UP THE SUN'S WARMTH.....HAD TO WEAR MY BALL CAP TO KEEP THE SUN OUT OF MY EYES
GROANER'S CORNER:(( Have you ever noticed that when you're of a certain age, everything seems uphill from where you are? Stairs are steeper. Groceries are heavier.  And, everything is farther away. Yesterday I walked to the corner and I was dumbfounded to discover how long our street had become!  And, you know, people are less considerate now, especially the young ones. They speak in whispers all the time! If you ask them to speak up they just keep repeating themselves, endlessly mouthing the same silent message until they're red in the face! What do they think I am, a lip reader?  I also think they are much younger than I was at the same age. On the other hand, people my own age are so much older than I am. I ran into an old friend the other day and she has aged so much that she didn't even recognize me.  I got to thinking about the poor dear while I was combing my hair this morning, and in doing so, I glanced at my own reflection........Well, REALLY NOW, even mirrors are not made the way they used to be!  Another thing, everyone drives so fast today! You're risking life and limb if you just happen to pull onto the freeway in front of them.  All I can say is, their brakes must wear out awfully fast, the way I see them screech and swerve in my rear view mirror.  Clothing manufacturers are less civilized these days. Why else would they suddenly start labeling a size 10 or 12 dress as 18 or 20? Do they think no one notices that these things no longer fit around the waist, hips, thighs, and bosom?  The people who make bathroom scales are pulling the same prank, but in reverse.  Do they think I actually "believe" the number I see on that dial? HA! I would never let myself weigh that much! Just who do these people think they're fooling?I'd like to call up someone in authority to report what's going on -- but the telephone company is in on the conspiracy, too. They've printed the phone books in such small type that no one could ever find a number in here!  All I can do is pass along this warning: Maturity is under attack! Unless something drastic happens, pretty soon "everyone" will have to suffer these awful indignities.

  3. Hard to feel really sorry for you when you post a photo of toasting and reading in front of the fire. But I do know cold cold weather just makes a person tired and weary. Thanks for getting out so bravely and taking more lovely photos....

  4. I do feel sorry, because I know you would rather be here, or nearby. Temp right now, an hour after sunset here in Quartzsite, is 72. Enjoyed 80's today while driving the Kofa Queen Canyon looking for bighorns. Saw them last week, but missed seeing any today. Wish you were here!! Take care and stay warm.

  5. Boy did the winter's cold jump on your area. It looks mighty cold in the photos. Soon February will be over and Spring will not be far behind.

  6. Nice to have you check in and post those lovely winter photos. Seeing Miss Pheebs was the icing on the cake as they say.

  7. Your (beautiful) pics sent an ice cold chill into my bones. And it appears there are strange looking fishing vessels around in your area.

  8. Can you imagine having to work outside all the time in that cold like those bridge workers--I wouldn't want that job! Lovely photos as always Al.

  9. I love the photos but wish you didn't have to be in the cold and frozen north. Maybe a bit more incentive to keep looking for the rig you folks think you want for future travels.

  10. Hang in there, Spring has to arrive some day! Be glad you have a warm corner to enjoy instead of having to work outside in that cold. It's still beautiful to see from the warmth of Arizona so I'm grateful you're sharing with us :-))
