BITTERLY COLD NASTY DAY AND IT WAS ONE YEAR AGO WE BEGAN OUR LONG TREK HOME FROM THE SOUTHWEST

IT WAS A COLD BLUSTERY WINTER'S DAY
The only thing of any significance going on here is once again (ho-hum) the weather.  With today's 23F temperatures and high blustering icy cold winds coming in off the lake blowing around yesterday's 5 inch snowfall it was not a nice day for anyone to be outside if they didn't have to be.  Of course Pheebs and I had to be so off we went heading north up Portal Hill Line in the direction of Goderich.  It was a strong westerly wind blowing snow straight across the road and we punched our way through a couple dozen or more small variable depth snow drifts.  Surprisingly visibility was good and had it not been good we would have turned around and went home.  Getting to Goderich wasnt really a problem and it was kinda fun plowing through the small drifts watching the snow fly around behind us.
GUSTING WESTERLY WINDS (LEFT TO RIGHT) CAUSED A LOT OF GROUND DRIFTING
MY LANE HAD BEEN PLOWED BUT NOT THE ONCOMING LANE
Gas, a few groceries, coffee to go at McDonalds, a non eventful swing down around the harbor, and we were on our way home making snow fly again.  All my yard paths were filled in so the first order of business was to get them all shoveled out again and I did that in two stages.  There was no afternoon walk for Pheebs and I.  Too cold and windy plus the snow was too deep to trudge through.  With today's high winds it's a miracle our power never went out.
ROUGH OFFSHORE WATERS AT GODERICH'S HARBOR MOUTH
HEADING HOME MOVING A BIT OF SNOW ALONG THE WAY
THE COLD SNOWY DAY DIDN'T SEEM TO KEEP THESE LADIES AWAY FROM THEIR BREAKFAST THIS MORNING
SHOVELING OUT MY SNOWY PATHWAYS
I did buy myself a small box of tea this morning.  Certainly not my favorite drink but I'm going to make an effort to either like it or get along well enough with it to drink it.  It's supposed to be healthy and all that stuff and I am trying to make changes to beat back this diabetes thing.
LOTS OF HUNGRY BIRDS IN OUR FRONT YARD TODAY
It was one year ago today we rolled out of the Legion parking lot in Borrego  Springs California beginning our long and arduous journey home.  It was not a good trip and by the time we finally arrived home after costly repairs to our Motorhome along the way we were just about at the end of our RVing tether.  We had known for awhile if we were going to continue our RV Snowbird lifestyle we were going to have to make some major decisions on how we were going to do that.  We are now in the midst of those difficult changes and our RVing future is still and unknown.  Here's my post from one year ago today.....Borrego Springs California To Parker Arizona

GROANER'S CORNER:(( The Senility Prayer::
God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones that I do like, and the eyesight to tell the difference.

I told my boss that three companies were after me, so I needed a raise in pay to stay with the current job. He asked which companies? I told him gas, electric, and cable.

A mother was sitting on the couch reading a book when one of her children walked up to her and said, Mummy, why is my name Petal? The mother replied, Because when you were born, a petal fell on your head. The next baby walked up and asked, Mummy why is my name Rose? she replied, Because when you were born, a rose fell on your head. The last baby walked up to her and said, BLAS CLAFLAS YIFRASSAM TASSM POONNFFFIINRTY. The mother replied,  Because when you were small a refrigerator fell on your head.

  2. I'm sitting in my Arctic Fox in Phoenix wearing a T-shirt, and after looking at your pictures I got so cold I had to put on a long sleeve shirt over my T-shirt. Just looking at your pictures brought back frigid memories of when I lived in a cold, snowy, place like that. Hopefully next winter there will be some palm trees in your pictures.

  3. Loved the "reach out and touch" birds photos, however, the photos of the ladies having breakfast is the real keeper tonight.

  7. Al, hubby, now retired, makes tea almost every day and he DRINKS IT. There are so many different varieties! He even orders his favorite one a case at a time from WalMart. His favorite is the Tavo Passion (I think it is hibiscuis). I love their wild orange one and I drink that. At least he isn't sitting home, drinking beer!!!!! (a good thing)...

  8. With all those winds I'm sure the ice must be breaking up quite well along the shore. There is something about running through a small drift that takes us all back to being younger, braver and fearless. Haha.
