MY CATCH-UP POST

I did keep track of what I did on Monday and Tuesday so decided to include it with tonight's Wednesday post::

Monday July 22nd::  Two good things about Monday was breakfast with friends Richard and Gayle at Bayfield's Renegades Diner.  Good breakfasts at that place.  Second good thing about the day was of course our return to much cooler enjoyable weather.  I was so energized by the much healthier air I was up on my ladder cleaning eaves troughs and it wasn't even 9 a.m. yet:))
OUR PARK'S NEW MAILBOXES ARRIVED TODAY
AND THERE GO THE OLD HEAVY STEEL BOXES
KELLY STOPPED TO CHECK OUT THE INSTALLATION
THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF BABY BUNNIES AROUND THIS YEAR
Tuesday July 23rd:: Had to leave Pheebs at home today.  My Cat Scan was scheduled for 9:55 .m. at the Stratford General Hospital so I was on the road heading east by 8:30.  How nice to be rolling through the fresh cool air of our beautiful rural countryside on a fine summer's morn.  Sometimes things just come together in a right kind of way to lift one's spirits.  It was that kind of morning.
IT WAS A VERY SAD LITTLE DOGGY FACE AT THE WINDOW THIS MORNING WHEN I ROLLED OUT THE DRIVEWAY WITHOUT HER
Parked the Jeep at Stratford's Old Grove TJ Dolan Nature Area and walked up the John Street hill to the hospital.  I was early of course and after checking into the 'Imaging' section at the hospital they gave me a big Styrofoam cup filled with an orange flavored slightly thick liquid.  The cup had been lined off with a felt tipped pen showing 3 different levels.  At the selected times of 10:10, 10:40, and 11:10 a.m. written on the cup I had to drink the juice down to the next level.  That took about 45 minutes and the worst part was having to sit in the TV section of the waiting room with a television high on the wall blaring cooking shows down on me.  If that wasn't bad enough the next worst thing happened.  Well for me anyway.  I do not like game shows!!!!!!  And sure enough there it was with all the yelling, screaming, flashing lights, jangly ringing bells and people jumping up and down like they had springs on their shoes.  Soon as I saw 'The Price Is Right' I knew I was totally doomed to sit as a captive there and agonizingly listen  to the noisy racket.  But, just as I thought of fleeing the hospital I heard my name called.  Saved by a lady in black.
WALKING UP TO THE HOSPITAL'S FRONT ENTRANCE ON A BEAUTIFUL SUMMER MORNING

WAITING, WAITING, WAITING, AND WAITING SOME MORE
AND HERE'S MY BIG ORANGE DRINK MONDAY MORNING COMPLETE WITH INSTRUCTIONS DRAWN ON THE CUP
I was led further into the bowels of the hospital to a change room whereupon I swapped my duds for a couple blue gowns.  Next came a small waiting room for 10 minutes then I was led around the corner and asked to lay down on gurney.  An IV was started into my left arm and I lay there for about 20 minutes until told to walk into the Cat Scan room.  They laid me on some kind of a narrow bench affair, briefed me on what was about to happen and at exactly 12 o'clock noon the Cat Scanner was having it's way with me.  A dye was injected through the IV and I heated me up from the inside out like a Pillsbury Doughboy muffin.  Kind of a neat feeling which seemed to start in my feet and make it's way quickly through my body to the palms of my hands which were stretched straight up resting on the machine itself.  While this was going on I was inserted into the machine and some unseen person cranked it up.  Lots of whirring mechanical noises and with the big mechanical monster inches from my nose I could see a part of it's inner workings whirling past at a high rate of speed.  Kind of sounded like I was inside a washing machine with a pair of roller skates on.  A robotic voice from somewhere inside this noisy mossmagator device told me to hold my breath while the whirling dervish slowly traveled from my upper abdomen to my lower abdomen.  The machine then moved me back and told me to breath.  I found it all very interesting.  The procedure was repeated 4 times I think before a technician came back into the room and told me that was it, get up and walk so I got up and walked.  The actual Cat Scan itself took about 15 minutes.  Had to wait outside in a comfy chair for 15 minutes in a waiting area before the IV was removed from my arm and I was free to go.  Swapped my gowns for my duds and off I went out of the hospital likety split.
ANOTHER CHANGE ROOM AND YEP I BROUGHT MY ORANGE DRINK WITH ME
A real nice drive home with a stop along the way for a Tim Hortons coffee and carrot muffin to go.  Absolutely beautiful day with sunshine and small white puffy clouds dotting a deep blue sky.  With temperatures in the high 60's and no humidity it was a perfect weather day for this guy.  I was home shortly before 2 p.m.
EVEN SPOTTED A FEW COWS ON THE WAY HOME
We met Kelly's Son Ben and his two boys at Bayfield's Woodland Drive-In for hamburgers, hot dogs, and ice cream for supper.  Ben, wife Bri, and their 2 boys Darien and Kye are up for a short 4 day summer stay at Deer Park Lodge.
HEY THAT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE THE PHEEBS PEEKING OVER THE TABLE
While at the Woodland Drive-In Kelly was recognized by a couple Bayfield Blog readers.  Mary-Beth and Ken Larone have been following the blog for a few years now.  Nice folks along with their dog Sophie.  Today is moving day for them as they take up residence at their new Bayfield Mews location in Bayfield's south end right across the street from Cathie and Gord.
FIRST TIME MEETING MARY-BETH RYAN LARONE AND HER HUSBAND KEN OF BAYFIELD AND YES THAT IS AN ICE CREAM CONE I'M HOLDING
Wednesday July 24th::  Another very welcome cool morning saw Pheebs and I out for a Jeep ride and walk despite the biting Deer Flies.  Didn't want to pass up the opportunity of walking in healthier cool air.  Had us blue sunny skies with a nice northwesterly breeze.  Noticed farmers beginning to harvest their wheat fields.
TREADS AND WHEELS
SOMEWHERE THROUGH THAT MAZE OF TINES AND FORKS IS THE COMBINE'S CAB

Our next medical appointment will be this coming Monday when we head to London's University Hospital where Kelly is scheduled for a Doppler Ultra Sound.  It will be the first of two London appointments next week.
OH-OH I SEE SOME MUDDY JEEP SEATS COMING UP
COME ON PHEEBS YOU BETTER GET OUT OF THERE BEFORE YOU GET STUCK

I'M THINKING THIS MIGHT BE A RED ADMIRAL BUTTERFLY
SPOTTED THIS YOUNG WILD TURKEY
Because of my round shouldered sloutchiness I decided awhile back to order a back brace to see if it might help me from stumbling along in a stooped over forward position.  When we ordered it we didn't realize it was being shipped from China.  And, it was obviously on the slowboat from China too.  Took so long to get here I forgot we had even ordered it.  Needless to say after it arrived I went over the device with my magnifying glass looking for any imbedded spyware.  If we had found anything here was the return address:: Chengjun Jinjiang Dongting Trading Co. Ltd, 3F Lingling Stone Road Jinjiang City, (Formally) Baishida Furniture City, Quanzhoushi, Fujian 362205 China.....Hey no problem remembering that one eh.
TRYING OUT MY NEW SHOULDER BRACE
Ben, Darion, and Kai dropped over for a spaghetti supper and smores campfire tonight.  Notice Pheebs in the photos trying to mooch the kids marshmallows:))

KAI IS KEEPING THE FIRE STOKED
AL SAID HE SAW AN ELEPHANT RUN UP THIS TREE
GROANER'S CORNER:((  During one "generation gap" quarrel with his parents young Michael cried, "I want excitement, adventure, money, and pretty girls. I'll never find it here at home, so I'm leaving. Don't try and stop me!"  With that he headed toward the door.  His father rose and followed close behind.  "Didn't you hear what I said?  I don't want you to try and stop me."  "Who's trying to stop you?" replied his father. "If you wait a minute, I'll go with you."

  2. Loved the giant farm equipment pics. The Groaner also. Glad you checked the brace for spyware, they probably have cloth solar cells to power them now. Thanks also for the step by step Cat Scan procedure. Welcome back.

  3. When I lived on a Kansas Wheat farm we spread the Wheat Straw out over the field as we were cutting the Wheat. Do you think they are going to bale the straw? Would make sense, sell the bales and get a few more $$ from the field.

  4. Can't tell you what a lift it gave my spirits to find a post from you. Didn't matter what you said, then, it was even better because you were feeling chipper! Those modern machines they scrutinize us with are interesting. Crossing my fingers that the machines found out some good things for you. I think it would be fun to watch the machines bale the hay. Have seen many bales but not the process. Good
pictures, all, of them. I really like the young turkey one. Thanks again for my smile right now.

  9. I have had annual CAT scans since 2007 so I know the feeling. It is very interesting. Make sure you ask to see the results on a computer screen when you see your doctor. It is fascinating how they can take a three dimensional picture of your insides. I'd say the best part of your day was that peaceful drive home with a Tim's coffee and muffin.
