SUNNY DAYS AND ANGRY WAVES

NOW WHAT TROPICAL PARADISE COULD THIS BE
How nice to see brilliant shafts of morning sunlight piercing through our tall pine trees this morning.  Those rays came right in through our living room window and splashed their way across the floor.  Maybe they will bring a little warmth along with them.  Had to turn our furnace on for a bit Thursday night to take a damp chill out of the house.  And it's almost the middle of June.
Well where to go this morning I thought as I hauled myself out of my recliner.  Hadn't been done around the Grand Bend area for awhile so that's where we headed.  Took the scenic country road route.
WELL IT'S GRAND BEND ONTARIO OF COURSE

With north-westerly winds blowing onshore Lake Huron was rough and breaking over Grand Bend's pier.  Because of the lake's high level this year waves were sweeping across the pier making it unsafe to walk out to the light beacon at the end.
AN ANGRY WAVE DAY ON LAKE HURON
Every time I go to Grand Bend it is a trip down memory lane for me with memories going back to the late 1950's.  Lots of good memories and some not so good.  It's a booming little place in the summer and a favorite place for the teen-age crowd.  In fact the Bend can become so congested on week-end it's a good place for we older folks to stay away from.  Well, unless you don't mind being caught up in bumper to bumper traffic sometimes.  Definitely not for me anymore.

Slowly ambled our way back to Bayfield taking in the beautiful sunny morning along the way.  Sure glad I'm not in the work force anymore stuck in a factory or behind a retail counter.  Matter of fact I'm glad all those years are over and behind me.  There were some good times along the way but I sure would hate to have to go back and do it all over again.
Our fine weather day amazingly enough continued and with temps in the mid 60's it was nice to be outside in the gardens again.  Took our new mower for a twenty minute spin around the yard and that took care of this week's clover cutting.  Weatherman's predicting more rain again on Saturday.
SNUZZLES
With my furry little best Pal still shadowing me everywhere I go I've been taking her for more Jeep rides these last few days.  For the past three nights after publishing this silly blog of mine I've loaded the little Spoogers up and we've headed into Bayfield and cruised around the town for half an hour or so sometimes stopping in at the cemetery for a walk on the roads.  She really enjoys that and it takes her mind of 'missing Mom'.
Glanced up from my sunroom computer this afternoon and there was a Squirrel sitting on the suet feeder I had hung underneath the bird station platform.  No, not Little Red this time, it was Blacky the black Squirrel.  Blacky is about twice the size of Little Red and it's able to get a further up the feeder poll than Red.  And that is how Blacky got on to the hanging suet feeder.  Moved the feeder to the lower bird feeder platform which solves the Blacky problem but now the Crows can get at it again.  I don't know why I just don't save myself the frustration and take the whole bird station down and forget about all this bird stuff.
'LITTLE RED' AND 'BLACKY'

And photos from Spencerport New York today.  Hurd Orchards in Holley NY to be exact.  It was Hurd's annual Strawberry Shortcake Luncheon described by Hurds as and event with big bowls of strawberries with whipped cream and hot, freshly made biscuits... pitchers of daisies on farm tables nestled between summer salads and fresh breads with herb butters and jams.  Below are a few photos from Kelly's Blackberry phone at Hurd Orchards.

KELLY AND HER MOM
GROANER'S CORNER:(( A young lady came home from a date looking rather sad. She told her mother, "Arthur proposed to me an hour ago."  "Then why are you so sad?" her mother asked.  "Because he also told me he was an atheist. Mom, he doesn't even believe there's a hell.  "Her mother replied, "Marry him anyway. Between the two of us, we'll show him how wrong he is.

What's orange and sounds like a parrot? A carrot!

  1. I too have any memories of Grand Bend always a hopping place when we were younger. Love your pictures of the lake and Bonnie Doon Manor . Saw it was for sale earlier this year? But looks like they are back in operation.
Nice picture from Kelly and her mom. Nice that she can go visit with her.

  3. My favorite days to be on the Lakes were what I called the "busy water" days. Wonderful pictures. Thanks for letting us go there! I am glad you keep on fighting for the birds. Squirrels and crows. Maybe the crows are a passing problem, but not the squirrels. Forever outsmarting us. Glad to see such a good picture of Kelly and her mom. I'm sure they enjoy the time together. Hope you get some happy weather again tomorrow.

  4. Beautiful weather your way! Rain, rain and more rain over here in the Ottawa Valley. It cleared this evening so the men are out sitting around a bonfire feeding the mozzies. More rain moving in tonight. Beautiful flowers!

  6. Those are some angry looking waves on Lake Huron. I like the fenced off areas on the dunes. Yes Kelly's lunch sounds delicious and that's a great picture of her and her mom.

  7. So enjoyed ALL the pictures. So how much longer will Pheebs have to mourn his loss - he looks pitiful with his head thrown back...isn't it? Goodness, that is one very angry puddle out there. Have never seen a farm field with so many colors - can you explain?

    1. Kelly will be home a week from Sunday. And Pheebs (female) often tips her head back like that when she wants me to rub her tummy while driving along. I wondered about all those colors too. Had seen it in a few other fields as well.

  8. The only thing I miss about work is the paycheck. No more drama, politics, or being asked to do the impossible!
