SATURDAY MORNING IN AMISH-MENNONITE COUNTRY AND A DISTURBING AFTERNOON KNOCK ON THE DOOR

What to do on a rainy day?  Well what else, go out and play in the rain.  The Jeep 's country road dust of course is always needing a good washing off and what's an easier way to do that than a Saturday morning's gentle rain.  Temperatures have come up a bit putting a little warmth into the earlier part of the day.  Luckily the warmth didn't get carried away with itself and turn into an uncomfortably hot day.  So far so good this year.
YEP THAT'S PHEEBS OUR COW SMOOCHING DOG ALRIGHT
Hadn't been up through Amish/Mennonite country for awhile so with coffee in hand that's where Pheebs and I headed.  Rains quit soon as we got north of Bayfield.
I DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS TWO FELLAS IN THIS PHOTO UNTIL I EDITED THE PHOTO LATER
THERE ARE PROBABLY HALF A DOZEN OR MORE AMISH-MENNONITE SAWMILLS IN THIS AREA

One is almost guaranteed a few photos every time driving through the rural Amish/Mennonite countryside and this morning was no exception.  Folks were out and about working away at their farm chores.

Driving along I thought to myself, 'I sure do enjoy this photography hobby of mine'.  Where as hunters go out with their guns looking to shoot and kill things I go out with my camera to also shoot but no animals or birds have to pay with their lives for my hobby.  And I think that is pretty special.  In fact I think it is an even bigger challenge to hunt and shoot with a camera than a gun.  But anyway that's just me and that was one of the many thoughts rumbling around in my traveling head this morning.

Pheebs and I were home again around noon but with another dull day upon us I couldn't get myself too excited about any outside projects.  Matter of fact I could seem to get too excited about any inside projects either.  Just as well as I ended up with 147 photos to edit today.  I enjoy editing photos and I was able to whittle that 147 down to 102.  Way too many for tonight's post so I will have to stretch them out over a few days.
Had a disturbing knock at the door earlier this afternoon.  A young fella carrying a sheaf of manila envelopes said to me, "I guess you know this Park has been sold".  I said, "no I didn't know that". Rumors have been around ever since we moved here nearly 17 years ago but somehow today this fella at the door seemed legitimate about his claim of the Park being sold.  Said he could explain everything to me but I said 'no'.  No point him explaining anything to me then expect me to remember everything to tell Kelly when she gets home a week from Sunday.  Told him in our family 'my wife has the most good brains' and he would have to come back and explain things to her.  Said he was married too and totally understood that.  We men gotta stick together right??  Anyway, assuming the guy was on the level I'll wait and see if I get any feedback from anyone else in the Park.  The times may be a changing for us even faster than we previously thought:((

And a few more photos from Spencerport NY today.  Kelly's daughter Rebecca along with husband Ricardo and their daughter Ella drove down to Spencerport for the week-end.  I think it is the first time Ella ever met her Gramma.

  5. Wonderful shots of the Mennonite countryside especially all the livestock. Some nice pictures of horses including the mares and colts. I agree about photography as a hobby, no comparison to hunting
