EVERY TIME WE GO BY THIS ‘LEANING TOWER OF BRITTEN’ IT SEEMS TO BE LEANING EVEN MORE
At 32F it was a bit nippy stepping out of the coach in my summer PJ’s with Pheebs this morning. I’ll be glad when we’re home and I can let her out right from the comfort of my recliner with a hooked stick opening our patio door:))
I DON’T HAVE MUCH IN THE WAY OF PHOTOS TONIGHT
Had the big wheels up on I-40 East about 9:05. A big wave to long time blog reader Caroline way down south of of in a place called Childress. Thanks for all those emails over the years Caroline:))

Surprisingly there was no wind at all today as we rolled comfortably across the Texas panhandle. Again the traffic was light. This is a route we have used three or four times before.
MISSED THE OKLAHOMA STATE ‘WELCOME’ SIGN AND DIDN’T KNOW WE WERE IN OKLAHOMA UNTIL WE PULLED INTO THIS REST AREA
Our destination today was a familiar Walmart located in Weatherford Oklahoma 70 miles west of Oklahoma City. We have used this overnight spot before as a jumping off place to get around the north end of Oklahoma City in the dark pre-dawn hours. We used the toll roads back then skipping through before the morning rush. We will be doing Oklahoma City in a different direction Saturday morning.
OUR WALMART OVERNIGHT SPOT AND THAT IS I-40 THERE ON THE RIGHT
We still have not snapped on a TV since leaving home late last December but with our unlimited Verizon internet plan this winter we have been using our computers to keep up with things. Kelly can stream her favorite night shows and I can still check 3 of my favorite cable news channels periodically. No, not Fox news!!!! Our Verizion signal is not always strong but we manage. Although a ‘late bloomer’ to ‘You Tube’ I certainly have been watching my share of it lately and I’ve noticed my watching parallels my reading. Not much interest in fictionalized stuff. Watching old movies on my computer holds no interest for me either. I prefer the shorter reality based segments, biographies, and things to do with history or geography. Whether I continue my You Tube interest (maybe a habit now) after we arrive home remains to be seen……………….
GROANER’S CORNER:(( During a terrible storm, all the highway signs were covered with snow. The following spring, the state decided to raise all the signs twelve inches at a cost of six million dollars. “That’s an outrageous price!” said a local farmer, “but I guess we’re lucky the state handled it instead of the federal government.” “Why’s that?” “Because knowing the federal government, they’d decide to lower the highways.”
- “What do you call it when you take a picture of your favorite bookcase? A shelf-ie!”
- Waiter: How do you like your steak, sir? Sir: Like winning an argument with my wife. Waiter: Rare it is then Sir.
He was an inventor of note. He created a big shoe with a phone in the heel. Now, he thought, he could use a phone whenever he wanted. He made several more so that he could have several shoes with phones in the house. One day, an emergency came up and he needed a phone bad. Would you believe it, he couldn't find a single phone boot.
