TEXARKANA TEXAS TO GREENVILLE TEXAS: NO WE DIDN’T DO DALLAS TODAY AND….AWWW NUTS WHAT THE HELL NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DSC00987

DESPITE THE POURING RAIN I WAS ABLE TO GET ONE PHOTO OF OUR OVERNIGHT SPOT AT THE SHADY PINES RV CAMPGROUND IN TEXARKANA TEXAS

Cold rains continued all night and morning and there was no way I wanted to drive into heavy Dallas traffic in pouring rain today so we decided to go only as far as Greenville east of Dallas, pull into a Walmart Supercenter there and wait for the rain to stop which it was predicted to do sometime by early afternoon.

HEADING OUT OF SHADY PINES ON THEIR RAIN SOAKED CONCRETE ROADS…..NICE CAMPGROUND

In no big hurry to leave the Shady Pines RV Park and tangle ourselves up in morning Texarkana rush hour traffic we poked around putting in time.  Kelly re-arranged the pantry while I mainly plunked around on the computer and read for awhile.  Sure is nice to finally have hot water again and oh the trials and tribulations of RV travels eh.  A part of me will sorely miss our Snow Bird RV lifestyle every winter and another part of me will be greatly relieved when it’s finally over.

THANKS FOR SOLVING OUR WATER PROBLEM AND FIXING OUR FURNACE SHADY PINES….’BYE-BYE’

With no let-up in the rain we finally had the big wheels rolling at 9:05.  Instead of having to turn east and head back into the Texarkana traffic to I-30 we opted to take a longer route back to the Interstate.  Shady Pines is located on highway 67 and we saw that it connected with I-30 about 60 miles to the southwest of Texarkana.  Well it was a no brainer and needing a break from the Interstate we set out on highway 67.  What a nice quiet drive this was on a scenic two lane highway with very little traffic.  One of our better decisions.

BACK ON I-30 WE CONTINUED SLOSHING OUR WAY IN THE DIRECTION OF GREENVILLE TEXAS

Back on I-30 at Mount Pleasant we continued to plow ourselves through heavy rains at times.  And it stayed like that all the way to Greenville Texas where we decided to pull off into a Walmart Supercenter.  Now we certainly had no intentions whatsoever of going to Cracker Barrel again today but there was a Cracker Barrel near Walmart and I remembered their Thursday special was a turkey dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, biscuits, and dressing all for the low price of $5.99.  Well how could we pass that up eh so into the parking lot we went and minutes later we were chowing down our turkey dinner which of course turned out to be absolutely totally excellent.  Well done Cracker Barrel, you did it again:))

CRACKER BARREL HAD A NICE COZY FIRE GOING FOR US

I DON’T KNOW, JUST A BIG OLD ROCK IN SOME LUSH GREEN GRASS OUTSIDE OF CRACKER BARREL

Rains finally began to let-up shortly after 1 o’clock so had to decide if we wanted to head out for Dallas or wait until Friday morning when roads would hopefully be dried off.  I wasn’t really keen on getting mashed into the Dallas traffic chaos in pouring rain and road spray.  Weather forecast called for Friday to be a big bright sunny day so just figured it made the most big darn good sense to do Dallas Friday about mid morning.  So at this point that is the plan.

From Cracker Barrel we drove a few short blocks over to Walmart and banged around in there for awhile before returning to CB for the night.  Much quieter at Cracker Barrel than Walmart for sure and Pheebs has a big grassy area to go flying around on.

I DO APOLOGIZE FOR SO MANY SAME-SAME PHOTOS THESE PAST SIX DAYS (MOTORHOME, JEEP, CRACKER BARRELS, RAINY ROADS, ETC.)  IT’S JUST THE WORLD WE ARE LIVING IN RIGHT NOW………

Keep in mind as we move further west through changing time zones my nightly posts will be publishing later and later the further west we go.

And ‘AWWWW NUTS’………early this evening we discovered our water pump has quit working now.  What the hell next!!!!!!!!!!!

GROANER’S CORNER:((  WOMEN::  Women are honest, loyal, and forgiving. They are smart, knowing that knowledge is power. But they still know how to use their softer side to make a point. Women want to be the best for their family, their friends, and themselves. Their hearts break when a friend dies. They have sorrow at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.  A woman can make a romantic evening unforgettable. Women come in all sizes, in all colors and shapes. They live in homes, apartments and cabins. They drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you. The heart of a woman is what makes the world spin! Women do more than just give birth. They bring joy and hope. They give compassion and ideals. They give moral support to their family and friends. And all they want back is a hug, a smile and for you to do the same to people you come in contact with.

MEN:: Men are good at lifting heavy stuff, killing spiders, and sometimes taking out the garbage.

  1. Crap, Al! It's time you got a break. Just one problem after another! Why didn't the water pump go out in time for you to have it fixed, along with the other two problems? "When it rains, it pours" in more ways than one, huh? I am so sorry. Hopefully this will be just a little blip in an otherwise great winter escape. When we had problems with our RV's, we took them to Camping World, just south of Fort Worth.

  2. Fortunately it is usually an easy fix. You never know when it is going to happen which is why we carry an extra one with us. However on our way south this past October we had to call in a mobile tech to do the exchange as it was not an easy task in our RV. We only had to wait an hour for the floow to arrive and the cost was $100.00US for the labor. I hope that your fix will be as easy. Fingers crossed.

  3. Too much coincidence for me - water system repair yesterday and water pump today.? Check the Fuse ( if it has one ). Hopefully, tomorrow will bring Sunshine and blue skies and no more problems. You are Lucky to be in the Southwest to view the Blood Wolf Full Moon total eclipse coming up later this month !! 😳🌷😨 Yea !

  5. It has been wet and cool here in Cut & Shoot. I hope the rain is over for awhile. Maybe you will have a better, dryer drive tomorrow.

  7. I, like Moonfly, wondered if there is a connection between the first water issue and the latest one.......

  9. A leisurely travel day and a tasty turkey dinner. waiting out the storm then the water pump quite. Good lunch with that. Like Contessa we have a spare and have changed ours now on our 3rd one. But it does get a lot of use.
    Continued safe travels.

The main reason we don't have a Cracker Barrel closer to us than Yuma, AZ.
Hope you have a restful nights sleep.

Forgive me I was wrong there is a Cracker Barrel that's closer than Yuma, it's in Rialto CA and then there is one in Victorville CA. My bad.
