SMORES AROUND A SATURDAY NIGHT BACKYARD CAMPFIRE

DSC_1665

A pink sunrise through the pines was soon covered by a cool and cloudy morning sky.  That was fine with me knowing the Sun would only heat things up.   Until about 10 a.m. it was a T-Shirt, long sleeve shirt and light jacket kind of a morning.  Very nice:))  With a few things to pick up in Goderich Pheebs and I did our usual routine run before scurrying off back home.

Park resident guy Mike and his friend Jim were already at work taking the shingles off our wood shed roof in preparation of putting new wood and shingles on.  I had planned to take those shingles off myself but after climbing up my ladder a couple days ago I didn’t feel comfortable on that small steeper sloped roof about doing that.  Better left to someone who’s more at ease with doing those kinds of things so Mike took the shingles off himself.

With a week left before departure we’re starting to ramp things up a bit.  Gathering stuff together, etc.  Hard to believe only a week left before we head out.  Walked down around the corner to where the  new double wide home is going and was surprised to see the next two forested lots down there being cleared as well.

Said to Kelly this afternoon ‘I don’t know what I am going to use for an excuse now’.  Been complaining so much about the summer’s heat and humidity sapping my energy and today with a perfectly ideal 62F going on I was just as tired as ever.  I should have had enough energy to be outside doing somersaults around the yard but I actually fell asleep in my recliner ‘again’.  I did manage a short walk with Pheebs along the Pine Tree trail in our Park but that was about it:((

Kelly’s youngest son Ben and his two boys Darion and Kai came up to Bayfield today to spend some time at the beach and stay overnight in the Motorhome.  After supper we had us a backyard campfire with scores of smores:))

OKAY GUYS JUST ABOUT BEDTIME

Takes me a long time to warm up to kids but once I do and feel comfortable enough around the little Aliens to let the boxed up Kid inside of me come out to play I can be quite a character.  The word ‘zany’ comes to mind.  It’s true and I once saw that happen to me for a few years way back in the mid 80’s one time.

GROANER’S CORNER:((  Two priests were going to Hawaii on vacation and decided that they would make this a real vacation by not wearing anything that would identify them as clergy. As soon as the plane landed, they headed for a store and bought some really outrageous shorts, shirts, sandals, sunglasses, and etc. The next morning they went to the beach, dressed in their “tourist” garb and were sitting on beach chairs, enjoying a drink, the sunshine and the scenery when a “drop dead gorgeous” blonde in a tiny bikini came walking straight towards them. They couldn't help but stare and when she passed them, she smiled and said, “Good morning, Father” – “Good morning, Father,” nodding and addressing each of them individually, then passed on by. They were both stunned. How in the world did she recognize them as priests? The next day they went back to the store, bought even more outrageous outfits-these were so loud, you could hear them before you even saw them-and again settled on the beach in their chairs to enjoy the sunshine, etc. After a while, the same gorgeous blonde, wearing a string bikini this time, came walking toward them again. (They were glad they had sunglasses, because their eyes were about to pop out of their heads.) Again, she approached them and greeted them individually: “Good morning, Father,” “Good morning Father,” and started to walk away. One of the priests couldn't stand it and said. “Just a minute, young lady. Yes, we are priests, and proud of it, but I have to know, how in the world did YOU know?” “Oh, Father, don't you recognize me? I'm Sister Angela!”

Zen Logic:  Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either.  Just pretty much leave me alone……...or else!!

  1. Best not go on that roof if you are not comfortable, the other guys can do it. Nice to get out and about then a campfire, with young kids and smores. Can't help but bring the kid out of you.
