SAW A GREAT MOVIE IN SIERRA VISTA ARIZONA TODAY AND WE’RE ABOUT READY TO ROLL ON

DSC_0914

BACKGROUNDED BY THE HUACHUCA MOUNTAINS SUNDAY NIGHT LIGHTS ARE BEGINNING TO COME ON IN SIERRA VISTA ARIZONA

Can’t remember the last time I saw one of my favorite constellations in the star studded night sky but early this morning to the East I saw the large Scorpion, ‘Scorpius’.  Moonlight had hidden it up till now but with the Moon in it’s waning crescent stage Scorpius was clearly visible.  How nice to see one of my old Pals in the night sky again.

No further problems or discomfort with my legs so whatever that was that happened early Saturday morning I have no idea.  It just happened and that was that.  With our black tank gurgling we’ve decided to head out in the morning and dump our tanks behind the Valero Gas Station on the Northwest main corner of highways 90 and 92 in Sierra Vista.  Kind of an unlikely location for an RV dump station but there it is nevertheless.

TOOK THIS MORNING PHOTO OF A VERY SOPHISTICATED SURVEILLANCE BALLOON TETHERED TO THE GROUND VIA CABLE HIGH OVER TOP SIERRA VISTA

With our gray and black tanks filling up and and our fresh water tank going down we will soon have to decide when to pull up stakes here east of Sierra Vista and head on further west.  Will we move to a new location northwest of Sierra Vista or move ourselves on over somewhere west of Tucson.  I don’t know how we ever arrive at these destination decisions but somehow we do.  Well I guess I shouldn’t say that.  Weather is probably one of our main decision makers so we do check a week’s weather ahead of whatever direction we’re going.  Anything above 75F or below 60 isn’t going to interest us much so we do have a rather narrow window of  comfortable destinations.  For example, right now the Yuma area is too hot to be sitting or hiking around out in the desert for us.

ON OUR WAY TO THE MOVIES KELLY OPENS THE GATE TO THE REST OF THE WORLD

Hung around the rig a little longer than we usually do this morning.  The movie ‘Darkest Hour’ we wanted to see didn’t start till 12:35.  Years ago we preferred going to movies at night but now going to movies in the morning works much better for us.  Oh how times have a habit of changing.

Have to say right up front what a great movie ‘Darkest Hour’ was.  I could find no fault in this movie at all.  Yes it does stray from historical fact at times but the acting, casting, production and everything else involved with this movie is top rate.  I liked how the director transitioned between scenes and the casting likenesses to the actual people of the era was also well done.  Being the skeptical critic I am it is not often I can walk out of a movie theater thinking to myself, ‘now that was a great movie’ but that is exactly thought of ‘Darkest Hour’.  Two thumbs up for the movie and I think actor Gary Oldman should get an Oscar for his portrayal of Winston Churchill:))

UPDATE:: With our black tank gurgling we’ve decided to head out in the morning, dump the tanks behind the Valero Gas Station on the Northwest main corner of highways 90 and 92.  Kind of an unlikely location for an RV dump station but there it is nevertheless.  Keep in mind if you don’t hear from us tomorrow night it just means we’ve probably landed somewhere with poor Verizon reception and we’re working on the problem.

GROANER’S CORNER:((  An elderly man lay dying in his bed.   In death's agony, he suddenly smelled the aroma of his favorite chocolate chip cookies wafting up the stairs. He gathered his remaining strength, and lifted himself from the bed.   Leaning against the wall, he slowly made his way out of the bedroom, and with even greater effort forced himself down the stairs, gripping the railing with both hands, he crawled down the stairs.   With labored breath, he leaned against the door-frame, gazing into the kitchen. Were it not for death's agony, he would have thought himself already in heaven: there, spread out upon waxed paper on the kitchen table were literally hundreds of his favorite chocolate chip cookies.   Was it heaven? Or was it one final act of heroic love from his devoted wife, seeing to it that he left this world a happy man?   Mustering one great final effort, he threw himself toward the table, landing on his knees in a rumpled posture. His parched lips parted: the wondrous taste of the cookie was already in his mouth, seemingly bringing him back to life.  The aged and withered hand trembled on its way to a cookie at the edge of the table, when it was suddenly smacked with a spatula by his wife.   "Stay out of the cookies," she said, "they're for the funeral."

  2. Definitely agree about Darkest Hour. We don't do movies much. Hard to find anything worth rhe ridiculous cost. Fabulous sky/sunset pictures. Safe travels.

  4. Hate when that happens... black tank gurgling. That is a fine spot you have there, just about perfect in fact. So far Gary Oldman has won 2 best actor awards from Golden Globes and Critics choice, an Oscar is definitely in the cards. Agree its a very good movie. Love to see another movie that's a continuation of Churchills time as PM with same actors.
    Safe Journey you guys.

  6. Nice photos of Lowell. I really liked the prairie near the Whetstone Mountains last year. Got to make sure I go again. Hopefully during the horse gathering like last year. Beautiful country.
