WITH NO GREAT URGE TO GO ANYWHERE AT THE MOMENT WE ARE SIMPLY ENJOYING WHERE WE ARE

A BRISK BUNDLED UP EARLY MORNING WALK IN COLUMBUS NEW MEXICO (THAT’S KELLY WALKING AHEAD OF ME)

Nice to have a quiet ‘off the road’ night and I so much appreciated being able to again stand out under an unobstructed starry night sky.  Pretty darn special for me.

WE WERE BEING CLOSELY WATCHED THIS MORNING

It was out the door into the brisk morning air with all three of us early today.  Our walk began with long shafts of orange Sunlight climbing their way over the distant horizon.  Morning’s frosty night air chilled the thermometer at 27 degrees and I knew Old Sol had a ways to go if he was going to hike today’s temps up to the predicted 70F.  To me it felt warmer than that this afternoon.

Turned out to be a busy morning for us.  After 6 days on the road things were needing a good cleaning up so Kelly got right at it inside the rig.  By 8 o’clock I already had 2 loads of laundry in at the Park’s laundry facility.  After hosing down the Motorhome and Jeep Thursday afternoon all the glass in both vehicles needed cleaning again.  Water spots.  A couple coach bins needed reorganizing so I got at that as well.  It was a nice feeling being outside in sunshine and warm air so I didn't mind scurrying about doing things.  Just knowing we didn’t have to drive anywhere for a change was a form of rest and relaxation in itself.  Finishing up our morning work bee we both coasted through the afternoon lazing around not doing too much of really anything.  Tipped back in our outside chairs and soaked up some warm Sun for awhile.

PHEEBS MET ONE OF THE LOCAL FELLAS AND WASN’T TOO IMPRESSED

And Doug and Yuma from Miss Adventure Travels are back on the road heading for the warm and sunny Southwest.  Bit of a shaky start for the guys with Doug having some problems with his Class C not starting.  Might want to drop around and see how those guys are making out.

We have no idea how long we’ll be here or where we will go when we leave.  It’s nice knowing we don’t have to be anywhere for any reason.  We will simply carry on getting ourselves back together from our long journey until the travel urge moves us on down the road a little further West somewhere.  We’ll wait and see which way the wind blows us……………

TONIGHT’S MOON

GROANER’S CORNER:(( Mary Poppins was traveling home, but due to worsening weather, she decided to stop at a hotel for the night. She approached the receptionist and asked for a room for the night.
"Certainly madam", he replied courteously.
"Is the restaurant open still?" inquired Mary.
"Sorry, no," came the reply, "but room service is available all night. Would you care to select something from this menu?"
Mary smiled and took the menu and perused it. "Hmm, I would like cauliflower cheese please," said Mary.
"Certainly madam," he replied.
"And can I have breakfast in bed?" asked Mary politely. The receptionist nodded and smiled. "In that case, I would love a couple of poached eggs please," Mary mused. After confirming the order, Mary signed in and went up to her room for the night.
The night passed uneventfully and next morning Mary came down early to check out. The same guy was still on the desk.
"Morning madam...sleep well?"
"Yes, thank you," Mary replied.
"Food to your liking?"
"Well, I have to say the cauliflower cheese was exceptional, I don't think I have had better. Shame about the eggs tho....they really weren't that nice at all," replied Mary truthfully.
"Oh...well, perhaps you could contribute these thoughts to our Guest Comments Book.
We are always looking to improve our service and would value your opinion," said the receptionist.
"OK, I will...thanks!" replied Mary....who checked out, then scribbled a comment into the book. Waving, she left to continue her journey.
Curious, the receptionist picked up the book to see the comment Mary had written.
"Supercauliflowercheesebuteggswerequiteatrocious!"

  1. I know you and Kelley are happy to be warm again, well at least later on in the day. A day or 2 of not driving will be feel great.

  2. Glad you have a chance to relax now. You left just in time. So cold back in here in Ontario. Hope that cat isn't a stray.🐾

  3. Awesome for you to be down south in the warmth. So much better up in the ice storm heading into the NE. We had a high in the 20's yesterday, then the wind shifted and it was in the 60's all day. Washed the car, poked around outside. Wind shifted again, and in 30 min, our temps were below 40. Such is winter here along the front range of CO. Enjoy the warmth.

  7. Glad to read you are enjoying our southern New Mexico sunshine and warmth. Some moisture would be nice for us though as it has become pretty scarce this fall and winter so far. Albuquerque has gone around 85 days without any moisture - almost one of the top 5 records for them. Enjoy your stay in Columbus and recoup. I enjoy my little trips down there and to The Pink Store.

  10. Thanks for the plug Al. It has been a hectic couple days for me. I don't travel well. Always in a hurry to get there.

Glad to see you three are somewhere warm. I'll be in Odessa tonight and a cold front is heading my way. Right now I'm trying to get out of this icy drizzle here in Sweetwater Texas. I'll be in Deming tomorrow night.

  11. Nothing better than traveling with no time issues or agendas, at least where it's nice and warm! ;c)

  12. Me and my dog also travel together. Of course, this interferes with my studies. But I buy an essay and other academic papers and I have a lot of time for traveling and entertainment.
