TODAY MAY HAVE BEEN THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM AS SNOW HEADS OUR WAY

It was over a dozen years ago I bought myself two pairs of warm lined work oriented winter pants at Marks Work Warehouse in Goderich.  With no need to wear them these past 11 RVing years they have been languishing in my drawer.  Two days ago after I heard my pants calling my name I hauled them out and imagine my surprise when I still fit into them just fine.  With temperatures heading for the freezing mark and beyond in a couple days it will be those pants keeping my legs nice and toasty warm.

With sunshine barreling over the eastern horizon Pheebs and I were soon on the move knowing this very likely could be our last sunny morning for awhile with more rain now predicted for Thursday and cloudy weather after that.  No matter that the temperatures today only reached about 42 it was nice and toasty in the Jeep and us bums was dressed warm anyway.

WELL OKAY IT WAS A SMALL PILE BEHIND A BUILDING

IT WAS BEHIND THIS BUILDING WHICH HAPPENS TO BE A HOCKEY ARENA METHINKS

IN ZURICH ONTARIO THIS WAS PHEEBS HOUSE BEFORE WE KNEW HER

AND IT WAS IN THAT ROOM WITH ALL THE WINDOWS THAT WE MET HER FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME  IN AUGUST OF 2011

We wandered down around the Zurich area then east of there about a mile to a place called Commemorative Woods where knew there to be a walking trail.  It’s one of our usual stopping points but we had never walked the trail before.  Mosquitos are always bad in the summer months there so with no chance of that today we headed off on a 40 minute walk on a nice trail through a hardwood forest.  For sure we will be back to do it again at some point.

NOTICED A FEW UNUSUAL TREE TRUNK ROOT FORMATIONS ALONG THE TRAIL

QUITE OFTEN WITH THESE FOREST PHOTOS YOU CAN FIND A LITTLE PHEEBER BUNS IN THEM AND SHE’S USUALLY FURTHER UP ALONG THE TRAIL

And speaking of forests be sure to read the Furry Gnome’s latest post at Seasons In The Valley where he talks about walking, hiking, and sauntering.  I fit in comfortably with the sauntering crowd.  I joined a hiking club in Stratford Ontario one time but they all walked too fast for me and never took the time to stop and look at stuff.  Needless to say I didn’t last long in that club.  Walking is what I should do more of and sauntering is what I do most of.  Always carrying a camera or two while outside sauntering fits in perfectly with my lifestyle and what I see around me.  The Furry Gnome and I have like interests so I always check out his post to see what he is up to.

 

HOW NICE IT WAS TODAY WALKING ALONG RUSTLING MY FEET THROUGH THE AUTUMN LEAVES ON THE FOREST FLOOR

ALL OF THE ABOVE FUNGI  WERE FOUND ON THIS FALLEN TREE

There are still enough colored leaves on some trees to make the landscape invitingly interesting so I soaked up as much of the scenery as I could again.  We didn’t range out too far today and were home again by 11.

I THINK THE LAST TIME I DID A MOON SHOT WAS PROBABLY LAST WINTER SOMEWHERE IN THE SOUTHWEST…..UNTIL THIS MORNING

Another good day for wrapping up outside things like raking leaves and pine needles.  Hung up some extra bird feeders and took my leaf blower for a walk.  So nice to see shafts of sunlight tumbling down through the tall pines and alighting on our golden poplar and maple trees.  And the warmth of that sun beaming through our sunroom windows felt absolutely marvelous.

ANOTHER NICE WALK FOR PHEEBS AND I AROUND THE PINE TREE TRAIL THIS AFTERNOON

On the local news tonight it said we are under a snow squall advisory as a fast moving cold front from Northern Ontario and Manitoba rolls into our area beginning overnight.  Also said there may be a chance of a flash freeze.  The storm is predicted to ramp up by Thursday night with lake effect snow in our area and possible white-out conditions.  Oh Dear………….:((

ROLLING INTO OUR PARK THIS MORNING I SNAPPED A FEW QUICK PHOTOS

COUPLE WEEKS AGO I HAD PHOTOS OF TWO HALVES OF A NEW HOUSE SITTING ON TRAILERS  HERE IN OUR PARK AND YESTERDAY THEY MOVED BOTH THOSE HALVES ONTO A CEMENT FOUNDATION AND JOINED THEM TOGETHER

OUR HOUSE IS THE LAST ONE ON THE LEFT AT THE END OF THIS ROAD

BACKING INTO OUR DRIVEWAY I SNAPPED A PIC OF A NEIGHBOR’S HOUSE

Well it’s finally official!!  Tim Hortons will have a shovel in the ground this Spring and hope to have their Bayfield coffee shop up and running by next Fall.  And I think there is a gas bar going in with that as well and the complex will be in Bayfield’s south end right on the west side of highway 21 between the car wash and the Foodland supermarket.

Two friends, Jim and Paul are in a bank, when, suddenly, armed robbers burst in. While several of the robbers take the money from the tellers, others line the customers up against a wall and proceed to take their wallets, watches, etc. While this is going on, Jim slips something into Paul's hand. Without looking down, Paul whispers, "What is this?" Jim replies, "It's that $50 I owe you."
