A NEW WATCH AND ANOTHER DAY OF PROGRESSIVE PUTTERING

A TOUCH OF COLOR BEGINNING TO APPEAR IN THE TOPS OF THOSE HARDWOOD TREES

How nice at 6 a.m. when stepping out with Pheebs not to feel frigid cold air for a change.  Stood in the still darkness listening to sounds all around as a chorus of Frogs filled our pre-dawn morning air with song.  A few chirpings somewhere nearby in the tall pine trees.  Early birds I presume.

THE HULLETT MARSH IS ALWAYS ONE OF OUR FAVORITE STOPPING PLACES

If I looked at my bare left wrist once I looked at it a dozen times since Sunday afternoon and every time I looked, what I was looking for wasn't there.  Our mission this morning was to find me a new wrist watch.  With that thought in mind we piled ourselves into the Jeep and away we went.  A mixture of sun and clouds this morning and I’m guessing me might have made it to well over 70F later in the day.

RED BRANCHES OF THE ‘DOGWOOD’ ARE ALWAYS NICE TO SEE THIS TIME OF YEAR

After looking at my usual fare of $14.95 watches I was discouraged by the selection.  Even the $25 watches didn’t didn’t appeal to me.  A lot of digital stuff but that is not what I wanted.  A simple face with the numbers 1 to 12 and it had to be clearly visible to my aging eyes.  Didn’t need anything fancy with a lot of do-dads on it but it did have to have the ‘lighted dial’ feature whereupon I can see the watch face in darkness.  That’s very handy for timing photo exposures at night.  I settled on a ‘Timex Expedition’ with leather strap.  More than I wanted to pay of course but I’m hoping this one will at least last me for the next 50 years.

After getting ourselves into a big sticky mess again I’ve decided no more Tim Horton’s carrot cake muffins.  Not that they don’t taste good but it’s just not the best kind of soft center muffin to be eating while driving and sharing with my best Pal.

GATHERING STORM CLOUDS

SEEING MORE AND MORE OF THESE SINGLE STANDING SOLAR  UNITS ON FARMS

We hit a few of our favorite spots and were back home around 11.  Rest of the day was spent again in a state of putter.  Nothing too exciting except for the brief thunder storm that rolled over us earlier in the afternoon.

  1. Not too long ago I was using the phrase..."at our age we...." when talking to a friend who is three years older than I am. She kindly looked at the and said, "Don't you realize today's 60 is the new 40." That made me pretty happy as I enjoyed being 40 the first time so why not do it again.

  6. Wow! There's some kind of dial on that watch. Sort of like a guage! Think you'd better re-set the display! Where's the time and camera function, lol.
