HAVE YOU EVER TYPED YOUR OWN NAME INTO A ON-LINE SEARCH ENGINE? YOU MAY BE SURPRISED BY WHAT YOU FIND

With freezing hands after filling up the bird feeder & breaking ice in the bird bath I quickly retreated back into the house & resigned myself to just staying there until Thursday’s cloudy morning let enough sun through to warm things up.  I so much do not like cold weather just as much as I so much do not like hot weather!!  Where can we live that has nice steady & comfortable temperature of 75F each day with no humidity & lots of sunshine.  And warm nights too………..

Spent part of my day reading & was actually able to grab some new bird photos while stretched out in my backyard gravity chair.  Air was still a wee touch cool but this afternoon’s warming sun sure felt nice.DSC_0001

George & Suzie are soon headed to Borrego Springs California so I sent George an email with directions to the Great Stone Eagle in case they decide on a day trip up around Warner Springs way.  This is quite an impressive natural stone structure & in case anyone is interested in seeing it if they are in the Borrego Springs area here is my post for the day we went In Search Of The Great Stone Eagle.  Driving directions are in the post.

Have you ever typed your own name into a search engine?  I did that today & was surprised at how many times my name, my photos, & the Bayfield Bunch kept coming up in different websites.  It put a smile on my face each time I recognized one of my own photos being used for a good purpose.  Some pictures had a photo credit & some didn’t but that’s alright I’m just happy that someone or some organization has thought enough of my photos to include them in their brochures & advertising etc.  I didn’t see any of my photos that I felt were not used in a proper way.  Like I have said many times in my posts if people enjoy looking at my photos as much as I enjoy taking them then that’s a bonus for me.  If my photos are used in a positive way by someone then that’s an added bonus for me.  It’s my way of giving a little something back & I’m perfectly happy to continue taking photos for folks as long as they enjoy looking at them:))

AND I WASN’T THE ONLY ONE OUT ENJOYING THE AFTERNOON SUN

GROANER’S CORNER:((   An elderly gentleman had serious hearing problems for a number of years. He went to the doctor and the doctor was able to have him fitted for a set of hearing aids that allowed the gentleman to hear 100%. The elderly gentleman went back in a month to the doctor and the doctor said, "Your hearing is perfect. Your family must be really pleased that you can hear again."  The gentleman replied, "Oh, I haven't told my family yet. I just sit around and listen to their conversations. I've already changed my will three times!!"

  1. Because of my last name (Read), all I get is a bunch of resuts about a guy named Kevin who read something!

I also have no hangups about my photos being used. Sometimes we get requests for the use, sometimes we don't. Doesnt bother me at all, and I'd rather not have to go through the hassle of putting our name on each photo. Besides, it takes away from the photo.

  4. To get the most consistent weather throughout the year, you want to look near the Equator. You also want to look at altitude to reduce the temperatures from what exists at the Equator at sea level. Maybe Ecuador? You can probably find yearly and monthly temperature and precipitation for almost anywhere, once you find the right websites. Something to do until Arizona warms up...

  6. Those are beautiful photos of the cardinal. I have typed my name in all the search engines and find it's a very popular name. I hardly ever show up on them but my blog does ... not for the hounds so much but posts I wrote about almost buying the Lil Snoozy Trailer in 2013.

  11. Great pics, guess you stay still and they relax around you. I ran into a guy yesterday, noticed he had a Nikon that looked like mine, so I asked what model? It did not take long to get his view on people using his great pics with water mark ( he suspected people remove it ). I let him know I am less than amateur and post mine and have no care if someone finds one worth using. He then went into a rant about people using his great pics he puts on Facebook. He had a nicer Nikon than me and a lens I could only dream about. " This thing? I only use it for snap shots ". I can only hope he got some good rocket launch pics into the Sun. Mine were out of focus, due to operator error. I must read the book again.

  12. I'm always surprised when googling my name just how much I'm "out there" especially as pre-blogging I tried hard to stay anonymous. I figure by putting my photos on the internet they will be used, and hopefully appreciated. Can't imagine anybody making money off them. Yet I've sold two photos without even trying. That felt good. Enjoy the birds and hopefully the warming temperatures.

you may not have gone further enough If you're just looking on the website that's one thing go to images in Google search title and look at the collage of photos that you have entered under your blog site

  15. A couple years ago while in Borrego Springs, we followed your directions to the stone eagle. There were "No Trespassing" signs on the fence. A pickup truck came out of the gate and we asked him if was OK to go in. He said that was not the owner of the property and couldn't give us permission. He said the owner comes out often to check his cattle. We couldn't bring ourselves to cross the fence when it very obviously said not to.
