BEAUTY IS ALL AROUND US, WE JUST HAVE TO BE PATIENT ENOUGH TO SEE IT

DSC_5791

Dodging early Friday morning rain showers I was able to lay down 14 rolls of sod before heavier rains were upon us.  Just a little backyard project I have been working on.  Had ordered enough sod to do a stretch 5’x24’ but after picking up the rolls in Goderich with the utility trailer Friday afternoon & returning home I changed my plans.  Decided at the last minute to include a larger area so will have to return next week to Art's Landscaping & pick up another dozen rolls to complete the job.

I HAD ORIGINALLY PLANNED ON ONLY DOING THAT LONG NARROW PART ON THE LEFT BUT ADDED THE SECTION ON THE RIGHT AT THE LAST MINUTE

Thanks to readers for your kind words on my Thursday post.  When I did my nature slide presentations years ago at the Stratford Art Gallery & various Seniors homes I would always impress on people you do not have to travel to exotic lands & locations to find our world’s beautiful wonders.  They are right outside your own door in the flowerbeds, the trees, & your neighborhood.  One just has to take the time to understand & appreciate the beauty which abounds around us.  It is one of the greatest joys in having a photography hobby.  If you have a genuine interest in photography & if you carry a camera around everywhere you go like I do you will soon find a whole new world of color, shadows, & shapes opening up for you.  The more time you spend with your camera the more you are going to see.  After awhile when your mind becomes attuned you will begin noticing things you never saw before, were ever aware of, or were even looking for.   Your subconscious will become instinctively aware of those shapes, colors, & shadows everywhere you go & in everything you do.  You will not have to go searching for photos because photos will simply show up & tap you on the shoulder saying ‘here I am’.  A solitary shaft of sunlight through a forest canopy alighting on a single leaf will catch your attention, a shadow cast across a room, fiery colors sweeping an overhead sky at sunrise or the soft glow of sunset on someone’s cheek.  This can all be part of a new world for you, a new beginning perhaps.  The challenge of a flittering Butterfly & the busyness of a Honey Bee.  Beauty is all around us & all’s we have to do is take the time to see it.  And if you have a camera with you, you can share what you see with others……………………………..

GROANER’S CORNER:(( A marketing type managed to corner me at the mall and was asking a series of survey questions:
"Which shaving cream do you use?"
"Baba's." The interviewer dutifully recorded my answer and proceeded with the next question.
"Which aftershave do you use?"
"Baba's."
"Which deodorant do you use?"
"Baba's."
"Which toothpaste do you use?"
"Baba's."
"Which shampoo do you use?"
"Baba's."
"Which soap do you use?"
"Baba's."
"Thank you. I have one final question: tell me please, What is Baba's? Is it a foreign company?"
"No, Baba is my roommate."

  1. I like my little point and shoot camera for it's weight and ease of carry. Craig has a much bigger camera, but I think I get better mid range shots than he does. The next camera I get will have a better ability to shoot close ups. My last one did and cost less than this one! I do look more closely and appreciate what I see more now, much because of your work. Thank you for the close view.

  5. Love the floating leaves. Yes, the camera has made a difference in what I see, even when I don't have it with me as you said. Appreciating where we are and what we're seeing at the moment is a blessing
