IT IS DAY 24,721

WISPY WATER REFLECTIONS

It was the absence of sound on the trail that first caught my attention this morning.  There were no yammering Crows darting about & that told me one of two things had probably happened in the night.  Either the young Great Horned Owl had died or it had managed to get dried out enough to make it's way out of the underbrush & take to the air.  I think we are all together in our hopes, but also realistic in our fears.

I take my hat off to the folks out there who actually take an active part in doing what they can on a continuing basis to help the less fortunate animals in our world.  Chinle is one of those individuals who has willingly given of her time to help make life easier for many of our feathered & furry Pals.  Check out Chinle's post, SECOND CHANCE.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Kelly had a few free hours this morning so we headed off to Mitchell to see Uncle Harry.  Always a nice back roads drive there & back each time & with the sunshine & much cooler temperatures it was a treat to be in the countryside.  All was well & fine with Harry.  Not too many new & exciting things happening any more when one is 96 & confined to a Nursing Home facility.

THAT’S MY UNCLE HARRY IN ARMY UNIFORM YEARS AGO (MID 40’S I’M GUESSING) & THAT’S MY DAD LEANING ON HIS SHOULDER…MY DAD IN AIR FORCE UNIFORM ON HIS MOTORCYCLE & MY AUNT JEAN (HARRY’S SISTER) ON THE BACK & PROBABLY WITH HARRY’S ARMY CAP ON

Had one of my low energy days which I will just chalk up to another poor night’s sleep.  Didn’t even get Pheebs out for a walk around the trail this afternoon but we did make it for a stroll around the pond tonight.  Always so pretty with the evenings low setting sun filtering lazily through the tall Pine trees.  Air is calm & the leaves are still.  It is day 24,721 of my life as I wind down another evening seated at my keyboard in the sun room surrounded by soft ambient music.  Kelly’s in her recliner watching TV in the living room & the Pheebs is sound asleep on the couch right behind me.  For today, all is well here at the Bayfield Bunch:))

<<< AND, JUST IN CASE YOU DIDN’T THINK I HAD A LITTLE COWBOY IN ME:))

GROANER’S CORNER:((  Mildred, 93, was despondent over the recent death of her husband Earl, so she decided to just kill herself and join him in death. Thinking it would be best to get it over with quickly, she took out Earl's old Army pistol and made the decision to shoot herself in the heart, since it was so badly broken in the first place. Not wanting to miss the vital organ and become a vegetable and a burden to someone, she called her doctor's office to learn her heart's exact location. "Since you're a woman," the doctor said, "your heart is just below your left breast.  Why do you ask?" She hung up without answering. Later that night, Mildred was admitted to the hospital with a gunshot wound to her knee.

  3. I often wonder just how many photos of kids on a pinto pony are lurking around basements. They used to walk the streets in Calgary going door to door.

  7. Funny you should mention helping the fortunate, about two weeks ago i spotted two very confused baby raccoons in the middle of the highway. I stopped to get them off the busy road and got one, went to get the other one but some non caring sob just had to hit it. I mean cmon! everyone else stopped! So rockie is a male, about 5 - 6 weeks old and is doing well! After i cleaned him up by removing some ticks and making sure he was otherwise ok, he took straight to the bottle of lactose free baby formula (thanks Abigail!) he will be going to a wildlife sanctuary in Stayner on Monday. We will miss him but he needs to learn the ways of the Bandit!
