A WINDY DAY KEEPS THE BUNCH CLOSE TO THE RIG

A QUIET MORNING START TO OUR DAY

DSC_0005

Always nice when we do not have to fire up our Blue Flame heater at night.  Still have not heard a single Coyote in the neighborhood since being here.  A calm lazy morning just doing a whole lot of nothing.  After Monday’s Jeep run up to Harquahala Peak we figured a day of nothing was the way for us to go today.  Winds starting picking up around 11 & just kept increasing in strength all day.  By mid afternoon the coach was beginning to rock pretty good & our outside furniture started moving around.  Time to batten down the hatches.  At least the winds were warm for most of the day:))

AND A QUIET MORNING FOR RVSUE AND HER CANINE CREW AS WELL

Wednesday we are off to MIKE & PAT'S just up the road at NORTH RANCH for a Buffalo Burger supper.  Mike said he was going to go out & rustle himself up a Buffalo today.  Thursday we have a Jeep Safari lined up with Jim & Bev, also from North Ranch.  Had an email this afternoon from Peter at AMERICAN TRAVELER who has just landed in the Vulture Peak area so we will be meeting this fellow Boondocking Blogger at some point shortly as well.

PHEEBE FINDS ONE OF HER OLD PALS ON OUR MORNING WALK

Had a few questions about the HITCHITCH site I mentioned in my post a few days ago.  I think there may be somewhere on the site where you can apply to have your blog included in their list of travel blogs.

DSC_0004

We have been on & off Hitchitch a few times over the years & I seem to recall it took us awhile to get on the site after first applying.  We were on for awhile & then one day I noticed we had been taken off.  It was in the summer & figured it was because we were Snow Birds & not traveling the summer months.  When we were on the road again I re-applied & sent a couple emails to the folks who look after the site.  After a bit I noticed we were back on Hitchitch again & we have been on ever since.

THERE IS A WIDE DIVERSITY OF SCENERY WHERE WE ARE

Also, a question why we don’t take the Motormouse on our Jeep trips.  The little Motor is 15 now & would much sooner stay home basking in a warm sunny spot than be bouncing around all over the place upside down in the Jeep.  She is also much harder to keep track of on a hike because of her small size & the fact she blends in with the rocks & has a habit of wandering off & not coming when called.

SPOTTED THESE HORSES ON AN AFTERNOON WALK WITH PHEEBS

Camille from PROTECH MOBILE RV SERVICE over there in that Florida place had a question wondering if we were into Geocaching.  We did join a Geocache site a few years ago & got ourselves a Delorme P-40 GPS unit.   But, for whatever reason, our interest waned & we just never did get ourselves into the Geocaching spirit.  I do agree it’s a great way to get people off their duffs & out into the countryside using modern technology to place tiny treasures for other like minded people to find.  It’s not so much about the tiny treasures at the end of the trail & all about the challenging trail ride to get there.

TOOK THESE PHOTOS THROUGH A WINDOW BESIDE MY CHAIR AS THESE HORSES MOVED THROUGH LATE THIS AFTERNOON

Question about disposing of the cow plops on our site yesterday.  When boondocking, I always dig a hole away from the site to put the dog poop in each day as I scoop it up.  Cow plops went in there.  When we leave I fill in the hole & everything is buried & lookin good for the next boondocker at the site:))   I remember Rick from Darby Well telling me he sometimes builds an unlit campfire for whosoever should come to the spot after he leaves.  Thought that was a right nice thing to do.

GROANER’S CORNER:((   A dog thinks: Hey, these people I live with feed me, love me, provide me with a nice warm, dry house, pet me, and take good care of me ... They must be Gods!
A cat thinks: Hey, these people I live with feed me, love me, provide me with a nice warm, dry house, pet me, and take good care of me ... I must be a God!

  1. I don't like to get up close to horses, like at a parade or fair, but those pictures are just beautiful beautiful

  2. Thanks for answering the question about Motor. I know how she feels somedays, as I'm not so young anymore myself.

It's cool for you guys to take RVSue under your wing as a neighbor. We had some winds up here in the Moab ara too, and the dust in the air made for an amazing sunset.

    Love the flowers!

  6. Too windy for a campfire here today...and looks the same for tomorrow...But we aren't complaining...Illinois is still cold and windy there...I feel Cora's pain...my feet now hurt all the time when we walk...basically it just sucks!

  7. That's a nice idea about building the next guy a campfire. I suppose it wouldn't be as nice if I built it with cow plops.

I took a page out of your book (sorry, hope it wasn't a library copy) and rustled up a bag of garbage from around the campsite. Perplexing what people think oughta go under a bush.

  8. You will so enjoy Peter and Bea of American Traveler - but just wait until you meet their Molly girl. She is just gorgeous.

  9. I love the pics of the purple flowers. Every time I see the pic of Pheebs she reminds me of a dog I had a long time ago. She is a perfect size for traveling. What a cutie. I also have an old dog that wouldn't be out on the trails. He likes to sleep a lot too!

  10. Your ability to capture beauty around you (Kelly being first and foremost :-}) both with photo and words is indeed a gift. We've been to most of the same places yet seeing the sites through your eyes has given us a new perspective.

  11. I think that wind is blowing all the way up here to Sacramento. When you get back to Ontario you will have to make friends with a farmer who owns cows - set up some play dates for Pheebs!

  15. Love your idea of burying the cow and horse paddys ! and of leaving a fire set up for the next person. One question? where do you get all the great jokes that you post in the groaners corner. Your blog is to fun.

  16. We don't hear the coyotes around here, but the small four legged unattended snacks keep disappearing.

  17. Loved the horse photos Al! And the groaner!

  18. Windy up here too. Even lost power last night so became a boondocker. Then discovered my 12v not working. One more thing for the list. Homes whether mobile or stationary do require maintenance.

Got some nice shots of the horses coming past. Glad your camera batteries were charged up.

Have a great time playing in the desert this week.

  19. A nice calm day after your busy "jeeping" one of yesterday. Everyone needs one of those now and then.
By the pictures of the horses I think perhaps you'll be seeing a baby or two if you don't move soon. A couple of them look like they're in foal, or maybe just being fed too well? :o)

  20. Hey Al, just noticed you put me on your blog roll. Thanks so much, I feel like I'm now rubbing elbows with real celebrities (Pheebs and the rest of the Bayfield Bunch). :)

Doesn't get any better than that.

and ain't no Yankees say it?? They
    say 'dinner' or rather 'dinnah'!!
I just read something disturbing about the 'leather' in Damons.(iRV2.com)!!!
