Our dearly beloved number one boy Max died peacefully this morning at 11:25. He quietly slipped away in our arms at the same Veterinary Clinic in Zurich Ontario where Checkers passed on just one week ago to the day.
Our love & attention is now solely focused on our dear little Cora who many know as, Motormouse.
Once we were five & now we are three.......
Al and Kelly, I can't believe what I am reading. I am so, so, sorry for your loss, especially coming so quickly after Checkers. Al, I'm sure this will hit you particularly hard since Kelly will be leaving to help her mother. So glad you have Cora to help while you are grieving. My heart goes out to you, friends.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you. I can't imagine the hurt you must feel. Please know you are in my prayers. May God help you to get through these terrible events, so close together.
ReplyDeleteOmg. we are so so sorry, this is just too much. Thinking of you and Kelly and little Cora.

ReplyDeleteAt least max and Checkers was able to enjoy your last adventure and you did get some great pictures of your fur kids along the way.

ReplyDeleteAl and Kelly.... words can not express what we are feeling for you two right now...
ReplyDeleteHUGS to you both
Al, my heart breaks for you and Kelly. Losing one pet is unbelievably difficult. I can't imagine the pain of losing two. If any words can provide comfort, from reading your blog the past few months, I know that both Max and Checkers were loved dearly and enjoyed their adventures to the Southwest.
ReplyDeleteAl and Kelly we are so sorry for your loss. I know how much those fella's meant to you both. Although it doesn't seem like it now they are not feeling any more pain and are frolicing together at that Rainbow Bridge as they wait for you to rejoin them.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your 2nd loss -- God bless!
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower, but I can tell what your dogs mean to you. I'm sorry for your loss and I hope all the peace in the world to your family.
ReplyDeleteAs your hearts are breaking my heart breaks for you. To lose a beloved member of the family is hard but to lose two inside of a week is devastating. I send peace your way and will remember fondly all the wonderful stories that you told about Checkers and Max. God Bless the three of you.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry, we understand how you must feel. Look back on the good days, I'm sure there were many.

Ah guys we are so sorry. I know your hearts were breaking before but this, well there just isn't any words.
ReplyDeleteJust know that we are thinking of you and we know what you're going through.
The only thing that maybe helps a very little is knowing that now Max and Checkers are together again.
They were both dearly loved 'kids' and had an excellent life with you and returned your love 1000 times. They will always be in your hearts. I am so glad that they got this last trip down south.
Hugs to the 3 of you.
Ahhhhh, Al and Kelly...so, so sorry...our hearts ache for you and what you've been going thru. No matter how many times we've gone thru this, it hurts...we love these little creatures. They bring us such happiness and it is so hard to say goodbye. Just wanted to let you know you both are in our hearts and prayers...we do care!
ReplyDeleteOh my no, that's way too much to take in one week. I feel so sorry for you guys. There are no words that I can think of to tell you how sorry I am. I'm just thankful that it happened when you got home instead of in some remote part of the U.S.
ReplyDeleteIt must be a nearly unbearable loss following so close to Checkers. Max has been walking less and less, and was probably ready to go. They don't try to hang on to life at all costs as humans do, but they will try for our sakes as long as they can. I'm glad you were able to let go, and my thoughts are with you.
ReplyDeleteVery sorry to hear that. Your house must be so sad. Poor little motormouse will be wondering where her buddies are. Hope time will heal your wounds.
ReplyDeleteNoooooooo!!!!!!! I dont know what to say....I am lost for words, because there is none strong enought to tell you how sorry I feel...It is so so very sad...
ReplyDeleteBig hugs
I'm speechless...glad others weren't. Sending hugs just isn't enough...sigh...
ReplyDeleteAl and Kelly, we are so very sad to hear of such loss again...
ReplyDeleteYou've barely had time to heal from losing Checkers... and now Max.
Our hearts go out to both of you.
Hugs, MnM

ReplyDeleteOh, no! Can't believe it is so soon.. My heart goes out to you...
ReplyDeleteThere are no easy words to express how sorry I am to hear about the loss of Max. Even though I only met him for a few hours, I could tell he was a wonderful, friendly and loyal member of your family.
ReplyDeleteAll we can do is provide a loving home for our pets for as long as we are lucky enough to have them and both you and Kelly have certainly done that.
Awwww, Al. :( I'm so very sorry for your loss. Please know that Jed & I will hold you all tightly in our prayers as your struggle to find a new normal in your home.
ReplyDeleteLife isn't fair ... Our Beloved Bayfield Bunch has been hurt enough already !!
ReplyDeleteSo, so, sorry !!
Al, the whole Bayfield Bunch is in our thoughts and prayers today. We are so shocked by Max passing so soon after Checkers. You and Cora will have to hang tight to each other while Kelly is away, and please, hang tight to your friends our here in Blogland.
ReplyDeleteMy heart breaks for you. I am so so sorry and so very sad.
ReplyDeleteMy heart is breaking for you and Kelly. It is so hard loosing one, but two of your pets within a week, I can't imagine the pain you both are going through.
ReplyDeleteMay God lift your sadness from your hearts Al. You and Kelly are in our prayers.
I'm very sorry to hear the news. Do give Cora an extra big hug and hold her tight, I'm sure she's grieving too! I do feel your pain since losing our Carl over a month ago. Keep their pictures handy, it'll put a smile on your face looking at them. Best wishes to you both! ~M
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your loss. I have no words. Just very sad.
ReplyDeleteHugs.
and then there were three... sorry for the sadness you both have had to endure...
ReplyDeleteI knew from your blogs he was slowing down and not as strong as when he was young.
ReplyDeleteI had hoped he would get a new burst of energy now that you were home, and that he would have one more summer with you.
But it was not to be.
Once again I send my condolence for the decision you had to make. It will never be easy.
There may be other dogs in your future, but never these two dear friends.
I too feel your pain Al and Kelly. After losing two son's in the last 3 years,,,,,i seem to just be numb. I sure didn't plan on this, I was supposed to die first. But someone else seems to have a plan that we don't have any control over. I get mad, then I get sad. But all in all I know those two boy's would want me to go on,,,,,,,just as Checkers and max would want you guys to carry on and be happy... So do it for them, that's what I do... In time we all get to go "HOME"...... My heart is with you....
ReplyDeleteAl and Kelly:
ReplyDeleteWe cannot believe what we are reading in the blog... very hard to believe.
Again our thoughts and prayers go out to you all!
Give the Motormouse a big hug from us!
John and Judy
I am so terribly sorry about the loss of dear Max.
ReplyDeleteThose little guys sure can worm their way into our hearts, can't they?
I'm sure another special little dog will find it's way to you guys when the time is right, and that will help to heal the hole in your heart.
Our hearts go out to you Al and Kelly. We can't imagine the pain and heartache you must be feeling losing two of your best friends in one week. Please feel our hugs for you both.
ReplyDeleteAl and Kelly ~~
ReplyDeleteI'm trying hard to picture Max and Checkers 'folicking together at Rainbow Bridge' as JB wrote. My heart goes out to both of you at this very sad time.
Thank you for posting that beautiful photo of Max!
Al and Kelly,
ReplyDeleteI do hope you know how very sorry I am to read this news about Max. Suffering one loss is hard enough, but two must be almost unbearable. Please hang on, and hold Cora close. She must be as confused as you all are feeling. :_(
I am so sorry for your loss. My best wishes for better days to the three of you.
ReplyDeleteWe are sitting here in disbelief! To lose both of your pals in such quick succession is beyond what you should have to bear. We are with you in your sorrow, and hope for better days and times in the future. Hang in there.

So very sorry for your loss. Perhaps they needed each other- my horse Talmir and my black lab Shadow passed within a short time of each other... Now I picture them on grand adventures in the pastures of Heaven where I will one day see them again.
ReplyDeleteKelly and Al, am so sorry to read about your loss.
ReplyDeleteRick

ReplyDeleteWe have followed your blog for the past two years and know that your furry kids are truly part of your family. Our most heartfelt condolences are sent to you and Kelly on your loss of Checkers and Max.
ReplyDeleteI take the loss of a furry best pal hard and because I do, my wife asked me why I'd want another? My reply was "because they're worth it".
Checkers and Max had a great life as part of the "Bayfield Bunch" so please find some comfort in that in this time of sadness.
Harold & Carolyn
Dear Al and Kelly, What I've just read of dear Max is a total shock.

ReplyDeleteThe unbelievable loss of Max now is beyond words. We feel your grief and pain - you are not alone. I know that if all your readers were able to be with you and Kelly, we would all do what we could, but then, the pain is something that only time will heal. We are so deeply sorry for your loss. Words cannot express...... Take care
ReplyDeleteso sorry...
ReplyDeleteI Only Wanted You
They say memories are golden
well maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you,
a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
no one could ever fill.
If tears could build a stairway
and heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven
and bring you back again.
Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.
(a poem from the internet)
Al and Kelly, My heart bleeds for you. I can't imagine going through this twice in such a short period. Love and prayers
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteRemember two things:
These guys had a great life, traveling with you, exploring and having you around them all the time.
The good times you had with them. Their "antics."
Al this is beyond words! Sorry.
ReplyDeleteJohn
These two dogs were family to you. They had a grand life, thanks to you both. Truly sorry for your loss. We know how you feel right now.
ReplyDeleteOh guys, this is more heartbreak than anyone should ever have to go through. Jim and I send our deepest condolences, we are so sorry. May you find peace and comfort as a family in these difficult times.
ReplyDeleteSo much heartache in a week. My heart is breaking with yours. Sending thoughts your way.
ReplyDeleteWhen I read this I just blurted out "Oh! No, Oh! No! Oh! No!" and started crying. I didn't even know Max, but it must be intolerable for you three, so soon after losing Checkers. So hard to take.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you can take some comfort from this new version of Rainbow Bridge: http://www.indigo.org/rainbowbridge_ver2.html
It helped me when I lost my little best friend.
I lost my granddaughter to a drunk driver the same week. So I do have an idea what you are going through. The pain will never go away, but I try to dwell on the good times, and be grateful that I had them, even if it wasn't as long as I had wanted.
My heart goes out to you both, and Cora. Happy Tail to her, and Trails to you. Penny, TX
I couldn't believe it when I read your title. I feel so bad for you both and for Cora. She must be missing her buddies so much. Our dogs are such a part of our families, it will take time to heal from this second tragedy. Take care, and try to enjoy the good things in your lives, and each other, and Cora.
ReplyDeleteI am at a loss of what to say to you Al, Kelly and little Cora -- please know that our thoughts are with all of you at this sorrowful time. Sincerely,
ReplyDeleteMartha
Al, losing one of your beloved pets is hard enough, 2 in two weeks is more pain than anyone should have to bear.
ReplyDeleteMy deepest condolences to you and Kelly.
I'm truly at a loss for words.
Connie
Aw, I cried when I read about your loss of Max. Poor you, poor Motormouse Cora.
ReplyDeleteThe Bayfield Bunch has taken a hard crunch.
I am so very sorry. I picked up my puppy dog and held him tightly while he squirmed around licking away my tears.
I feel for you.
