TODAY WE LOST ANOTHER BELOVED MEMBER OF THE BAYFIELD BUNCH

DSC_0002

Our dearly beloved number one boy Max died peacefully this morning at 11:25.  He quietly slipped away in our arms at the same Veterinary Clinic in Zurich Ontario where Checkers passed on just one week ago to the day.

Our love & attention is now solely focused on our dear little Cora who many know as,  Motormouse.

Once we were five & now we are three.......

  1. Al and Kelly, I can't believe what I am reading. I am so, so, sorry for your loss, especially coming so quickly after Checkers. Al, I'm sure this will hit you particularly hard since Kelly will be leaving to help her mother. So glad you have Cora to help while you are grieving. My heart goes out to you, friends.

  7. Al, my heart breaks for you and Kelly. Losing one pet is unbelievably difficult. I can't imagine the pain of losing two. If any words can provide comfort, from reading your blog the past few months, I know that both Max and Checkers were loved dearly and enjoyed their adventures to the Southwest.

  10. As your hearts are breaking my heart breaks for you. To lose a beloved member of the family is hard but to lose two inside of a week is devastating. I send peace your way and will remember fondly all the wonderful stories that you told about Checkers and Max. God Bless the three of you.

  12. Ah guys we are so sorry. I know your hearts were breaking before but this, well there just isn't any words.
Just know that we are thinking of you and we know what you're going through.
The only thing that maybe helps a very little is knowing that now Max and Checkers are together again.
They were both dearly loved 'kids' and had an excellent life with you and returned your love 1000 times. They will always be in your hearts. I am so glad that they got this last trip down south.
Hugs to the 3 of you.

  14. Oh my no, that's way too much to take in one week. I feel so sorry for you guys. There are no words that I can think of to tell you how sorry I am. I'm just thankful that it happened when you got home instead of in some remote part of the U.S.

  15. It must be a nearly unbearable loss following so close to Checkers. Max has been walking less and less, and was probably ready to go. They don't try to hang on to life at all costs as humans do, but they will try for our sakes as long as they can. I'm glad you were able to let go, and my thoughts are with you.

  16. Very sorry to hear that. Your house must be so sad. Poor little motormouse will be wondering where her buddies are. Hope time will heal your wounds.

  23. There are no easy words to express how sorry I am to hear about the loss of Max. Even though I only met him for a few hours, I could tell he was a wonderful, friendly and loyal member of your family.

All we can do is provide a loving home for our pets for as long as we are lucky enough to have them and both you and Kelly have certainly done that.

  24. Awwww, Al. :( I'm so very sorry for your loss. Please know that Jed & I will hold you all tightly in our prayers as your struggle to find a new normal in your home.

  32. I knew from your blogs he was slowing down and not as strong as when he was young.

I had hoped he would get a new burst of energy now that you were home, and that he would have one more summer with you.

But it was not to be.

Once again I send my condolence for the decision you had to make. It will never be easy.

There may be other dogs in your future, but never these two dear friends.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I too feel your pain Al and Kelly. After losing two son's in the last 3 years,,,,,i seem to just be numb. I sure didn't plan on this, I was supposed to die first. But someone else seems to have a plan that we don't have any control over. I get mad, then I get sad. But all in all I know those two boy's would want me to go on,,,,,,,just as Checkers and max would want you guys to carry on and be happy... So do it for them, that's what I do... In time we all get to go "HOME"...... My heart is with you....

  34. Al and Kelly:

Again our thoughts and prayers go out to you all!

Give the Motormouse a big hug from us!

Those little guys sure can worm their way into our hearts, can't they?

I'm sure another special little dog will find it's way to you guys when the time is right, and that will help to heal the hole in your heart.

  54. We have followed your blog for the past two years and know that your furry kids are truly part of your family. Our most heartfelt condolences are sent to you and Kelly on your loss of Checkers and Max.
I take the loss of a furry best pal hard and because I do, my wife asked me why I'd want another? My reply was "because they're worth it".
Checkers and Max had a great life as part of the "Bayfield Bunch" so please find some comfort in that in this time of sadness.

    I Only Wanted You

    They say memories are golden

    well maybe that is true.

    I never wanted memories,

    I only wanted you.

A million times I needed you,

    a million times I cried.

If love alone could have saved you

    you never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,

In death I love you still.

In my heart you hold a place

    no one could ever fill.

If tears could build a stairway

    and heartache make a lane,

I'd walk the path to heaven

    and bring you back again.

    Our family chain is broken,

    and nothing seems the same.

But as God calls us one by one,

    the chain will link again.

  61. So sorry for your loss.

    Remember two things:

These guys had a great life, traveling with you, exploring and having you around them all the time.

The good times you had with them. Their "antics."

    ReplyDelete
  62. When I'm this late it has all been said by those before me. However, I will add that it was good that you rushed home from the southwest. My condolences.

  67. When I read this I just blurted out "Oh! No, Oh! No! Oh! No!" and started crying. I didn't even know Max, but it must be intolerable for you three, so soon after losing Checkers. So hard to take.

I hope that you can take some comfort from this new version of Rainbow Bridge: http://www.indigo.org/rainbowbridge_ver2.html

It helped me when I lost my little best friend.
I lost my granddaughter to a drunk driver the same week. So I do have an idea what you are going through. The pain will never go away, but I try to dwell on the good times, and be grateful that I had them, even if it wasn't as long as I had wanted.

My heart goes out to you both, and Cora. Happy Tail to her, and Trails to you. Penny, TX

    I feel for you.
