TWO TRIPS TO THE SILVERADO RANCH TODAY

DSC_5221

CAN YOU SEE THE KNEELING OLYMPIC RUNNER WITH BATON IN LEFT HAND

I didn't have any photos for the blog today until I remembered something I had taken a picture of yesterday morning so checked the camera & yes, there were the pics.  I have been watering trees & shrubs this past week by trickling water out of hoses.  Normally I shut the water off every night because of the dipping temps but it was cloudy two nights ago so knew it wouldn't be too bad.  Left the water on & in the morning at the base of a pine tree was this ice sculptor.  If you have a good imagination you will see an Olympic runner resting in a kneeling position with his head down.  You are looking straight on at the top of his head.

Belle's re-start with the previous horse person didn't end up working again so this morning found me on the road heading over to Belle's to feed & water the horses.  I don't mind but we do have to find a permanent solution to this ongoing 'help' problem at the ranch.  It is so difficult to find just the right kind of person/persons for this unique position.   People willing to give from the heart & not get from the wallet.

THE TINY KNEELING ICE MAN IN PERSPECTIVE

I knew the animals were out of alf-alfa & that a trailer load was on the way but didn't know what time it was arriving.  Nothing there yet when I arrived so I set about making sure all the critters had lots of water.  Another lady was coming in the afternoon to feed the gang.  I fed the dogs & all the birds & then went in for a chat with Belle.  Fixed up a few minor email program problems for her & then headed back home.  Rest of the day was spent relaxing.  Ron from New Mexico rolled in shortly after 4 P.M. & within minutes Ron followed me over to Belles 20 minutes away.  Ron is interested in relocating to Belles from Truth or Consequences  New Mexico where he has been volunteering at the DESERT HAVEN ANIMAL REFUGE  for the past 3 years.  Ron said it's time to move on & do something new.

Took Ron for a walk around the ranch pointing out different things & giving him an idea of where things were & what needed attention.  We then went in to meet Belle & chatted for awhile before it was time for me to head back to the rig.  Ron brought a sleeping bag, heater, (& I hope something to eat) & decided to bunk out in one of the ranch's small cabins.  It was dark before I left so told Ron I would be back in the morning & we would feed the critters together & that would give him an idea of the ranch's chores.  He's heading back to New Mexico tomorrow so we'll see how thing go from there.

Totally tired right now so that's about it for me to-night.............

BELLE & RON CHATTING IN THE KITCHEN

GROANER'S CORNER:((

A 4 engine propeller driven C-130 Hercules was
lumbering along when a cocky F-16 fast flying fighter jet flashed by.
The jet  jockey decided to show off.

The fighter jock told the C-130 pilot, 'watch this!' and promptly
went into a barrel roll followed by a steep climb. He then
finished with a sonic boom as he broke the sound barrier. The F-16
pilot asked the C-130 pilot what he thought of that?

The C-130 pilot said, 'That was impressive, but watch this!'
The C-130 droned along for about 5 minutes and then the C-130
pilot came back on and said: 'What did you think of
that?'  Puzzled, the F-16 pilot asked, 'What the heck did
you do?'  The C-130 pilot chuckled. 'I stood up, stretched
my legs, walked to the back, took a bathroom break, then
got a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll…….so there!!'

  1. Hope things work out at Belle's for Ron - that would be a great solution to everyone's problems.

  2. We'll keep our fingers crossed that this situation with Ron works out in Belle's favor and she gets the help she needs. You are, indeed, a good friend.

  3. You can even see the muscular structure of ice man. I'm impressed!

It sort of makes you wonder if there is going to be anyone who can take the time and devote the attention to Belle's ranch. There almost needs to be two such people who can rotate, because animals and other chores around a farm need to be taken care of 7 days a week, and most people would get burned out without a break once in a while. Hopefuly Ron can fill the immediate void.

  4. There's that imaginative photographer's eye that you have in abundance, Al. We are impressed that you found this little ice man, saw its potential, then showed the rest of us. Makes us all want to loosen up our habit-bound eyss and imaginations. There are wonders all around us! All we have to do is remember how everything is new to a little child, then become childlike again.
