A FEW DUMP TRUCK LOADS OF BIRDSEED MAYBE!!

MORNING DOVE.....AND YES, I KNOW I'M PRETTY

Spent a few relaxing hours to-day learning more about my front yard bird pals. Yesterday I was convinced the notorious Grackle Gang had driven all the other birds away but this morning it looked like a big bird convention in the front yard again with birds flying around every which a way. Even a few new ones that I have been looking for in my bird ID books. The feeders went strangely silent after lunch & it wasn't until I saw the neighbor's cat lurking about that I understood why. OH OH.....LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER CRITTER IS WASHING UP BEFORE THE BIRDSEED BUFFET DINNER TO-NIGHT

Figured there is no way to solve the messy eating Grackle problem so I will just have to buckle down & get myself a full time 80 hour a week job that pays enough to spend all the paychecks on birdseed. Our RVing friend Gerald lives just around the corner from us & drives a walloping big gravel truck for the summer months so figured maybe if I bought in bulk I could get Gerald to drop me off a couple of big dump truck loads of birdseed every couple weeks. I think the Grackle Gang has me in the palm of their feathered feet:(( AWW COME ON DAD TAKE US FOR A RIDE IN THE VAN

Kelly headed off to Cambridge early this morning to pick up her daughter & two grandkids & then head over to Spencerport, New York. I left shortly after for my eye appointment with the Optometrist in Clinton. Seems I have the start of cataracts in both eyes but not to the point where I need anything done yet. Said to come back in a year & he would see how the cataracts were coming along. My eyeglass prescription had changed a bit but not worth spending over $600 for a set of new glasses!!!! I have trouble reading small magazine print & smaller print in blogs but that's just the way it will have to be for another year until we see which way we're going with that cataract thing. I HAVEN'T GOT A POSITIVE ID ON THIS FELLOW YET
THIS REDWING BLACKBIRD SEEMS TO HAVE SOME KIND OF GROWTH ON IT'S BREAST UNLESS THAT'S A CROP OF SEEDS IT'S CARRYING

Have been noticing subtle changes in the flower gardens as the approaching season change begins to set in. Once lush lime colored ferns are taking on a hard edge look as fronds darken & decay around the edges. Our round canopy Basswood tree is beginning to shed a few large leaves & the day lilies are finished for another year. Some flowering shrubs are growing tired & sagging under the weight of old summer growth & leaves on our Virginia Creeper vine & Sumac trees are showing early stages of fall color. We are approaching my all time favorite season of the year............Autumn:)) HAVEN'T BEEN USING MY UTILITY TRAILER MUCH THIS SUMMER
ANOTHER SIGN OF THE AGING PROCESS........EVERYTIME I SIT DOWN ON THE TRAIL FOR A REST THE BUZZARD'S BEGIN GATHERING!!

GROANER'S CORNER:(( Just came across this exercise suggested for seniors to build muscle strength in the arms and shoulders. It seems easy, so I'm passing it on. The article suggested doing it three days a week. Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5 lb. potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides, then hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, then relax. Each day, you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10 lb. potato sacks. Then 50 lb. potato sacks and, eventually, try to get to where you can lift a 100 lb. potato sack in each and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute.
After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each of the sacks; but be careful. OUR PHOTO ALBUMS http://picasaweb.google.com/stargeezerguy/

  1. I just wrote my blog for tomorrow saying that after a few dreary days, summer has returned! And then, I see you are the first to mention the word Autumn this year!! In early August, yet!! Nice pics, though, you've got a good perch there for snapping those shots, I bet.

  2. Hey you might think about using the trailer for the next garden site. Appears you could have a good crop in there...

  3. You might send some of that autumn down here - we're still in Monsoon season - HOT. Reported 30% chance of rain today, 40% tomorrow and Friday. Still hot, but wet too!

We've learned recently not to count on the rain, though. If there are overcast mornings, as there often are, we can't build up good thunderstorms, so the rain doesn't come. Gotta have clear mornings.
