I'M GUESSING OF COURSE THAT THESE MIGHT BE YOUNG FEMALE ROSE BREASTED GROSBEAKS OF WHICH WE HAVE FOUR IN OUR FRONT YARD |
Many times over the years in my posts I have talked about looking forward to the middle of August when I felt a subtle change in the air to indicate that slight beginning of change between seasons. One of those changes actually began a couple weeks ago and that has been the coming of cooler nights. However, I have not yet felt the magic in the air. Thc Crickets have not yet begun to chirp, foliage has not yet taken on that ragged edge end of summer look, and there are still mosquitos and flying bugs about. But any day soon now I will no doubt feel that welcome stillness in the air as a prelude to choirs of Crickets as they gather together in farmer's fields and along country roadsides to herald in the coming of my favorite time of year.......Autumn.
In our RVing years it was about this time in August when the first inklings of Winter's travel thoughts began to stir and I always so much looked forward to that. How nice that shifting of thoughts to future travel adventures. And adventures they were too as thoughts of known and unknown destinations lay ahead. Our travels from home here in Ontario to the Great American Southwest were for us like traveling to a different Planet where so many things were unlike here in Ontario. And it was that very significant change that I found so appealing. Totally different scenery was always a biggy for me as well as the almost complete change in lifestyle of living on the road. Yes, we were always glad to get home in the Spring but it was this time of year I loved best when my thoughts began looking forward to that much anticipated change of boondocking lifestyle. Oh how nice it was being away from our freezing cold winters for at least four to six months each year.
Rain began Tuesday evening, kept up through the night, and stayed with us all day. Aside from a drive into Bayfield and back this morning, Pheebs and I didn't get too far today. We did see Libby sitting at the Bayfield Garage awaiting her 'not starting' diagnosis.

Al's Music Box:)) Blowin' In The Wind by Peter, Paul, and Mary from the album 'In The Wind'. 1963GROANER'S CORNER:(( A farmer purchases an old, run-down, abandoned farm with plans to turn it into a thriving enterprise. The fields are grown over with weeds, the farmhouse is falling apart, and the fences are collapsing all around. During his first day of work, the town preacher stops by to bless the man's work, saying, "May you and God work together to make this the farm of your dreams!" A few months later, the preacher stops by again to call on the farmer. Lo and behold, it's like a completely different place--the farm house is completely rebuilt and in excellent condition, there are plenty of cattle and other livestock happily munching on feed in well-fenced pens, and the fields are filled with crops planted in neat rows. "Amazing!" the preacher says. "Look what God and you have accomplished together!" "Yes, reverend," says the farmer, "but remember what the farm was like when God was working it alone!"--------------------------------------
