A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE BAYFIELD BUNCH:))

IT WAS KIND OF AN APPLE BLOSSOM DAY

IT'S APPLE BLOSSOM TIME HERE IN OUR NECK OF THE WOODS
No need for a warm T-shirt this morning underneath my long sleeve shirt.  In fact no need for a long sleeve shirt either so finally, finally, finally, I was into a short sleeve summer shirt right from the get-go.  How nice to be free of long sleeve shirts, T-shirts, and winter coats or heavy jackets.  And I finally put my last pair of winter mitts away.  I have one word for not having to wear all that winter wear...'Freedom'!!  And, how nice to drive again unencumbered by bulky winter clothing.

OUR GOOD NEIGHBOR MONICA'S MAGNOLIA TREE IS IN BLOOM
Two walks for Pheebs and I this morning.  Our usual gravel road and another grassy walk at the Linwood Conservation area southeast of Bayfield.  I knew the apple blossoms would be in bloom there.

ON ONE OF OUR FAVORITE COUNTRY ROADS HEADING FOR THE APPLE BLOSSOM SPOT
YEP, LOOKS LIKE APPLE BLOSSOMS ALRIGHT
OUR FAVORITE SPOT AT THE LINWOOD CONSERVATION AREA...WE HAVE PROBABLY STOPPED HERE MORE THAN ANY OTHER ONE PLACE OVER THE YEARS
THIS FARMER'S LANE HEADING WEST LEADS TO A HARDWOOD FOREST
A WHOLE HOST OF GOLDEN DANDELIONS
TENT CATERPILLARS ARE ALREADY SETTING UP THEIR BASE OF OPERATIONS IN THE APPLE TREES
OUR HARDWOOD FORESTS ARE REALLY FILLING IN NICELY
THE SAME FARMER'S LANE AT THE CONSERVATION AREA HEADING EAST GOES TO THE FARM
Heading home through Bayfield I checked the harbor to see if there were any boats in the water yet.  There were, and it looks like the temporary Bailey Bridge has been totally dismantled.  They will now begin constructing the pedestrian walkway across the river.  That walkway will be the finishing touch to Bayfield's new highway 21 bridge crossing the Bayfield River.

THERE ARE ALREADY SOME BOATS ON THE  WATER IN BAYFIELD
GETTING THINGS SHIPSHAPE FOR THE COMING SEASON
FISHERMEN BACK ON BAYFIELD'S SOUTH PIER
THE BAILEY BRIDGE IS TOTALLY GONE
NEXT BIT OF BUSINESS WITH BE THE INSTALLATION OF THE WALKWAY ALONG THE SIDE THERE
THAT PILE OF TWISTED GREY RE-BAR IS ABOUT ALL THAT'S LEFT OF THE BAILEY BRIDGE
 HEADING HOME
Home again I wasn't long in getting myself on the end of our battery-operated lawnmower before the heat and humidity chased me inside.  It's not that we have a lot of grass to cut yet but I trimmed up a bit by the road and along the west side of a neighbor's house.  With rain not expected until maybe Monday, I watered my new grass seed as well.

A BALTIMORE ORIOLE CHECKS OUT A FEW SLICES OF AN ORANGE KELLY HUNG THERE
 RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD
HAD I BEEN A FEW SECONDS QUICKER WITH THE CAMERA I WOULD HAVE CAPTURED A BLUE JAY BETWEEN THE CHIPMUNK AND THE RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD
A MOURNING DOVE SITS QUIETLY BESIDE OUR FROG POND
I HOPE IT DOESN'T DALLY TOO LONG BECAUSE THERE ARE CATS IN THE AREA
YOU CAN TELL IT WAS HOT AND HUMID THIS AFTERNOON BV THE WAY THIS BLUE JAY HAS ITSELF FLARED OUT TO STAY COOL
Just a little something to clear up on my Wednesday post in case anyone may have confused Ellen and Ella.  Ellen is the bass guitar player who lives in Las Vegas, Nevada and Ella is Kelly's granddaughter who lives in Kitchener, Ontario.  Very easy to confuse the two because they look similar and are close to the same age.

OUR MARSH MARIGOLDS ARE IN BLOOM
AND THIS IS ONE OF THE LITTLE SQUEAKERS THAT SNEAKS IN THE DOOR AND GOES FLYING ACROSS OUR LIVING ROOM FLOOR
OUR LONE FROG POND FROG SITS IN THIS SAME SUNNY SPOT EACH DAY
We're still a bit reluctant to turn our A/C on so I had to throw myself into the shower this afternoon to get cooled off.  I think we topped 80F today.  I'm looking forward to a few cooler days next week.  Not cold, just a little cooler:))

HOW GREAT TO WEAR A SHORT-SLEEVE SHIRT AGAIN AND YES, NEXT TIME I TAKE ONE OF THESE SELFIE THINGS I WILL TRY AND REMEMBER TO KEEP MY EYES OPEN
I'm about three-quarters of the way through yet another exciting aviation book at the moment and this one, like all the other aviator books I have read is a real page-turner.  Ferry Pilot: Nine Lives Over The North Atlantic by Kerry McCauley is a non-fiction tale of adventure and courage as he flies single and twin-engine aircraft to many locations in the world including Africa.  And, in 30 years of flying, he's not shy about telling readers of the many mistakes he has made along the way.  He is also a professional skydiver and writes about that as well.  I love reading these true tales of wild and daring young aviators and the things they do in their crazy flying machines:))

GROANER'S CORNER:((  Two guys are walking down the street when a mugger approaches them and demands their money.  They both grudgingly pull out their wallets and begin taking out their cash.  Just then, the one man turns to the other and hands him a bill.  "Here’s that $20 I owe you," he says.

The IRS is out of control...Now that I'm older, they've even taxed my memory!

The banker fell overboard from a friend's sailboat.  The friend grabbed a life preserver, held it up, not knowing if the banker could swim, and shouted, “Can you float alone?”  “Obviously,” the banker replied, “but this is a heck of a time to talk business.”

I THINK THIS SUMS UP KELLY AND I PERFECTLY

  2. Loved this post as it warmed both my soul and my body. I sit here in Kelowna wearing fleece slippers and top as well as long pants. Still cool here we woke up to snow half way down the mountains surrounding us.
