AND 'BOY-OH-BOY' WAS IT EVER STUCK!!

By 6 a.m. this morning it was already 65F so I knew we were in for a hot and humid day.  Tried to think of something different to do or go but my mind came up empty so it was our old Bayfield/Varna route we soon found ourselves on again.  Luckily there was a slight breeze and I didn't think it was as humidly hot as Thursday morning.
THIS DRY WEATHER HAS BEEN GREAT FOR FARMERS CUTTING AND BALING HAY
Managed ourselves a walk on the dead-end road near Kerr's Campground resulting in one Deer Fly bite and two Mosquito bites.  Not bad considering the time of year, the heat, humidity, and our close proximity to a swampy area.
THIS DEAD END ROAD IS ALWAYS GOOD FOR A WALK
DAISIES ALONG THE WAY
LOOKS LIKE WHEAT TO ME
EVEN A NICE FOREST ALONGSIDE THE ROAD
Home again about 10:30 I was able to transplant a couple Day Lilies and remove a bothersome branch from our Sunburst Locust tree.  Also did some watering before the heat finally chased me into the house.  This current heatwave is predicted to last a few more days before temps drop and return to more seasonable levels for this time of year.  Looking forward to that.

MAMA GRACKLE ON LEFT FEEDS JUNIOR GRACKLE ON RIGHT
Despite this afternoon's heat Pheebs and I did take a walk back along one of the new roads figuring on crossing the little creek and coming back along one of the other new roads.  Well, it was not to be.  At the spot where Pheebs and I have been crossing lately was a great big orange machine stuck fast in the creek.  And boy oh boy was it ever stuck!!
I FIRST SAW THIS MACHINE BEING OFFLOADED FROM A FLAT BED TRUCK THIS MORNING
NEXT TIME I SAW THE MACHINE IT WAS TOTALLY STUCK IN THE CREEK
AND BOY OH BOY IS IT EVER STUCK
IMAGINE MY SURPRISE A FEW HOURS LATER WHEN I TOOK KELLY DOWN TO SHOW HER THE STUCK MACHINE.....AND IT WAS GONE
THE MACHINE WAS ALREADY PULLED OUT AND THAT'S IT IN THE BACKGROUND
WELL IT SURE DOESN'T LOOK ANY WORSE FOR WARE AFTER IT'S ORDEAL
I THINK THAT D7 BULLDOZER WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN PULLING THE ORANGE MACHINE OUT
YEP, THAT DOZER HAS A LOT OF PULLING POWER

  1. we watch one of those heavy rescue programs on the Discovery channel. One time they showed one of these big diggers stuck like that. They called in it's doppleganger and between the two machines it got out. Whew...I can't imagine. Our tractor got stuck in the boggy spot on our back forty a few years back. What a chore that was. Probably five years later and there are still deep water filled ruts where it was mired.

  2. Oh, Al...you are so funny! 65 degrees! It will be 106 here today and heading up to 112 or higher next week. Of course, ours is a "dry heat"!!! :-)

  3. Never in my long life have I seen hay bales stacked, or not stacked, like that on flat bed trailers. Is that the custom up there? Or is it just a carefree farmer? Or have times changed and hay's being stacked like that everywhere? Inquiring minds want to know. Some of us don't get out much anymore.
