OUT OF CURIOSITY I LOOKED UP THE MEANING OF THE WORD 'HAPPY' TODAY

THIS IS WHAT DANDELIONS LOOK LIKE WHEN THEY GO TO SEED
It was 6:32 a.m. when with my remote I had to switch on the tall standing fan beside my living room recliner.  It was already a humid 60F so I knew we were in for an uncomfortable weather day.  Well at least for me we were.  Looking out our window I could see not a leaf stirring, not the slightest breeze blowing.  Oh horror of horrors, I might be forced to wear shorts in public.
I LOVE CLOUD TEXTURED SKIES AND THIS IS WHAT HE HAD EARLY THIS MORNING
FARMERS WERE AGAIN BUSY TODAY
PLANTED FIELDS ARE SPROUTING
HERE IN SOUTHWESTERN ONTARIO'S FARM COUNTRY IF THE LAND IS TOO HILLY YOU JUST HITCH UP YOUR BIG STEEL ROLLERS AND FLATTEN THOSE HILLS OUT:))
Pheebs and I were out the door early headed for a spot in the country where I knew some Marsh Marigolds to be growing.  Armed with a shovel, bin, and a tarp we made our way over south of Varna and dug us up a nice clump of marshy yellow flowers.  Never even got a soaker in the muddy bog.  Also snagged us a wild Iris along the way.
GONNA GET OURSELVES SOME MARSH MARIGOLDS
BACK HOME WITH THE LOAD
By 9 a.m. it felt to me like we were up to about 150F as we made our way home.  Backed into the driveway and unloaded my diggins.  With a couple rose bushes to plant as well it was important in this heat to get everything planted and well-watered.  I had also dug up some other country plants so had them to get into the ground too.  By the time I was done I was a 204-pound ball of sweaty paste.  Ohhhh is that ever an awfully uncomfortable feeling.  Anyone with oily skin will know what I mean.  Only respite from that was to take myself inside and throw my old bones into the shower.  Which of course I did.  'Swish-Swash' oh what a relief it was.  Figured I must have lost about 11.7 pounds.  Oh I could wish........
PLANTED THE TALL SPIKEY LEAFED IRIS FIRST RIGHT OUT IN OUR FRONT FLOWER BED
NEXT I PLANT THE ROSES
GETTING MYSELF QUITE INVOLVED HERE
'AWWWW NUTS' CAN'T FIND MY HAT AND I THINK IT'S UNDER THE PLANTED ROSE BUSH!!
MARSH MARIGOLDS ARE NOW IN PLACE
My new grass seed was also in need of water so it wasn't long before I was outside again setting up the sprinkler.  Didn't take long and I was quickly back inside basking in our wonderful air conditioning.  Parked my buns right in front of my maxed out fan and thought to myself how maybe life isn't so bad after all some days.  Must be that recently acquired B12 working in my life.  Tuesday I pick up and start something new called Metformin which is supposed to help with my recently diagnosed Type 2 diabetes.  We'll see how it goes.  I am encouraged by my recent increase in physical activities since the weather has turned nice.  I think last Winter's inactivity did me some grievous harm:((
Out of curiosity I looked up the meaning of the word 'happy' today.  Here is what I found...'Happiness is that feeling that comes over you when you know life is good and you can't help but smile. It's the opposite of sadness. Happiness is a sense of well-being, joy, or contentment. When people are successful, or safe, or lucky, they feel happiness'.....Have to say while momentarily perched at an Apex of my roller coaster life these past few days I do clearly understand that.
ONE OF OUR FLOWER BED TULIPS
GROANER'S CORNER:(( The Iranian Ambassador to the UN had just finished giving a speech, and walked out into the lobby where he met President Bush. They shook hands, and as they walked the Iranian said, "You know, I have just one question about what I have seen in America."  President Bush said, "Well, anything I can do to help you, I will." The Iranian whispered, "My son watches this show called 'Star Trek' and in it there is Chekhov, who is Russian, Scotty, who is Scottish, and Sulu, who is Chinese, but no Arabs. My son is very upset and doesn't understand why there aren't any Iranians on Star Trek."  President Bush laughed, leaned toward the Iranian ambassador, and whispered back, "That's because it takes place in the future."

- Where did the pilgrims land when they came to America?  On their feet!
Teacher: Class, we will have only half a day of school this morning.

Class: Hooray!
Teacher: We will have the other half this afternoon!
- Why does history keep repeating itself?
Because we weren't listening the first time!
Q: Do you know why the Roman Coliseum went out of business?
A: The lions were eating up all the prophets.

  1. Al, you just stopped complaining about the weather being too cold! Now you're complaining it's too hot!

    1. Yes, I do that every year but somewhere between those two extremes exist most of my days and I do try to keep myself on a non-complaining even keel. Oh the realities of life.

  2. Al, my doctor started me on metformin last December and it has become literally a life changed and saver for me. It took a couple months to really do it's job but today I feel great, better than the last 2 years when my blood sugar started creeping up. I have more energy, clearer head, better attitude. I love metformin. I hope you will like it, too.

  3. Make a point to read about the side effects of metformin. Extreme tiredness, weakness, decreased appetite, nausea, vomiting, trouble breathing, dizziness, light headedness. The biggest problem for me is the chronic feeling of fatigue, the weakness in my legs and arms and trouble breathing. When you garden, you might most notice the problems then, at least I do. Also, remember to check out the side effects in combination with other medications you may be taking.
