A COUPLE OF MEDICAL PHONE CALLS THIS PAST WEEK AND OUR GREAT WEATHER CONTINUES

Our third sunny start in three days.  By Golly we're on a roll.  From months of habit I am still dressing too warm in the morning and haven't transitioned myself to warmer weather mode yet.  Maybe tomorrow I'll make a break-though and get rid of my warm T-shirts until sometime next Fall when cooler weather settles in again.
ON OUR WAY TO THE HULLETT MARSH THIS MORNING
AND THIS IS HOW WE ROLL
THIS CANADA GOOSE HAS IT'S OWN MUD PUDDLE
KILLDEER
With a decaf coffee to go from Tim Hortons in Clinton Pheebs and I headed off over to the Hullett-Marsh to see if we could take ourselves for a walk and find a few photos along the way.  We did just that.  All photos in this next two blocks of pictures were taken with my Nikon Coolpix 900. (CP900)
THERE WERE A LOT OF GOOSE FAMILIES ON THE WATER
With morning's air heating up fast I fired up the Jeep's A/C to make sure it was still in good working condition after the Winter.  It was.  I love A/C in hot humid weather as much as I love heat in our cold damp Winters.  Some folks don't like A/C and its a mystery to me what people don't like about it.  What can be so bad about an easily controlled personal warm or cool comfortable atmosphere?
EVEN SAW A COUPLE MUSKRATS
AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS BIRD IS
Pheebs and I were home shortly after 10 and I again spent my time in between tired spells mowing our small lawn, watering grass seed, wheelbarrowing around some dirt, etc.  Even washed our kitchen window.  Things are looking good as Spring makes its way towards Summer.  June is always the nicest month for all our greenery.
A COUPLE BUZZARDS IN AN OLD CORN FIELD
Had two pre-arranged medical phone calls this week.  One each with my Nurse Practioner and Diabetes Nurse.  The results of my blood (and other) tests last week showed a few not so good things but for the most part, were reasonably good.  Despite a number of positive changes to my diet my diabetes is going sideways on me and I will have to start medication for that beginning next week.  Diabetes is hereditary for me with my Dad having it in his later years and his Dad, my Grandfather, having it as well and may have died from it but I'm not sure.  The diabetic nurse today said my blood sugar levels rising are probably contributing to my tiredness, irritability, mood swings, and fatigue, so they are going to try and help me get a handle on that.  I've been very fortunate over the years in hardly ever being sick with anything but this last year or two my age and genetics are finally catching up with me which of course is life's natural progression.  Like an old car I am much closer to the junkyard now than having just come off the shiny new assembly line years ago.  It's just all a routine part of life as they say.  And I agree with that.
A RATHER MARVELOUS LOOKING FRIDAY MORNING
EVEN SAW SOME GOLFERS OUT ON THE BACK NINE AT WOODLANDS GOLF COURSE WEST OF CLINTON
WELL ISN'T THAT QUITE THE MOSSMAGATOR OF A MACHINE
BACK AT OUR PARK A GROUP OF LADIES HAS TAKEN IT UPON THEMSELVES TO CLEAN UP AND RE-PLANT OUR FRONT ENTRANCE FLOWERBEDS
AND THEY ARE DOING A WONDERFUL JOB TOO
GROANER'S CORNER:(( There's a man named Ralph that goes into a bar, looking very depressed. A friend approaches him and asks, "Why the long face, Ralph?""Oh, I'm just bored. I know every person in the entire world now, and there's just nothing left to challenge me."His friend says, "No, you can't know everyone. Do you know Paul McCartney?"He says, "Sure, Paul's an old friend of mine. Here, I'll show you." He goes over to a phone, dials a number. His friend overhears a British accent, "Hey Ralph, how ya doing?"He talks for a while, but when Ralph hangs up, his friend is not really sure that it was Paul McCartney on the other end of the line, so he asks him if he knows the president.Ralph says, "Sure, we go way back." This time he lets him listen in as he calls a private number. It sounds like the president on the other end of the line, and they go into a big discussion of the current economic scene, and Ralph offers a few suggestions. Drawing the conversation to a close, Ralph wishes him well and hangs up.His friend is a little dumbfounded at this point. "Well, there must be someone that you don't know." He goes over a few more people in his mind, and thinks, 'He can't possibly know the Pope. After all, he's a Protestant.'But Ralph claims to know him, so to convince himself otherwise, his friend desides to fly both himself and Ralph to the Vatican to get positive proof of Ralph's conviction. So they arrive at the Vatican, and Ralph suggests that his friend wait out in St. Peter's Square until Ralph has cleared things with the Pope. He's standing in the courtyard, when who walks out onto the balcony of the private residence, arm in arm with the Pope, but Ralph.Ralph looks down, sees that his friend has apparently passed out, and runs down to see what can be done for him. "What happened to you? Couldn't you accept the fact that I really do know the Pope?""No, I'd begun to accept that possibility. But what really took my breath away was some stranger standing next to me who said, "Hey who's that guy standing there next to Ralph?''

  1. I'm not you. But if I were you, I would be spending an hour and a half of every day in a gym doing a hard workout. Physical fitness has been proven to fix both mood swings and diabetes. Of course the gyms are all closed right now, but that wouldn't stop me from doing a home workout program. I know, everybody is an armchair doctor.

    1. I think this armchair doctor should "stay in his own lane".

  2. Michael hates air conditioning—makes him congested, so he says. Makes it hard to stay in a hotel with him or travel in the car in hot weather. We cope. Sorry to hear about the diabetes Al, I won’t offer any advice other than to say your statements about genetics are totally correct.

  3. I think Kevin is spot on. Genetics may have played a part in this but it was lifestyle that was the main culprit.

  4. Looking at that no-till planter all folded up, I could only think it must cost more than a new fighter jet. Thanks for the Killdeer pics, they were awesome.

  6. HI Al, sorry about the news on your health don't give up maybe you can turn it around, my sister is in the same situation she does not take insulin but had to go on a blood sugar lowering medication, it's not an easy disease to control. Your bird up there is a female Red-Winged Blackbird, and a pretty one too!

  7. Al, there are several other things you can try to control your diabetes, such as a keto diet or even a low carb diet. Read about Dr. Eric Westman at Duke University and how he controls his patients diabetes. Or Diet Doctor site. There are thousands of low carb/keto recipes online to help control your diabetes. I was diagnosed with type 2 about 5 years ago and have never taken any meds for it. I control it with diet and exercise. Good luck. Ann M
