CANADIAN CHIT CHAT AROUND A MORNING CAMPFIRE

Our walk this morning took us down to the border jumpers camp.  They were easy to find, we just followed the campfire smoke.  Had been awhile since we saw either Wandering Willy or John Brown.  Last time for WW was on Ogilbe Road near Yuma two winters ago and the last time we saw John was at our Congress house when he and Brenda with their two dogs Max and Maya dropped in.  Brenda's back in Canada at the moment undergoing treatment for a broken ankle.  John swears he had nothing to do with that.  We all sat us around the campfire for a couple of hours catching up on things.  We've been friends with fellow RV'er and former Blogger WW (Bill) since first meeting him in Borrego Springs California years ago and RV Blogger John in Quartzsite Arizona in our early RVing days as well. (John and Brenda's Incredible Adventure) Nice to see Bill and John again and we'll be 'hangin out' a bit with Canada's two gruelling Gringos over the next little while.
THREE DOGGY PALS MEET UP AGAIN AFTER A FEW YEARS....MAX, PHEEBS, AND MAYA ON THE RIGHT
LOTS TO TALK ABOUT AS MAX GIVES HIS HEAD A BIG SHAKE
Our stay in the Wickenburg/Congress area didn't go as originally planned.  We didn't get to see and do some of the things I had mentioned and we didn't get around to see anyone.

OUR OLD HOUSE AND PROPERTY LOOKED GREAT AND HOW NICE TO SEE ALL MY CACTUS PLANTS DOING SO WELL
WE EVEN RECOGNIZED SOME OF OUR OLD FURNITURE ON THE PORCH
HAPPY TO ALSO SEE OUR YARD ORNAMENTS STILL IN PLACE TOO

THROUGH THESE GATES A BLOCK FROM OUR HOUSE  WE HAD SO MANY GREAT MORNING WALKS IN THE DESERT BEYOND
With a very poor internet connection at our last spot we decided to head for a new area maybe returning back Wickenburg way on our way home in March but while there we did get out to House/Indian Rock Monday morning but it was an ordeal.  The Jeep road leading out through the desert was rougher than ever due to rains and washouts over the past couple years and I heard some 'not good noises' in one of the Jeep's wheels while in 4 wheel drive.  Another road leading to 'Aunt Jean's Rock' was so rutted, overgrown and narrowed it caused us to turn around after scratching a whole new set of desert pin striping into the Jeep.  We never made it to Jean's Rock and our drive through the desert was not as much fun as I once had found it.
HOUSE/INDIAN ROCK AHEAD OF JEEP TO THE LEFT
LOOKING TOWARDS HOUSE ROCK AND THE REASON PHEEBS IS SO FOCUSED ON ME IS BECAUSE I HAVE A CHICKEN SANDWICH IN MY HAND
An unexpected bout of depression settled over me early Sunday and continued into Tuesday and never lifted until we cleared the area and headed off to another spot about 75 miles away.

NICE SITE HERE SOUTH OF VULTURE PEAK BUT OUR INTERNET CONNECTION WAS NOT GOOD

VULTURE PEAK IN THE BACKGROUND
A nice relaxing drive heading west from Wickenburg Monday morning went a long way in lifting my spirits.  Had made this same drive a number of times before and it's another one of my favs.
VIEW OUT OUR SIDE DOOR JUST BEFORE DEPARTING THE VULTURE PEAK AREA

It was while setting up at our new site that Kelly noticed something dripping under the rig's front end.  With our very limited mechanical knowledge we diagnosed the problem as a power steering fluid leak.  Nearest repair facility is 26 miles away:(((((
POWER STEERING LEAK SEEMS TO BE AROUND THAT BLUE THING
On the phone first thing this morning Kelly set us up with an appointment at a garage facility nearby to have that Power steering leak looked at sometime within the next couple days.  In the meantime we had us a quiet relaxing afternoon under mainly cloudy skies with a slightly cool breeze warmed by occasional sunny periods.  It was a nice afternoon walk Pheebs and I had.  These temperatures are perfect for us with it not being too hot and not being too cold.
THIS IS REAL NICE WALKING COUNTRY
STILL KEEPING AN EYE ON THOSE GUYS DOWN THERE IN GRINGO GULCH:))
RECENT RAINS HAVE ENCOURAGED GREEN GROWTH
THERE ARE A FEW SAGUAROS AROUND BUT THEY ARE NOT IN ABUNDANCE LIKE THE LAST TWO AREAS WE WERE IN
THAT IS ONE TOUGH LITTLE BARREL CACTUS AND THE ONLY ONE I SAW
OUR MOTORHOME IS JUST OVER THAT RIDGE AND WHEN I TOLD PHEEBS TO 'GO FIND MOM' SHE TOOK OFF LIKE A BULLET
THAT BLACK DOT WAY OUT THERE IS PHEEBS DOING ABOUT 352 MPH HEADING FOR THE RIG

GROANER'S CORNER:((  Billy-Bob walks into a bar and says, "Bartender, one round for everyone, on me!" The bartender says, "Well, seems you're in a really good mood tonight." Billy-Bob says, "Oh, you can bet on it! I just got hired by the city to go around and remove all the money from parking meters. I start on Monday!" The bartender congratulates him and proceeds to pour the round.  Monday evening arrives. Billy-Bob comes back into the bar and says, "Bartender, two rounds for everyone, on me!" The bartender says, "Well now! If you're so happy just over having this new job, I can just imagine how happy you'll be when you get your paycheck!" Billy-Bob looks at the bartender with a wondrous look on his face, pulls out a couple big handfuls of quarters from his pocket, and says, "You mean they'll PAY me too?"

- If the black box flight recorder is never damaged during a plane crash, why isn't the whole airplane made out of the same stuff?
Why is there an expiration date on sour cream?
- If most car accidents occur within five miles of home, why doesn't everyone just move 10 miles away?
- If man evolved from monkeys and apes, why do we still have monkeys and apes?

  1. Glad you have an appointment to get that looked at.
Gringo Gulch looks like a nice spot! I'm sure the company is wonderful and I'll bet there is a bit of a chin wagging happening over the next while.
Depression could have been a result of not being able to go INTO the Congress house, knowing it was no longer yours. You seemed very happy there puttering around in the yard doing things. Now you're on the outside looking in kind of idea. It's nice that they've kept it so well maintained.
Enjoy your time with WW and John.

  2. Al, If that's what's leaking and not something above it that's a steering damper or a shock sorta like the ones on the tires. Not a big deal to replace and shouldn't cost much. I've had to replace the one on my old van a couple times.

  3. I think maybe all the changes-----wonder if ANY are what you would consider "good" changes?---would certainly dampen your spirits. Sort of what happens to me when I see yet ANOTHER piece of land get covered by concrete to make more highways, more businesses, more parking lots. There doesn't seem to be much we can do about it, except enjoy and really appreciate Nature's wonders that we still have. I appreciate your blog and share your love of those wonders.

  4. The desert is so relaxing, especially this time of year. Wish I were there, too.

  5. Nice blog Al. Somebody once told me that no matter how down you get, someone else somewhere is worse. Your blogs always seem to be full-spirited and uplifting. So, remember, keep blogging, because you just never know who YOU may lift up after reading/seeing one of your enjoyable journeys. :-)

  6. So nice to see WW and John Brown again. The Congress house looks wonderful and still is such great shape, memories for us there as well with the 3 days spent with you guys and the numerous desert rides to Indian /House rock.
Good luck with you power steering repair.
