BACK TO AJO AND A DRIVE THROUGH COYOTE HOWLS

With our Motorhome facing east I can quite comfortably from my recliner each morning watch the growing light in the east through our large windshield.  Sometimes that light turns into a fiery sunrise and sometimes it just eases itself into the Robin’s egg blueness of day.

Compared to other parts of southern Arizona and California we have got off very lightly when it comes to the recent and ongoing heavy rains.  We’ve been on the very eastern edge of the bad weather and aside from a few patters on our roof Monday night we did not receive the expected rain today.  Some of the folks on our sidebar are really getting swamped.  Especially in Borrego Springs and Quartzsite and with thousands upon thousands of RV’ers crowded into Quartzsite right now I’m guessing some folks could very well be in trouble with flooding from some of the photos I’ve seen.  We’re very lucky to be right where we are at Gunsight Wash near Why Arizona.

Under cloudy skies with a brisk east wind blowing we all piled into the Jeep and headed for Ajo. (pronounced Aho)  Kelly browsed a few Thrift Stores while I took a number of photos here and there.  Recently opened in November we stopped at the Ajo Farmers Market Store And Kitchen where we picked us up a great breakfast burrito to go.  Also a couple great coffees from Curley Coffee at the same location.

Right across the road from coffee and eats place is Artists Alley with a fine collection of murals.  With Ajo being an artsy little place colorful murals can be found throughout the town. 

 

DID YOU NOTICE THE REAL WINDOW

Anyone who has traveled through Ajo will never forget the fine Spanish architecture in the down town core and especially the prominent white churches.  One of our favorite little southwestern towns.

On the way back to our rig south of Why we cruised through Coyote Howls East.  More memories for us here at this RV Park.  Although we have never stayed overnight we used to come and park across the road from it to pick up their Wifi signal back in 2007 and 08.  We were staying at Hickiwan Trails at the time just down the road.  We’ve driven through Coyote Howls a few times over the years and I’m sure when we drove through today they have expanded the Park eastwards.  The nice thing about Coyote Howls is the spacious sites unlike many Parks where RV’s are ram-jammed in so tight .  No water, electric, or sewers at each site but there are several dump stations, water faucets, and shower/washrooms located throughout the Park.  And they were clean.  Laundry facilities, computer room, games, and well stocked library.

Regarding my Monday night post both tonight’s first and last photos were point and shoot pics driving back from Ajo late this morning.

GROANER’S CORNER:(( A pastor goes to the dentist for a set of false teeth.The first Sunday after he gets his teeth, he talks for only eight minutes. The second Sunday, he talks for only 10 minutes. The following Sunday, he talks for two hours and 48 minutes.The congregation has to mob him to get him down from the pulpit, and they ask him what happened.The pastor explains the first Sunday his gums hurt so bad he couldn't talk for more than 8 minutes. The second Sunday his gums hurt too much to talk for more than 10 minutes.But, the third Sunday, by mistake he put his wife's teeth in and just couldn't shut up!!
