Had it not been for a cold rainy drizzle this morning Pheebs & I might have considered a short drive but with no sun & knowing how muddy gravel roads would be it was a no brainer to stay home & work away at getting ourselves organized for the trip ahead a week from Saturday.

Half an hour after writing the previous paragraph this morning old Sol broke through our pine trees lighting up our front yard & with that Pheebs & I were out the door for a short half hour drive on a couple paved roads near our Park.  Just long enough to grab a few photos before the cloud cover closed back in & began dropping some more moisture on us.  We were quickly back home & into the house whereupon the drizzle stopped & the sun came out again.  The rest of the day followed that kind of weather pattern.

WE MADE SURE TO STAY ON PAVED ROADS FOR OUR SHORT DRIVE THIS MORNING

Carried a few more things out to the rig & backed our utility trailer into the carport for the winter.  We're making our way down the check-list getting things ticked off.  And I even got myself a load of laundry done in there somewhere too.

Question in our Shout Box a few days ago asked, Did your barn photos originally start as a request from your old friend Marie J?  I noticed back in early summer the Furry Gnome guy from Seasons in the Valley had an interest in old barns & had a few photos in some of his posts.  I had been thinking of starting an old barns album for quite awhile & after seeing his post I began posting a few barn photos of my own here & there.  My good friend & one time Supervisor from the Town & Country mobility van company I drove part time for a few years ago dropped by the house one day & we got to talking about photos & stuff.  Marie has always enjoyed taking photos of old barns as well & suggested I should do the same.  Well that just kinda verified the whole idea so I began my OLD BARNS photo album in earnest.  Below is a 300mm telephoto shot I took today & that barn on Bayfield River Road is nearly a mile away.

GROANER’S CORNER:(( A young preacher was asked by the local funeral director to hold a grave-side burial service at a small local cemetery for someone with no family or friends. The preacher started early but quickly got himself lost, making several wrong turns. Eventually, a half-hour late, he saw a backhoe and its crew, but the hearse was nowhere in sight, and the workmen were eating lunch.  The diligent young pastor went to the open grave and found the vault lid already in place.  Taking out his book, he read the service. Feeling guilty because of his tardiness, he preached an impassioned and lengthy service, sending the deceased to the great beyond in style.  As he was returning to his car, he overheard one of the workmen say: "I've been putting in septic tanks for twenty years and I ain't never seen anything like that before."
