A WHITENING LANDSCAPE CAN BE A NICE CHANGE

We weren't at all surprised to see the ground white this morning.  Thursday evening's rain turned into a half-inch snowfall overnight.  Just enough to make area roads a tad slippery.  Pheebs and I weren't long in getting ourselves out the door to see if we could find a few photos.

EVEN SCOOTER LOOKED COLD THIS MORNING
CANADA GEESE IN A WINTER WHEATFIELD FUELING  UP FOR THEIR FLIGHT SOUTH SOON
AT LEAST THIS FARMER MANAGED TO HARVEST SOME OF HIS CORN CROP
When moisture drops from the sky in our area it comes down either in the form of rain, sleet, graupel, or snow, and this morning it was graupel we were driving around in.  Graupel is a form of soft hail.  Every time I put Pheebs window down she got graupelized and every time I put my window down to take a picture I got graupelated too.  The strong wind chill factor today drove the 32F temperature down to 19F.

LOOKS LIKE SNOW IN THE AIR BUT IT'S GRAUPEL
EVEN PHEEBS HAS SOME GRAUPEL ON HER
THESE TAMARACK TREES ADD A NICE BIT OF COLOR TO THE DULL NOVEMBER LANDSCAPE
Aside from shoveling a small amount of snow off our front deck, feeding the birds, re-arranging some front yard lights, and looking for some stuff in a shed, it was of course another quiet afternoon.  I would sure be lost if I didn't have my Kindle books to read.

THERE IS SOMETHING SLIGHTLY ODD HERE
WHEN I TOOK THIS LONG TELEPHOTO SHOT I ONLY SAW THE WHITE SHEEP.....BUT LOOK CLOSE
'A-HA', THESE TWO BEST PALS WERE SNUGGLING TO STAY WARM
I took too many photos this morning to fit them all into one post so I will have to stretch them out over the next day or two.  Although I am not a winter person it's always nice to see a change in the scenery even if it is a white landscape.  As I type this tonight we have a snow squall warning in effect.

I CAN SEE A BUILDING OVER THERE IN THE SNOWY WOODS
And mentioning photos I would like to again thank everyone for all your kind words about my photos and writings over the years.  Thank you all for helping me to keep this blog going:))

GROANER'S CORNER:((  This duck walks into a convenience store and asks the clerk, "Do you have any grapes?"  The clerk says no, and the duck leaves. The next day, the duck returns and asks, "Do you have any grapes?" The clerk again says no, and the duck leaves.  The day after that, the duck walks in the store again and asks "Do you have any grapes?" The clerk screams at the duck, "You've come in here the past two days and asked if we had any grapes. I told you no every time that we don't have any grapes!  I swear if you come back in here again, and ask for grapes, I'll nail your webbed feet to the floor!!" The duck left and returned the next day. This time he asked, "Do you have any nails?"  The clerk replied, "No," and the duck said, "Good! Got any grapes?"

IF YOU HAVE THE TIME.....WE HAVE THE MEMORIES:))

THIS JOLLY FAMILY JUST NEEDS SOME SNOW
It was a cloudy and cold rainy November day with Christmas just a month away.  On a drive into Bayfield and back this morning Pheebs and I did notice some paving equipment ready to go at the new Bayfield Bridge.  A dentist appointment for Kelly this afternoon in Exeter Ontario while Pheebs and I stayed home and held down the fort.  Other than all of the above excitement it was a quiet day.  Sometimes I almost just like it that way.

NO SUNBATHERS ON BAYFIELD'S BEACH TODAY
I THINK I MIGHT SEE A SWATCH OF PAVEMENT OVER THERE
A GOOD DAY FOR THE ROOFERS TO HAVE TIME OFF
Over our RVing years, we have spent a number of American Thanksgivings in the United States so I took myself for a trip down memory lane today to have a look at them.  2007: South Rim Of The Grand Canyon Arizona.  2008:  Dog Canyon Hike and the White Sands National Monument New Mexico  2009: Making Faces at the Chickens...Bisbee Arizona and the following day we had A Fine Thanksgiving With A Fine Bunch Of Local Folks in McNeal Arizona.  2010: Cold Outside So We Stayed Inside...(don't let the lazy title fool you) 2011: Desert Sunrise on Darby Well Road near Ajo Arizona. 2012: Hamburgers, Lemon Tarts, And A Surprise Ceramic Rooster at our winter home in Congress Arizona.  2013: In Search Of The Great Stone Eagle Near Warner Springs California...Borrego Springs California.  2014: Kelly Improves Through The Day at our Congress Arizona abode. (keep in mind while reading any of these posts or any of my posts you can always go ahead or back simply by clicking the words 'Older Post' or 'Newer Post' at the bottom of the post) 2015: Blogger's Block And Flying Bird Photos in Congress Arizona.  2016: Nice Day For A Desert Walk With Pheebs Congress Arizona.  2017: Awwww Nuts!! 2016 was our last Thanksgiving in America.  But, if anyone has bothered to read even some of the above posts you can see why we love the great American Southwest so much.  It will always be remembered by Kelly and I as our second home away from home.  If only, if only.................

I FIGURE THIS FARMER NORTHEAST OF BAYFIELD IS RAISING A FLOCK OF ROADRUNNERS AND THAT IS WHY HE HAS SO MANY SPEED LIMIT SIGNS IN THE BARNYARD
GROANER'S CORNER:(( An Irishman is walking along the beach one day, and he sees a bottle laying in the sand. He picks it up and starts to brush it off, and out pops a genie.  The genie says, "Since you have freed me from the bottle, I will grant you three wishes."  The Irishman thinks for a moment and says, "I'm feeling a might thirsty, I think I'll be wishing for a pint of stout."  POOF! There is a pint of stout in his hand. He drinks it down, and starts to throw the bottle, when the genie says, "I'd look at that bottle again before I threw it if I were you." So he looks at the bottle, and it is magicaly filling back up with stout. The genie told him, "That is a magic bottle, and it will always fill back up after you finish it." The genie then asked, "What other two wishes can I grant for you?"  The Irishman looks at the bottle in his hand and says, "I'll be taking two more of these."

YA, WELL GOOD LUCK WITH THAT ONE AL

Thank you to the many readers who responded with all the kind and caring wishes regarding the passing of Kelly's mom.  Very much appreciated not only by Kelly and I but her mom's friends and family as well.

WINTER BIRDS HAVE BEEN BUSY AT OUR FEEDERS AND I SEE WE HAVE THREE PAIRS OF CARDINALS ALREADY
THIS MALE CARDINALCHASES AWAY A DARK-EYED JUNCO
It's a while since Pheebs and I had been over to the Hullett Marsh so on this nice looking 45F semi-sunny morning, we wandered ourselves over that-a-way.  A skiff of snow on the ground in the Clinton area and a thin layer of ice on the mud puddles heading into the Marsh.

I FINALLY FIGURED OUT WHAT THOSE NUBBY THINGS ARE ABOVE THE 'ON-OFF' WORDS...IT'S BRAIL TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR BLIND PEOPLE TO FIND AND OPERATE THE CRUISE CONTROL:))
With the ground dried out enough and still slightly frozen from overnight below freezing temperatures I saw a few farmers out on the land taking advantage of a short break in the recently wet weather.  More rain coming overnight and Thursday.

A SCHOOL BUS SHELTER AT THE END OF A VERY LONG FARM LANE
LOOKS LIKE THIS FARMER HAS BEEN DOING SOME PLOWING
AND THIS FARMER HAD BETTER SET HIS MORNING ALARM CLOCK EARLIER SO HE CAN GET OUT HERE AND HARVEST HIS CORN BEFORE THE SNOW GETS TOO DEEP
INSTEAD OF STORING BALES OF HAY AND STRAW IN A BARN NOWADAYS, SOME FARMERS ARE USING THIS METHOD OF STORAGE

THERE IS NO SNOW IN THE BAYFIELD AREA YET BUT THAT MAY CHANGE IN THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS
GOOD THING SOMEBODY INVENTED THE WHEEL MANY CENTURIES AGO
Finished another book a couple days ago called The Long Road Home by Adrian Vincent.  This is a 'true' account of a young newly recruited British Soldier being taken prisoner by the German army only five days after he landed in France during the second world war.  There is futility, hope, cruelty, compassion, and humor in this book with unsuspected turns along the way.  Friendships between friend and foe are uplifting while hunger and defeat reduce men on both sides to depravity.  And yet at times, they help each other regardless of the uniform they are wearing.  With every book I read I learn something new.  Now, if I could only remember and retain what I have learned it might even do me some good somehow someday.

IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE THEY ARE GETTING READY TO DO SOME ROAD TOP PAVING FOR THE NEW BRIDGE SOON (LOOKING NORTH)
(LOOKING SOUTH)
Oh, and by the way, here is a little something current fellow UFO folks might be interested in....Pentagon Forms a Group to Examine Unexplained Aerial Sightings.  And there was also this in the New York Post on Tuesday....New UFO Task Force Announced By Defense Officials Yes, yes, I know I said I wouldn't be posting anything about UFO's and Extraterrestrials last week but I'm walking that one back.  I'm changing my decision because I think it's important and it's something that needs to be talked about and made aware of.  I will continue to post about the subject but maybe try to keep a tighter lid on my opinions.  Ya, well good luck with that one Al.

A 2018 FILE PHOTO IFROM THE GODERICH HARBOR
GROANER'S CORNER:(( An American businessman goes to Japan on a business trip, but he hates Japanese food, so he asks the concierge at his hotel if there's any place around where he can get American food. The concierge tells him he's in luck, there's a pizza place that just opened, and they deliver. The concierge gives the businessman the phone number, and he goes back to his room and orders a pizza.  Thirty minutes later, the delivery guy shows up to the door with the pizza. The businessman takes the pizza, and starts sneezing uncontrollably. He asks the delivery man, "What the Heck did you put on this pizza?" The delivery man bows deeply and says, "We put on the pizza what you ordered, pepper only."
