NO HEAD SHAKING STUFF IN TONIGHT'S BLOG:))

MOM, DAD, & THE KIDS AT THE BEACH TODAY (Painted Turtles)

First thing this morning the Ophthalmologist office phoned to cancel my appointment for today.  The eye Doctor guy was sick so my appointment was rescheduled for next Thursday at noon.

LITTLE MOTORMOUSE DOESN'T LIKE TO GET HER PAWS WET IN THE EARLY MORNING GRASS

Spent a couple hours over at Deer Park Lodge again this morning trimming shrubs & clearing some brush.  It was the first time I had ever used a gasoline powered weed whacker.  It sure makes my little electric one here at home look like a wimpy bowl of soupy porridge.  Luckily a lawn cutting guy was there & was able to show me how to start the darn thing or I would still be there trying to figure that out.  Had a short mobility van run this afternoon & that was about it for the day.  I have a busy day on Friday with the company mini-van so that should keep me out of trouble for the whole day.  Might be a good idea to take the laptop & get caught up on some emails between stops.

IT'S NOT OFTEN WE MEET ANYONE ON THE TRAIL

I thought KAREN IN THE WOODS had a particularly interesting blog post today on 'Rustic RV Camping.'  Maybe not everybody's cup of RV tea but Karen explains why they enjoy camping with their Class A in rustic RV Parks deep in the wilds of the Wisconsin woods.  She knows that some folks won't understand why they would do that......but I know why:))

SPOTTED THIS GREEN HERON BY THE WATER'S EDGE THIS MORNING

For all you truck & fifth wheel jockeys out there you might want to check out HOMER & LUCILLE'S post on their new Pull-Rite Super Glide hitch and Fifth Wheel Airborne pin box  This sounds like quite a space age hitch they have just had installed in their Dodge 3500 dually.  Comes with a bit of a Space Age price tag too but Mike sounds mighty happy with it's performance.

I am way behind on my email responses again so Wilf, Nellie, Phil, & a few  of you other folks who have emailed in questions, I have your emails rounded up here on my desktop now & will be answering them very shortly.  I enjoy corresponding with people but my biggest problem is remembering to do it so I have to figure out some kind of fool proof system here so that I do not forget people.  I know I have forgotten emails in the past.  I know what is like to send someone an email & not have it answered:((

Janie & John over at FLAMINGO ON A STICK have an interesting post on their transition from house to apartment to RV.  It will be of particular interest for folks in the various stages of 'downsizing' before hitting the road full time.

MAKING THE FISHING LINES DISAPPEAR

DSC_0053

So disappointed first thing this morning to see our two humming bird feeders totally empty with one lying on the ground.  Our Niger seed feeder lay broken on the ground as well & two wooden bird feeders were emptied of their seeds.  And, one of our two suet feeders was missing.  Found it later in some shrubbery, pried open & totally emptied.  It's the work of raiding raccoons in the night & there is nothing we can do to stop them.  Chipmunks & squirrels can eventually be outfoxed but the coons are a different story.  They are too humanlike in their thinking & they have the strength to lift, break, & pry things open.  Very discouraging!!

Turned out to be another in a series of beautiful warm days & I was fortunate enough to have another mobility van run which took me from one sleepy little village, through the picturesque countryside, to several other small villages & back again.  Noticed some of the farmers have taken off their first cutting of hay already & I'm beginning to see fields of corn sprouting.  Shoots are out of the ground about 4 inches.  Agricultural southern Ontario is off to another fine growing season.

WE HAVE POSTED A SENTRY TO WATCH OUT FOR THAT RASCALLY RACCOON TONIGHT

I've been sitting at the computer for awhile tonight & actually headed off in two different blog post directions only to stop & save what I had written for another time.  One post will need photos to go with it & I will have to head out & do some shooting before posting that one.  The other was another lament about being earthbound for the summer but I figured people have heard enough of that out of me for awhile so I stuck that one back up on the shelf for a rainy day.  Maybe if I let it gather a little dust it might take on a bit of character.

NOTICE HOW THE BIRDFEEDERS FISHING LINES SPOIL THE ABOVE PHOTO.

NORTHERN FLICKER....With the Picasa Photo Program's 'Retouch' tool I took the fishing lines out.  I also used the 'Crop' tool to remove a lot of wasted space around the subject.  And, I used 'I'm Feeling Lucky' & 'Auto Color' plus the 'Sharpen' tool. I left the 'Saturation' tool alone in this case.

GREEN HERON.....I caught this little fellow flying about 8 a.m. this morning & the photos are in sequence from take-off at the pond's near shore to landing in a willow shrub on the far side.  I really do think I need to get myself a longer lens soon:))

'PEANUT BUTTER'.....THE EXCITEMENT HIGH FOR THE DAY

DSC_0075

GODERICH HARBOR MAY 2009 (all but one of today's photos are file pics from May 09)

The absolute most exciting thing that happened in my life today was that I snuck into town to buy a jar of peanut butter.  Now, it hardly gets any more exciting than that I'd say!!

BRUCE & MARGIE aren't having themselves quite as an exciting day because they are currently held up in Owensville near St. Louis somewhere with a hydraulic jack on their Motor Home stuck in the down position.  Reminds me of November of 2008 when we were in Oliver Lee State Park near Alamogordo New Mexico with a similar jack problem.  I have a few photos of that situation on OUR BLOG for that day.

OLIVER LEE STATE PARK NEAR ALAMOGORDO, NEW MEXICO...2008

RAY from beautiful downtown Gleeson in southeast Arizona is having a tongue twisting Pyrrhuloxia problem that is only solvable by applying an easy repeatable tongue pacifying Kazoot-kazoot solution.  And, the CAVE PEOPLE living in a town called Sandwich, Illinois actually chose RVing over embroidering back in 2008.  Imagine that!!

AND THEY CALL IT ART!!

Once again JUDY was able to identify my very poor mystery bird photo last night as that of a Green Heron.  Am suspecting we may have had an Oriole at the feeder today so I have the camera beside the computer as I keep a close eye on the daily outside Birdville shenanigans......

ONE OF THE LOCAL FARM BOYS SPREADING A LITTLE AGRICULTURAL HAPPINESS ON THE FIELDS

GROANER'S CORNER:((  The Laws Of Golfing:

LAW 1: No matter how bad your last shot was, the worst is yet to come. This law does not expire on the 18th hole, since it has the supernatural tendency to extend over the course of a tournament, a summer and, eventually, a lifetime.

LAW 2: Your best round of golf will be followed almost immediately by your worst round ever. The probability of the latter increases with the number of people you tell about the former.

LAW 3: Brand new golf balls are water-magnetic. Though this cannot be proven in the lab, it is a known fact that the more expensive the golf ball, the greater its attraction to water.

LAW 4: Golf balls never bounce off of trees back into play. If one does, the tree is breaking a law of the universe and should be cut down.

LAW 5: No matter what causes a golfer to muff a shot, all his playing partners must solemnly chant "You looked up," or invoke the wrath of the universe.

LAW 6: The higher a golfer's handicap, the more qualified he deems himself as an instructor.

LAW 7: Every par-three hole in the world has a secret desire to humiliate golfers. The shorter the hole, the greater its desire.

LAW 8: Topping a 3-iron is the most painful torture known to man.

LAW 9: Palm trees eat golf balls.

LAW 10: Sand is alive. If it isn't, how do you explain the way it works against you?

LAW 11: Golf carts always run out of juice at the farthest point from the clubhouse.

LAW 12: A golfer hitting into your group will always be bigger than anyone in your group. Likewise, a group you accidentally hit into will consist of a football player, a professional wrestler, a convicted murderer and an IRS agent -- or some similar combination.

LAW 13: All 3-woods are demon-possessed.

LAW 14: Golf balls from the same "sleeve" tend to follow one another, particularly out of bounds or into the water (see Law three)

LAW 15: A severe slice is a thing of awesome power and beauty.

LAW 16: "Nice lag" can usually be translated to "lousy putt." Similarly, "tough break" can usually be translated "way to miss an easy one, sucker."

LAW 17: The person you would most hate to lose to will always be the one who beats you.

LAW 18: The last three holes of a round will automatically adjust your score to what it really should be.

LAW 19: Golf should be given up at least twice per month.

LAW 20: All vows taken on a golf course shall be valid only until the sunset of the same day.
