The Governor has declared San Bernardino County/our mountain communities in a State of Emergency and today the President made a Federal declaration for our area which will allow FEMA to assist our area. Wednesday/Thursday our rural lane was plowed using a backhoe and it took 10 hours (around the length of a football field) to move the 109" inches of snow that had accumulated. Biggest problem where to put it all. The expense is shared with four other neighbors. Fortunately my fellow that does the shoveling was able to come yesterday and shovel to very long decks that had 4/5 feet of snow. He wanted to get it off before today's rain. We have lost two three generation grocery stores and now have one grocery store for most of the villages near me. Our roads are all done to one lane and there beams 12/15 feet high. I have not left my house since February 21st and had not seen another human since February 24th until the plow came through on Wednesday night. I am so grateful that all seems well with the house, the electricity only flickered in my area and we had heating, etc. I am blessed. Never thought that Snowmageddon would be a part of my bucket list.Arrowhead Grammahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08706243383701453921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10886995.post-64149382698041913052023-03-10T21:55:44.654-05:002023-03-10T21:55:44.654-05:00What a shame that someone left that beautiful old ...What a shame that someone left that beautiful old wooden table and chair set outside in the snow.
As always I enjoyed your photos a great deal. Winter is beautiful, there is no denying that fact. Stay warm, dry and between the snow banks!!!

DebOn a long and lonesome highway....https://www.blogger.com/profile/13585276461507236822noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10886995.post-53431951011907883942023-03-10T21:11:30.468-05:002023-03-10T21:11:30.468-05:00Well duh. You're probably just more intrepid, and even an experienced person such as yourself had an interesting moment or two in your drive. I can understand how you're weary of it, but truly, surely you admit that's it's beautiful to see. Lovely photos. This is of course all written from where it's beige and gray at this time of year. A few nervy wild plums and redbuds have broken the monotony. And a few persistent low growing things among last year's grass. But mostly blah.JudithKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00624192907254384403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10886995.post-15098276839419312662023-03-10T20:51:35.369-05:002023-03-10T20:51:35.369-05:00Glad to see Santana on your list Al. Some bands were so regional back in those days when the only medium to hear new stuff was AM/FM radio.
