Just when we think we're on an even keel, along comes something else to rock the boat! Nothing infuriates me more than the helpless feeling of being jerked around and not being able to do squat about it. Maybe all of your loyal followers will take up a collection & get you one of those expensive software packages. Your blog is well worth whatever it takes. Meanwhile, I wish the Google people would leave well enough alone. Things that are not "broke" don't need fixing just for the sake of change. That concept seems to be lost nowadays. Anyway, you know how treasured you are in these parts. Please hang in there for us all! Seems as though the google thing is geared to online rather than desktop application. Like you, I'll hold on to my trusty picasa as long as possible, even though I do my first import and editing on Lightroom, I like Picasa for it's ability to view everything easily, tweak something I may have missed, email directly from Picasa, that sort of thing. So I really hope the desktop version remains stable as long as I am around anyway. I also read Rick's post about all this and it helped a bit to clear things up. Lightroom isn't cheap, but soo sooo worth it. I gave up Picasa when i realized that using it gave Google free use of my photos. I may be wrong about that but in any case i went and bought Lightroom, and though i'm still stumbling through it and get frustrated aometimes, it does what I want. I remember my days of thinking that photos are best straight out of the camera; now i'm convinced that every photo benefits from a little editing. I've read Rick's blog. I guess my concern isn't so much what I'll do in the future, (I also have Paint Shop) but what happens to all my folders of things like collages and the like.
