I DON'T ALWAYS MAKE IT TO THE END OF EACH BOOK I READ

WITH MY SWEDE SAW, CLIPPERS, AND LADDER, I AM ALL SET TO GET TO WORK ON SOME TREE BRANCHES
With temps dropping to 54F overnight I figured it would be a good time to get a few more outside things done this morning.  Sometime in the night, an already weakened maple tree branch had partially broken off and pulled other branches down with it onto our neighbor Monica's lawn.  Looking at it this morning I knew it was something I could clean up so as soon as Pheebs and I returned from our walk I hauled out my trusty clippers, swede saw, and ten-foot step ladder.  With a snip-snip here and a saw-saw there it wasn't long before I had the branches down, cut up, and loaded into my utility trailer for their journey to the Park's recycle area.  Luckily, all this was done in the shade and my time spent in the hot blazing sun was minimal.  Even so, when I was finished, the first thing I had to do was head inside and throw my old sack of sweaty bones into the shower.

ALL DONE EXCEPT FOR THE CLEAN-UP
I wonder why so many days feel like Sunday to me now.  It seems no matter what day of the week it is, I think it's Sunday.  Up until not so long ago, I was able to reasonably keep track of the days of the week.  Then, ker-ploof, every day turned into Sunday.  So here I am on Sunday again not knowing it's Tuesday.  Good thing tomorrow is Sunday because my mind needs another quiet day of rest.  That's funny because just yesterday it was Sunday and my mind was already rested.  Oh well, just one of them there many Senior confusement things I guess.

 FINAL DESTINATION
I don't always make it to the end of each book I read.  Some books may start out okay then at some point I get bogged down in the technical aspects of it.  Sometimes I can't get my head wrapped around the concept.  Some material occasionally gets too repetitive or way out for me. And as much as I try to keep an open and inquisitive mind with the subject matter in some of these books, I just reach a point where things are too bizarre even for me, and I have to bail out.  I didn't make it through my latest book, Journey Of Souls by Michael Newton.  I made a gallant effort but with only an hour's reading time left in the book I just couldn't wrap my mind around what I was reading and that was that..... Deciding to get both my feet back on the ground again I took the recommendations of a couple blog readers and have now started reading Being Mortal by Atul Gawande.  Nice to be grounded in some firm but sobering reality again.  Well, that is until I decide to venture off once more into the mysteries of the human mind and its unknown and seemingly fleeting place in the Universe:))

After a long, dry sermon, the minister announced that he wished to meet with the church board after the service. The first man to arrive was a stranger.  You misunderstood my announcement. This is a meeting of the board, said the minister.  I know, said the man.  If there is anyone here more bored than I am, I'd like to meet him.

  1. I long ago gave myself permission to not finish a book. At this point in time life is too short to struggle through a book I don't really like or understand.

  2. I can now tell the day of the week just by looking at my pill dispenser!
