KELLY HAD A GOOD MOTHER'S DAY WITH HER FAMILY

 BLUEJAY ON OUR BIRDBATH
A cold northeast wind put a quick end to any thoughts of a country road walk this morning so Pheebs and I weren't long in heading right back home again. Kelly rolled out for her Cambridge Mother's Day get-together at 9:30.

OH-OH, LOOKS LIKE THIS PAIR OF CARDINALS WERE NOT QUITE ON SPEAKING TERMS THIS MORNING
'WELL, YOU TOLD ME YOU KNEW HOW TO BUILD A NEST RALPH'
'WELL I DO SWEETY, YOU WILL JUST HAVE TO BE PATIENT AND TRUST ME'
'ALRIGHT RALPH I'M SORRY FOR DOUBTING YOUR NEST BUILDING SKILLS'
AHHHH YES, A LITTLE KISS TO MAKE THINGS ALL BETTER,,,, ISN'T LOVE JUST A WONDEROUS THING
Despite temps warming up later under sunny skies I had one of those days where I simply could not get myself into gear.  I had things to do outside but I just didn't feel like doing any of them.  Oh, I did get myself a backyard campfire going late this morning thinking maybe it would help warm up the cold air.  Our overnight temps are predicted to drop to 42F tonight so it looks like yet another cold morning start for us guys.
 MY LATE MORNING BACKYARD CAMPFIRE
NOTHING LIKE A HANDFUL OF DRY PINE NEEDLES TO GET SOME SMOKE SIGNALS GOING ON
And Pheebs and I did make it out for an afternoon walk so the day wasn't a total bust after all.  I sure hope we get some warmer air soon.

SO NICE TO SEE TREES FINALLY TAKING ON THEIR SPRING COLORS
ALTHOUGH SLOW THIS YEAR, FORESTS ARE GRADUALLY BEGINNING TO GREEN UP
I MISS THE QUIET FOREST PATH THAT ONCE RAN ALONG HERE
YOU CAN SEE HERE WHY THIS IS CALLED A 'PAINTED TURTLE'
Kelly rolled in at 5 o'clock saying she had a great Mother's Day and it was so nice to see everyone again.  Four of her five children were there as were some of their spouses.  And she got to see five out of her eight grandchildren.  She said she didn't have any problem driving and felt good all the way there and all the way back.  It's a 164-mile round trip.

L-R KELLY'S YOUNGEST SON BEN, OLDEST DAUGHTER SABRA, KELLY, YOUNGEST DAUGHTER REBECCA, AND OLDEST SON JASON...KELLY'S OTHER DAUGHTER SARAH LIVES IN VANCOUVER
 AND THERE'S LITTLE ELLA

GROANER'S CORNER:(( This guy arrives at the Pearly Gates. He has to wait to be admitted, while St. Pete leafs through his Big Book.  He's checking to see if the guy is worthy of entry or not. Saint Peter goes through the books several times, furrows his brow, and says to the guy, "You know, I can't see that you did lots of good in your life but, you never did anything bad either.  Tell you what, if you can tell me of one REALLY good deed that you did in your life, you're in."  The guy thinks for a moment and says, "Well, there was this one time when I was driving down the highway and I saw a Biker Gang assaulting this poor girl. I slowed down my car to see what was going on, and sure enough, that's what they were doing. There were about 50 of them harassing this young lady.  Infuriated, I got out of my car, grabbed a tire iron from my trunk, and walked straight up to the leader of the gang. He was a huge guy with a studded leather jacket and a chain running from his nose to his ear. As I walked up to the leader, the Gang formed a circle all around me.  So I ripped the leader's chain off his face and smashed him over the head with the tire iron. Then I turned around and yelled to the rest of them, 'Leave this poor, innocent girl alone, you slime! You're all a bunch of sick, deranged animals! Go home before I teach you all a lesson in pain!'"  St. Peter, extremely impressed, says, "Really? Wow, when did all this happen?"  "Ummm.. about five minutes ago."

My wife asked if she could have a little peace and quiet while she cooked dinner.  So I took the battery out of the smoke detector.

  5. Great family pics. So good everyone could get together. Love the bluebird at the birdbath. And so pleased that you understand Cardinalese and can let the rest of us in on it. I mean, some of one can surmise, but it's best to know exactly what is being said. : -)
