AND FOR YOU SANTA CLAUSE FOLKS.....IT'S ONLY 312 LONG DAYS TO CHRISTMAS

Our 43F temperature today is definitely an anomaly in this current freezing cold weather pattern we have been locked into for so long.  Not for residents to worry about though with freezing rain on the way turning into snow tomorrow.  Gee, we certainly wouldn't want to get used to temperatures above freezing now, would we!?!?

I THINK I MIGHT SEE A MAPLE SYRUP SHANTY IN THERE
Needing a few things in Goderich this morning, Pheebs and did our usual route there and back.  Gas, McDonald's coffee to go, a swing down around the harbor and out to the cove, Walmart, and home.  The last couple times I got gas at the Solo gas bar Pheebs wasn't with me and the lady attendant there missed her.  When we rolled in this morning with Pheeb's head sticking out the rear driver's side window I heard the lady shout 'Pheebs' 'Pheebs'.  I don't know who was more excited, Pheebs or the lady.  Pheebs was excited because she knows she always gets a treat there and this morning she may even have got two:))

OH OH, I BOAT IN TROUBLE ON THE ROCKS??
NOPE, IT'S THE TUGBOAT OCEAN A SIMARD MOVING AROUND BREAKING UP ICE IN THE HARBOR MOUTH
THIS IS A POPULAR AREA FOR CANADA GEESE TO HANG OUT FOR THE WINTER
GULLS FLYING OVER GODERICH'S ICE PACKED HARBOR
CANADA GEESE MATE FOR LIFE
The new doggy steps are working great and Pheebs has been going up and down them without any problems.  I'm still using a few weeny treats to encourage her but I'll start tapering them off soon.

I've been doing a lot of reading the past couple of days.  I finished Only When I Step On It which is about a fellow hiking the Appalachian Trail alone.  I liked this book so I left a 'first ever' review....."I thought this was a great book for many reasons. I appreciated this fellow's honesty and humor as well as his persistence, resilience, and dogged determination. His story held my interest from the first page to the last page as I hiked the trail with him. The book is a true inspiration for anyone regardless of what problems they are facing. Good stuff:))"  I followed this book with a short biography about 'Ernest Hemingway'.  What an adventuress skally-wag he was.  I have always been a fan of the 60's rock group, The Doors.  Their biggest hit 'Light My Fire' has and still is one of my all time favorite songs.  The band consisted of Jim Morrison-vocals, Robbie Krieger-guitar, Ray Manzerek-keyboards, and John Densmore-drummer.  When I saw Robbie Krieger had recently written his memoirs in a book called, Set The Night On Fire I wasn't long in downloading it to my Kindle reader.  I thought he did a great job in clearing up a lot of myths and exaggerations about the Doors.  If you are a Doors fan then this is the book to read.

 BAYFIELD
Holly Smokes one of my photos made it into Bayfield's very own newspaper named, The Bayfield Breeze .  Unbeknownst to me, Kelly had submitted it.  It's the one of a pair of Cardinals flaring their wings while landing on our bird feeder.  The photo can be seen at the very end of the Bayfield Breeze's page.

Just think, in only 12 short days we will be standing on March's doorstep.  From there it is only 21 days to the first day of Spring and 13 days until we turn our clocks ahead 1 hour.  Oh, and for you cold weather Santa Clause folks, it's 312 long days to Christmas.  Na-na-na-na na-nannaaa:))

GROANER'S CORNER:(( A journalist assigned to the Jerusalem bureau takes an apartment overlooking the Wailing Wall. Every day when she looks out, she sees an old Jewish man praying vigorously. So, the journalist goes down and introduces herself to the old man.  She asks, "You come every day to the wall. How long have you done that and what are you praying for?" The old man replies, "I have come here to pray every day for 25 years. In the morning I pray for world peace and then for the brotherhood of man. I go home have a cup of tea and I come back and pray for the eradication of illness and disease from the earth."  The journalist is amazed. "How does it make you feel to come here every day for 25 years and pray for these things?" she asks.  The old man looks at her sadly. "Like I'm talking to a wall."

My mother-in-law is coming...I had to clear out half my closet so she could have a place to hang upside down and sleep.

Census Taker: 'How many children do you have?'
Woman: 'Four.'
Census Taker: 'May I have their names, please?'
Woman: 'Eenie, Meenie, Minie and George.'
Census Taker: 'Okay, that's fine. But may I ask why you named your fourth child George?'
Woman: 'Because we didn't want any Moe.'

  2. Fine photos as usual...and what is that brown looking gull in the first one? A land lubber, I don't know gulls. But a treat to see a snow plowing tug. And of course Pheebs. Glad she is making it into the Jeep just fine. And I well understand the Solo attendant being glad to see her - Pheebs, who wins hearts and minds.

    1. That is what is commonly called a seagull. Because of it's brownish color and not being whiter, I think it might be a young gull. They are as much at home on water as they are on land.

  4. Happy for your return tonight Al, along with Miss Pheebs and your marvelous photos. Had over 8 inches of that heavy wet white stuff here yesterday - thought maybe you could come shovel it for me since you have had so much experience. LOL.
