THIS MORNING I STAYED HOME AND IT WASN'T BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER

 MOURNING DOVE
No Jeep ride for Pheebs and I this morning but it wasn't because of the weather.  For the second morning in a row, I could not get Pheebs into the Jeep.  She was excited and wanted to go but couldn't bring herself to either jump up into the Jeep or come up the ramp.  Both Kelly and I repeatedly tried to entice her into the Jeep with treats but it was a no-go.  She wants to get in but she's fearful.  She must have hurt herself the last couple of times getting in although I didn't notice.  So, if we can't figure out a comfortable solution for her it looks like our morning Jeep rides together may have finally come to an end.  Wednesday morning after trying to get her in I finally ended up leaving without her.  Well, that didn't go so swell and I was home fifteen minutes later.  It's just not the same without my best Pal in the passenger seat.  So now it's either I go out in the morning without her or I stay home.  This morning I stayed home.

BY GOLLY HERE SHE COMES NOW BOUNDING THROUGH THE SNOW TODAY

Kelly had some things to mail at the Bayfield post office and because the weather began deteriorating I decided to drive her there in the Jeep.  We again tried to get Pheebs to go but she just couldn't make herself get into the Jeep.  Ramp or no ramp.  So, for the first time in years, Pheebs stayed home alone while Kelly and I slipped into Bayfield and back.

The snow has been steady all day and I was out twice with my snow shovel keeping my paths clear.  And especially to the birdfeeders where the whole gang of flying feathers is wolfing down seeds like there's no tomorrow.

Ever noticed how time seems to be flying by?  I have and other people I've talked to have said the same thing.  Maybe people have always said that.  Or, maybe time has in fact speeded up and really is moving faster.  Consider the following statement I came across recently......'Time is actually speeding up.  For thousands of years, the Schumann Resonance or pulse (heartbeat) of Earth has been 7.83 cycles per second.  The military has used this as a very reliable reference.  However, since 1980 this resonance has been slowly rising.  It is now over 12 cycles per second.  This means there is the equivalent of less than 16 hours per day instead of the old 24 hours.  One of the indications that the frequency and vibration are occurring is the speeding up and shortening of time'...........  Say, ya don't suppose there could be something to all that do ya......????

GROANER'S CORNER:((  A guy goes to a girl's house for the first time, and she shows him into the living room. She excuses herself to go to the kitchen to make them a few drinks, and as he's standing there alone, he notices a cute little vase on the mantel. He picks it up, and as he's looking at it, she walks back in.  He says "What's this?"  She says, "Oh, my father's ashes are in there."  He says, "Jeez...oooh....I..."  She says, "Yeah, he's too lazy to go to the kitchen to get an ashtray."

  1. When our Border Collie was old and having trouble jumping and had trouble with stairs the vet put her on some arthritis medications that relieved the pain. The cold weather certainly doesn't help it.

  2. Is Pheebs too heavy for you to pick up and put her in the Jeep? -Nick

  3. My 11 year old Maggie May was put on Carprofen for arthritic pain. Only been 3 days but she seems to be getting around better. I’ll let you know.

  4. Glad to hear earth time is speeding up to match my perception. Or maybe I'm not...all complicated. Beautiful bird photos, especially the dove. Sorry to hear Pheebs isn't up for the Jeep anymore and you have to go alone. Maybe you can do that. You could take some nice photos of her having a snooze inside....yes? Surely she spends some time in the lovely room where you do.

  5. I am pretty sure it is the 'coming down' that hurts her, that's how it was with Skruffy the last 6 months of her life (remember, she died of diabetes, Pheeps has many more years in her). Could you find a large, very thick foam pillow that she can come down on? Once Skruffy hurt herself jumping off our bed, we had to be sure a ottoman was available for her to jump halfway down on (it is a high bed...she always needed the ottoman to jump up on to get on the bed, but if we moved it, she was stuck)

  6. See if Pheebs will get in on "the other side" or thru the back.? Or, even try Kelly's Pontiac Sunfire.? You wouldn't be able to travel on bumpy, muddy roads - but, at least you could still travel together - and, maybe Kelly could get a new little sporty car out if the deal.

  7. I'm so sorry about Pheebs. I'm thinking arthritis and pain medication to help her. Our Skitz couldn't walk without her gabapentin. We were luck that she was little and we could carry her.

  8. I had a beautiful brindle bouvier who liked to ride in the car with me. She had a tiny stub of a tail that showed how excited she was to go. Then when she got older she didn't want to get in the car. The Vet said that perhaps she would feel car sick. I hadn't thought about that but when she would get out of the car she was starting to just stand there for on the ground for awhile. The vet said she was trying to get her ground legs and tummy from being upset. He wrote a prescription for her and about a week later she went back in the car with me. Thought this may be Pheebs problem.

  9. That is some mind blowing information on the speed of the earth so no wonder "time flies". I feel it too. Hopefully Pheebs can get back on the saddle in due time. Maybe she strained something playing in the snow. As you know, she will know when the time is right to go up the ramp. It hurts seeing our best friends get older.

  10. Hi Al, I have 2 older dogs one has more physical problems than the other, I had to put a long ramp to the back of the house cause she can no longer do the 2 steps to come inside...Maybe your ramp needs to be longer and wider...I had to make my ramp very long so it's not too steep and I made it wide enough so she feels safe using it. She is almost 14 and have rear leg issues...she is on pain meds also. Hope you can get out with your buddy again soon.

  12. Awww sweet Pheebs... I feel for you guys. Losing Kelly was devastating for us and once you see them refusing past habits, it hurts to think of them going downhill. I hope whatever is bothering her is just temporary and you guys can get back on the road together again. xo
