I FELT ENCOURAGED

SHIMMERS ON OUR PARK'S POND THIS AFTERNOON
Probably most RV folks have heard the announcement by now about the Canada/U.S. border opening in early November.  That is, 'for those people who have had their two Covid vaccinations and can prove it if asked'.  The border opening is especially good news for all Canadians whether they are RV folks or not.  Just the simple fact of having the border open again perks me up and gives me a good feeling.  And yes, I have had both my Covid shots.  At least now we have the option of going south which we haven't had for over a year and a half.  And, that of course immediately brings up the question....what will Kelly and I do.  Well, first and foremost I am not going to get myself too excited about it.  As it stands right now there are a number of uncertain roadblocks in the way for us to head south.  Not that it's impossible, just not probable at this time.  So, I will leave it at that and we will just let the cards fall where they may.  This whole winter travel topic is still a one day at a time thing for us............

THIS CORNFIELD HAS BEEN HARVESTED AND THESE WAGONS ARE LOADED WITH CORN AND READY TO BE TOWED TO THE FARM
A grey cloudy morning led to a bright sunny blue sky afternoon so with only a couple photos under my belt in the morning I was able to take a few more this afternoon when Pheebs and I took a walk around our Park's pond.

I'm in the process of winterizing our rig and it is going well despite one little misstep.  Pumping the plumbing anti-freeze into the lines I had forgotten to make sure the outside shower nozzle located in a rear bin was closed.  I pumped about a third of the anti-freeze into the bin.  Luckily, there weren't many things in the bin and I was able to easily mop it up with a sponge.  But I'm gonna need to get me some more anti-freeze now.

IS IT ANY WONDER I HAVE LOST ALL INTEREST IN WALKING HERE
Pheebs and I are doing fine.  For supper tonight I whipped up another 2 egg omelet complete with onions and sausage bits.  No cheese.  I've made well over a dozen omelets these past couple months and I'm still upright.  Pheebs is doing fine as well except she is losing her hearing.  She can't hear me anymore if I talk in my normal soft tone voice and when we temporarily became separated in the woods a couple months ago I'm sure now she couldn't hear me calling her.  Other than that she's doing fine.  My furry little shadow just turned 12 last week.

SNOOZING IN MOM'S CHAIR

Kelly phoned tonight and we chatted for about an hour.  So nice to hear her voice.  We talked about the border opening up and possible winter travels.  I felt encouraged.

 TONIGHT'S HALF MOON
GROANER'S CORNER:((     Linda was with her mother while her older sister was being examined by a dentist. Linda kept herself busy playing with toys in the waiting room until she noticed that her mom was resting, her eyes closed.  With about six other patients waiting, Linda marched up to her mother, looked her straight in the face and shook her shoulder.  "Mommy," she yelled, "wake up! This is not church!"

  2. My little fur baby has also gone deaf, at first I thought he was just ignoring me cause he can be a bit of brat but then I realized he nolong could hear. He's about the same age as Pheebs.

Hope you and Kelly get to go on a trip soon.

  3. Know why Pheebs is having hearing problems, don't you?
It's got to be all that loud music she listened to as a pup.

  4. I’m glad the border will be open for you should you decide to come down to the good old southwest this winter. We are headed there ourselves at the moment and are in Terre Haute, Indiana for an overnight stop. As you contemplate your decision don’t let the fear mongering in the media influence your thinking. As you look at the numbers in the US remember two key factors: the US population is ten times that of Canada and those who are getting sick and hospitalized (and worse) are nearly all among the unvaccinated. Sure, there are some so called breakthrough cases but as a % of the actually vaccinated it’s tiny and nearly all of those rare cases are asymptomatic or very mild. While mask wearing in public places in the rural southwest isn’t as prevalent as it is in our hometown of Ann Arbor, Michigan, plenty of folks are wearing them in the supermarkets, etc.. so you won’t stand out as some kind of Martian. Based on how you folks travel I am confident that you will be 99.9999999999% safe. At our ages we have to be mindful of how many southwest RV trips we have left under our belts. So make up your own minds using good information and enjoy whatever you decide to do! ;-)

    1. Thanks Bob, Kelly and I agree with what you say. We experienced some of this fear mongering years ago when we were ranch sitting 20 miles from the Mexican border. I think friends of ours were convinced we would be killed and eaten by the Mexicans.

  5. Just having the option available to travel south has to feel much better! Love the pretty maple tree colors and the different mushrooms. We sure hit the lottery when we found Pheebs and Tessa, but their getting older is so hard.

  7. Sure hope you can make it south if all allows. Boondocking is a great way to stay isolated, as you already know.
