FIGURING IT WAS BETTER TO BE PART OF THE SOLUTION THAN PART OF THE PROBLEM...I MADE A DECISION

NICE TO SEE PAINTED TURTLES IN OUR PARK'S POND AGAIN THIS YEAR
In my world, it was about the nicest weather day I could hope for.  A warm southerly breeze playfully moving our 75F temps around under sunny skies with a few skiffs of cloud thrown in.  Nice morning for a Jeep ride but oddly enough I never took any photos.  Some mornings are just like that I guess.

KELLY SET SOME OF OUR INSIDE PLANTS OUTSIDE ON THE COVERED FRONT PORCH THIS AFTERNOON
THERE'S A REASON MOST OF THE GRACKLES AND STARLINGS ARE ON THE GROUND INSTEAD OF THE FEEDER STATION
AND THAT MOURNING DOVE IS THE REASON....ALTHOUGH OUTNUMBERED BY GRACKLES THAT DOVE KICKED EVERY ONE OF THOSE BLACK GUYS OFF THE FEEDER
THE DOVE SITS PASSIVELY THEN SUDDENLY LUNGES AT THE CRACKLES SCARING THE BA-JEEBERS OUT OF THEM
MOURNING DOVES ARE DEFINITELY THE BOSS AROUND FEEDERS  AND I'VE SEEN THEM PUT THE RUN ON BLUE JAYS TOO
Home again I dug right into more yard work.  Scruffled up both the front and back yards with my garden rake then spread around a lot of Golf Green grass seed.  Scooter didn't escape my attention either as I cleaned all the bins, fired up the generator for the first time this year, and checked the tire pressures.  I had a few other things on the go as well but can't remember what they were.  This morning is already a long time ago for me.

NO FROGS IN OUR FRONT YARD FROG POND YET
SO NICE TO SEE THINGS PUSHING UP OUT OF THE GROUND AT THIS TIME OF YEAR

 MAPLE LEAF BUDS
AND I THINK THIS MIGHT BE SUMAC LEAVES BUDDING OUT
 DAFFODIL
I sure am having a lot of trouble with my legs with both this morning's walk and this afternoon's walk being very short due to soreness.   I don't know if it's my ongoing arthritis, the effects of diabetes, or lack of exercise.  Probably all three.  These last two winters sitting at home have taken a toll on my leg muscles that's for sure and I am not very optimistic at this point about the US/Canadian border being open this Fall either.  My legs are really needing to get back to the healthy dry climate of the southwest where they can once again get out for those long enjoyable desert walks and rock scrambles. Oh how I miss the great American Southwest with its endless night skies, fiery sunrises, and sunsets, back to back sunny days, Saguaro Cactus as far as the eye can see, Gambles Quails, Curved Bill Thrashers, Cactus Wrens, Ghost Towns, winding mountain roads, cowboys on horses,  brittle bushes and the smell of creosote shrubs after a gentle desert rain, rough and tumble Jeep roads, sweeping vistas stretching across far distant valleys, Apache trails, and endless steep canyons with no two ever alike.  I sure hope the powers that be can see their way clear to open the border soon and at least give we Canadians the option in October or November of heading south for at least one more winter.  Times running out ya know..........................

A MALE ROBIN OUT HUNTING WORMS

SPOTTED PARK RESIDENTS NANCY AND SCOTT OUT FOR A WALK AROUND THE POND THIS AFTERNOON
LUCKILY, NANCY AND SCOTT TOLD ME WHERE THESE TURTLES WERE HIDING
THERE WERE A LOT OF FISH NEAR THE SURFACE FEEDING THIS AFTERNOON
It took me a while to make the decision but with a generous helping of common sense, logic, and a genuine desire to do the right thing I had my Covid vaccine shot this past Monday afternoon at Goderich's YMCA.  I felt it was important to be a part of the solution rather than part of the problem.  I have had no ill effects from the vaccine and all is good.  And here, in my little world is how I pushed that decision of mine over the top.  With Kelly's liver disease , she will likely not run the risk of getting the shot so we are hedging our bets.  If Kelly catches covid and the worst happens then I at least have a chance of carrying on and looking after Pheebs.  Without the shot, and if both Kelly and I came down with Covid, who would be left to look after our precious little furry Kid.  If I suddenly have a massive reaction to the vaccine (not likely) and head for the happy hunting ground, then Kelly would still be here to look after Pheebs.  I simply figured it was a good idea to not have all our eggs in one basket on this one.  I like to think of it as a simple, plain, and common sense decision:))

AND THERE'S THE LITTLE FURRY KID HERSELF
GROANER'S CORNER:((  A young preacher was asked by the local funeral director to hold a graveside burial service at a small local cemetery for someone with no family or friends.  The preacher headed out early but quickly got himself lost, making several wrong turns. Eventually, a half-hour late, he saw the backhoe and its crew, but the hearse was nowhere in sight, and the workmen were eating lunch.  The diligent young pastor went to the open grave and found the vault lid already in place. Taking out his book, he read the service. Feeling guilty because of his tardiness, he preached an impassioned and lengthy service, sending the deceased to the great beyond in style.  As he was returning to his car, he overheard one of the workmen say, "I've been putting in septic tanks for twenty years and I ain't never seen anything like that."

  1. Glad you got the shot. I've had both Modernas, second one I had, a day after feeling like I had flu with 101 fever. But that was it. I'm glad I had it. Since Kelly's not a candidate,it is a very good thing you've done it. Proud of you. Didn't know you were leery. I think its going to be like getting flu shot every year from now on. I've done it and just as well add another one to the list.
Meanwhile, mourning doves looking serious at the feeder. White winged doves, which I never saw in my first 30 years in central Texas, have now gradually moved in. I don't have a bird feeder, but they do take over my neighbor's! BIG birds.

  2. Thank You for getting your shot. If more people would take care of this the better the chance to kill it off. I had my second shot yesterday and so far so good, but hear the third day might not be so good. But it sure is better to be sick one day compared to being dead sooner than I'd like.

  3. Al, not only have I gained 10 pounds, but I'm noticing my legs aren't moving as fast as they used to. Hubby has gained over 20 pounds during this pandemic. We weren't getting out AT ALL for so long and now we are a couple of... slugs.

  5. Drive your RV to the border, fly over and pickup RV and come to Arizona, option 1. OR at this point - just drive over and come on down to Arizona. Everyone else is coming so don't hold back and suffer.

    1. Spelling errors and can't figure how to edit. Anyway....Both Moderna shots left little side effects except 101 fever with second shot for a few hours.
