LEARNING HOW TO CHECK MY OWN BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS

Had an 11:45 a.m. appointment today with my diabetic nurse person at the Maitland Valley Medical Clinic.  After a call from my Nurse Practitioner last week it was decided it would be a good idea for me to daily monitor my blood sugar level.  It was arranged for the Diabetic Nurse to go through that procedure with me this morning.  If I can remember half of what she told me I'll be lucky.  With a neat little digital finger pricker machine, she showed me how to go through the procedure and read the monitor results.  The finger pricks were hardly felt.  Good thing I practiced all day Sunday hitting the ends of my fingers with a hammer.  With that kind of pain, the finger pricks were nuthin.  Good strategy there eh:))

Pheebs and I did get out earlier in the day for a Jeep ride and short walk before the day's heat built up.  Sure is nice early in the morning when cooler air prevails and we can cruise leisurely along with our windows down taking in the fresh country air.  The smell of new-mown hay this time of year is wondrous.  Something about it always takes me back to my childhood.
GUESS THAT KIND OF SAYS IT ALL

GROANER'S CORNER:))  While enjoying an early morning breakfast in a northern Arizona cafe, four elderly ranchers were discussing everything from cattle, horses, and weather to how things used to be in the "good old days." Eventually the conversation moved on to their spouses. One gentleman turned to the fellow on his right and asked, "Roy, aren't you and your bride celebrating your 50th wedding anniversary soon?" "Yup, we sure are," Roy replied. "Well, are you gonna do anything special to celebrate?" another man asked. The old gentleman pondered this for a moment, then replied, "For our 25th anniversary, I took the misses to Tucson. For our 50th, I'm thinking about going down there again to pick her up."

Taxiing down the tarmac, the jetliner abruptly stopped, turned around and returned to the gate. After an hour-long wait, it finally took off. A concerned passenger asked the flight attendant, "What was the problem?" "The pilot was bothered by a noise he heard in the engine," explained the Flight Attendant, "and it took us a while to find a new pilot."

  2. Good idea to have control over your own blood testing. So nice to see things picking up in your photos with normal activities.

  3. Being able to be outside and feel relaxed is the only bright spot in this whole staying safe business. As long as we aren't very close to anyone...the world awaits. Nice to see people out and about.
