ANOTHER LONG CATCH-UP POST

Difficult days again but old Sol came to my rescue for the umpteenth time in my life this morning casting warm sunshine into areas of shadowed depression setting me back up on my feet for another day.  I'm not exactly sure what is going on with my growing hermit-like mind these days but I'm thinking it is maybe the culmination of too many crazy years a long time ago finally catching up with me and taking their toll.

PHEEBS AND I SPOTTED THIS LITTLE CANADA GOOSE FAMILY ON A FARM POND EARLIER THIS MORNING
I am way behind on my photos so I'll start them off with these following pics I took on a cloudy Saturday morning.
BAYFIELD'S BEACH CONTINUES TO ERODE
NICE TO SEE LIGHTS ON AGAIN AT SHOPBIKE COFFEE ROASTERS AND I THINK IT'S THE ONLY PLACE IN BAYFIELD YOU CAN GET COFFEE AT THE MOMENT....GOOD COFFEE AND MUFFINS HERE:))
Bayfield friends and fellow RV'ers sent us an email a few days ago with the location of a Bald Headed Eagle's nest a few miles south of town so that was the destination for Pheebs and I Saturday morning.
ALL THESE CLOSE-UP TELEPHOTO SHOTS OF THE EAGLE WERE TAKEN WITH MY NIKON CP 900....THANKS E:))
JUST LOOK AT THAT TANGLE OF BRANCHES

MAMA EAGLE FLIES OFF THE NEST
SHE ALIGHTS ON A BRANCH A SHORT DISTANCE AWAY

IT IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING HOW A BIRD WITHOUT AN ENGINEERING DEGREE CAN BUILD SUCH A COMPLICATED NEST
AFTER EXPLORING AROUND FOR AWHILE PHEEBS STRETCHES OUT ON THE ROAD BESIDE MY TRIPOD
WE CHECKED OUT A FEW SPOTS ON THE WAY HOME
THOSE WILLOWS ARE REALLY TAKING ON SOME COLOR
All three of us in the Jeep this sunny bright Sunday morning as we slipped down the Bluewater Highway to Grand Bend.  Kelly was wanting to pick up some baked goods at the Highway Girl.  They have great coffee there and especially like the Morning Glory muffins which were fresh out of the oven when we got there.  Nice drive through the countryside heading home talking about some future plans.
'DID SOMEONE SAY FUTURE PLANS'??
With my body's drained solar batteries recharged again I grabbed my shovel and got to work in our front yard.  Been thinking of making a few changes here and there for quite awhile so later this morning I plunged that shovel into the ground and started digging.  Even managed to work myself up a wee bit of a sweat.  Been a long while since the last time I did that and it was just what I needed.  A project, something for me to focus on.
MY PROJECT TODAY WAS TO DIG UP AND MOVE THAT ROUND THING LEFT OF THE BIRD STATION
YEP I GOT IT OUT OF THERE
ALL DONE....HOLES FILED IN AND RAKED OUT
HERE WILL BE THE NEW HOME FOR THE TUB THING
I HAVE MANUEVERED IT INTO PLACE
ADDED WATER AND WILL PLANT 'MARSHY' PLANTS IN THERE
NOTICE I AM WEARING A 'SHORT SLEEVE SHIRT'...FIRST TIME THIS YEAR
A growing number of summer song birds returning to our yard again this year.  Happy to see the Rose Breasted Grosbeaks and Baltimore Orioles back again.  Grackles are dominating our feeder station and I am always surprised at how the supposedly passive Mourning Doves come right in and put the boots to those Grackles.
SORRY,  DON'T KNOW THE NAME OF THIS FELLOW

SPLISH SPLASH THIS ROBIN'S HAVING A BATH
SAW A SPLASH OF COLOR OVER BY THE POND AND RECOGNIZED IT RIGHT AWAY AS A BALTIMORE ORIOLE
AFTER A DRINK THE ORIOLE FLYS OVER TO THE BIRD STATION WHERE MR. RED BELLIED WOODPECKER IS THINKING, 'WHAT THE HECK IS THAT.......A FLYING PUMPKIN??
GRACKLES ARE THE DOMINENT FEEDERS AT THE MOMENT

DAY'S LIGHT WAS FAST FADING WHEN I SPOTTED THIS ROSE BREASTED GROSBEAK ON THE FINCH FEEDER.....HOPE TO GET SOME BETTER PICS OF THIS FELLOW IN DAYLIGHT

TWILIGHT CARDINAL
So nice to see the color green creeping into and through the woodland forests.  Even around our house plants, trees, and shrubs are beginning to slowly fill in.  I like it when our place becomes like a jungle.  Late May and June are the best looking months for our landscaping.  If we were thinking of selling our place at some point that is the time to do it when everything is looking so lush, full, and green.   Just a thought...………..
SO WHO THE HECK IS THIS??

HEY IT'S CHIPPY
A lot of farmers out on the land today getting their summer crops planted.  It's a busy time here in rural Ontario.
LOOKS LIKE THIS FIELD HAS BEEN PLANTED
BY GOLLY IT'S THE FURRY FACE HIGHLAND CATTLE GUYS AT TULIP LANE FARMS
Nice afternoon for a walk not having to be all bundled up against Winter's freezing cold.  Been walking these trails here in our Park for about seventeen and a half years now.  Due to changes going on in our Park the trails are not as nice as they once were but I guess it's the way things are.  They call it progress I suppose.  Both Kelly and I remarked this morning that this is the longest either one of us has ever lived in one single place.  I lived in places from British Columbia to Nova Scotia over the years and Kelly has lived in both New York State and Florida.  And of course we have both lived in the State of Arizona together at our previous winter house and property about 85 miles northwest of Phoenix.  I think we two Gypsys are way long overdue for another move...……..
NOTICE THE SHADES OF GREEN FILLING IN THE FOREST
AN OLD MOSSY LOG
THIS PAINTED TURTLE WARMS ITSELF IN THE SUN ON OUR PARK'S POND
GROANER'S CORNER:((  The other day I got carded at the liquor store. While I was taking out my ID, my old Blockbuster card fell out. The clerk shook his head and said, “Never mind,” and rang me up.

There are two kinds of people. Those who wake up in the morning and say, "Good morning, Lord," and those who wake up in the morning and say, "Good Lord, it's morning."

  1. Oh Wow. What a lot of great photos. I somehow think "this fella" whose name you don't know is Mrs. Somebody. If you've been in the doldrums, you've certainly bounced out. I have to tell you, I look forward to your photoblog especially, and I look at several each evening as an "unwind" activity. Yours is always honest and kind and appreciative of the world you live in. Thanks.

  4. I just love all your pictures of the birds, especially the eagle. Thanks for continuing to take them. As for wandering, I think you have a pretty sweet spot. Country living but close enough to the services you need in the cities. We've been trying to find a place to retire and it's getting harder and harder to find what you have. Have a great day and thanks for the pics!

  5. Morning Al, glad you have some sun to warm things up I like your idea of the marsh plants in the tub that is going to be really fine! Love all the bird photos, your Nikon is awesome that is the camera I wish for wonder how heavy it is and can it be used handheld...and I think your bird is a female Brown Headed Cowbird. Have a good week.

  8. Great Photos as always especially the clarity of the Birds.
The Eagle circled around making certain you weren't about to attack her nest and its contents.
Keeping active whether it's work or exercise helps get rid of the dull-drums.
Might be wise to hold on to your little bit of heaven because Canadian Snowbirds might not be able to cross the border this fall.
Be Safe and Enjoy nature's beauty.

    It's about time.

  11. Wonderful pics of eagle in its nest Al. We spotted that nest too when we were on that road watching the swan migration, hoping it was an eagle nest. Thanks for confirmation and After enjoying eagle watching in Florida over the years it great to see them here at home also.
