OKAY SO WHY DID WE DO A 175 MILE ROUND TRIP IN THE JEEP TODAY??

With a few tall pine trees recently cut down behind a neighbor's house to the east we are finally able to see a wee bit more of morning's sunrise.  Additional happy face sunlight beaming through our living room window early each day now.  Nice:))
SPRING IS SLOWLY BEGINNING TO BUD
PHEEBS AND I WERE OUT DRIVING MISS KELLY EARLIER TODAY
It was all three of us in the Jeep this early sunny Tuesday morning.  By the time we made it home again shortly before 2 PM we had logged 175 miles on the odometer and been to a place neither one of us had ever been to before.  About the only thing I knew about Tillsonburg Ontario was they had a decent radio station I used to listen to about 25 years ago.  Okay so why were we in Tillsonburg??  Well, it seems the only time we go anywhere anymore is to look at an RV and that's why we went to Tillsonburg.  Besides, we needed a break from being around the house most of the time.  Kelly had tracked down a 1986 Ford E350 21' Class C Holidaire.  Yes yes I know it's an antique.  Price was was acceptibly in the single digits.  Been stored inside with 106,000 miles on the speedo.  Pretty old RV but we thought we'd go have a look at it anyway.  Reasonably good shape for it's age and owner would sell it saftied.  All brand new tires on it.  As with anything there are of course pros and cons and we have to seriously ask ourselves, 'is this really a good time to buy an RV when the future is looking so uncertain in so many more ways than ever.  It's another one of those joint heart and head decisions.  Anyway, we didn't make a decision and are still waffling around all over the place trying to decide what we should do.  Any thoughts??

I HADN'T EXPECTED THE 401 WEST OF WOODSTOCK TO BE BUSY WITH ALL THIS COVID STUFF GOING ON BUT WAS SURPRISED TO SEE IT WAS AS BUSY AS IT ALWAYS IS
AS I'VE SAID BEFORE WE ARE LOOKING FOR A SMALL RUN-ABOUT RV FOR LOCAL TRAVELS
WITH A FEW SMALL RENOVATIONS WE COULD MAKE THIS WORK FOR US
BEEN STORED INSIDE ALL WINTER
OLD ORIGINAL FRONT SEATS HAVE BEEN REPLACED FOR NEWER LEATHER/VINYL SEATS
THIS RIG WAS ACTUALLN NOT ADVERTISED AS BEING FOR SALE
ACTUALLY MORE COUNTER TOP SPACE THAN WE HAD IN OUR LAST 37' CLASS A MOTORHOME
HAVE TO ADMIT AFTER OUR LAST TWO ILL THOUGHT OUT VEHICLE PURCHASES WE ARE RATHER GUN SHY OF MAKING ANOTHER WRONG DECISION
ALTHOUGH YOU CAN'T SEE IT THERE WAS SNOW IN THE AIR ON OUR WAY HOME
I bit of snow in the afternoon air heading back from Tillsonburg but skies later cleared and despite temps of 37F and a wind chill factor of 28 Pheebs and I did get out for an afternoon walk.  Wore my tighter fitting cowboy hat so it stayed on my head and didn't end up in the Park's pond.
HERE'S MISS KELLY ON OUR WAY HOME FROM TILLSONBURG THIS AFTERNOON TALKING TO HER SISTER BECKY IN FLORIDA AND OF COURSE THERE'S LOONEY TUNES IN THE PASSENGER SEAT:))

GROANER'S CORNER:((  Duct tape is like 'The Force'...It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together.

  1. I would see lots of potential for water damage, especially around the overhead cab, windows and everywhere else. In that regard, I also would press on the outside walls. Have a younger someone go up on the roof. Examine all things mechanical, engine, jacks. All kitchen stuff, including anything electrical and/or gas, back of refrigerator. Tanks leak? Can you get out a back window? I ask this because, as careful as we were, we had the Norcold fire.

  3. I don't think you would like this rig as it is to small. Maybe if you took out the dinnette or that couch thing and fit your recliner that might make a difference. She sure is and oldie but if they have all the records then you can figure out how well taken care of it is.

  4. Nice rig for me but I thinks your standards are higher. I took a long walk today and have not driven since I left Florida.

  5. There have been good points made about the RV, whether it is right for you, only you and Kelly can say. As you know any RV can have it's issues, water leaks would be evident from that window, propane leaks you could smell and you know what else to look for. For small local trips, the size may be just right, certainly more room then the Class B, which I wondered about at the time when you bought it. If they are willing to sell it certified, that would be good and if you really wanted to, I am sure you could get a dealer to go over it, before you bought it. I was reading an article yesterday, giving 8 reason why RVing will be on the rise when this is all over. I understand the heart and head decisions, good luck.

  6. Appears to be well looked after but appearances....
Have it checked over thoroughly and I agree with concerns about water issues, slightest problem over all those years could cause you both health concerns if there is mold in them there walls.

  7. Al....NO! It's way too old and I see a LOT of potential problems. It's also too small for the two of you. And, is this REALLY the time to buy another RV? the future is so uncertain...I would definitely wait and rethink this.

  8. I like it! Nice and bright inside and Kelly could add her personal touches. You certainly know what to look for and will find what is right for you both. Good luck!
Love Pheebs antics, reminds me of our little guy.
